Blame On Me is great and I agree that it deserves much, much more attention! Anymore is trying to be great, but it is just ok.

11 Anymore

Don't you just hate it when you want 11 songs in your top 10? :( I hate that this doesn't feature in my top tier but honestly there's nothing I'm more willing to swap out  Anymore was the lead single from Version of Me, and it's definitely my favourite track from it. I wasn't really familiar with many Melanie tracks before I heard this, so I was pleasantly surprised to hear how current and on-trend it sounded. It's held up brilliantly since, too!

Omg please don't tell me This Time has made it into your top 10 over these??? (I should scroll back and check lol)

10 Here It Comes Again

UCqui5p.jpg

The lead single to the Reason era was something a little different for Melanie. Here It Comes Again is a dramatic era opener, with a soaring chorus and striking lyrics about being in love. I've said this elsewhere, but this song in particular really reminds me of Natalie Imbruglia's White Lilies Island album. It's quite similar to the track Do You Love? in some ways, which is one of my highlights so it's a huge compliment! Perhaps not the best lead single choice but it's a stellar track regardless.

Finally some love for Here it comes again! I adore it like you said it's such an uplifting dramatic soaring song, I LOVE when this comes on in the car and I'm belting it out (thankful the windows are shut so nobody can hear me  )
HICA is a good track with an awesome bridge !

HICA is a great song! I remember being so excited by the launch of her new website and forum, because at the time it felt like she had been away for an eternity! I was very pleased with both the song and the video.

The single was released the day after my 15th birthday! A belated birthday present for me.

9 Next Best Superstar

pozHrpb.jpg

From one lead single to another! Next Best Superstar kicked off the Beautiful Intentions era, and what a way to begin. The track is a brilliant pop-rock anthem that takes a look at the music industry and celebrity culture, and just exactly what it can take to be the titular "next best superstar." I wonder how much of this comes from Melanie's own experiences? I love it anyway, a huge anthem and one I revisit lots!

Love NBS

Would def be in my top 10 !!

8 Think About It

Interestingly we've had a run of four consecutive lead singles! And that's actually all of them out now...! Think About It reigns as my favourite Melanie lead (well, unless High Heels ends up being snubbed from the new album :magic:), and it really is just a perfect pop song. It's catchy, punchy and I think it'd still sound really fresh if it came out now. It stands out brilliantly on The Sea without feeling like an outlier too!

Such a great pop song with a nice video. If Katy Perry released this bit would have been huge. Live it is always amazing.

Next Best Superstar was an incredibly strong start to her independent solo career, and lyrically it certainly made a statement - particularly because reality music shows were still pretty much in their infancy back then (only 1 series of The X Factor at that point in time :o ).

I'm so glad it became her final Top 10 - #11 would have hurt a bit. She timed this release very well because funnily enough the week it charted was the final ever week that the UK charts was based 100% on physical sales! Truly the end of an era.

Omg, Think About It. As of 2011 I think this was the strongest single she had released since I Turn to You. Such a shame that by then, industry support had long since dried up for Melanie. To be fair she really messed up its release by coinciding it with the album, but goodness, #95... A totally moot point coming up, but if this song & The Sea had existed in 2003... I think her second era would have been huge.

7 Who I Am

300x300bf.png

Highly impressive for such a recent song to be so high, but Who I Am stood out immediately as a stellar track. Melanie shows off her vulnerable side on a dance-pop inspired track, where she talks about how she's changed and developed into the woman she now is. It's mature and classy, and yet still a brilliant pop track to dance to. It ticks all the boxes! Well worthy of being sat among her very best for me!

 Already one of my top Melanie C tracks too, really great and contemporary. I was so pleasantly surprised that it was warmly received in AF Idol too! :cheeseblock:

6 Let There Be Love

Okay I KNOW this is an "out there" choice, keep the pitchforks at bay x but this was one of the tracks that really stood out to me on my very first listenthrough of Melanie's singles. I can get why it felt like an odd single choice - a random English-language cover aimed at a market that... just didn't take to it, really does make it feel a bit pointless. However, let's look at the song itself. The lyrics are gorgeous, and Melanie sounds stunning. I adore the use of light and shade in her vocals, and I think it's more clear in this than any of her singles! It's melodically brilliant, too. I know it's not a major fan favourite but hey, every flop has to have a fan, and I'll die on this hill x
