July 4, 20205 yr Day 16: Best relationship between two characters - The Tenth Doctor / Rose What can I say, I'm old school x Day 17: Favourite episode from Series 8: Flatline Very patchy series with a lack of real classics, possibly the worst of Nu-Who though Season 11 is a good contender for that too. I'm with Klaus on this one though, it feels very underrated, there was a real sense of danger where even the Doctor himself was affected and it allowed Clara a chance to prove herself.
July 4, 20205 yr Author possibly the worst of Nu-Who you did not just say series 8 is the worst of NuWho?
July 4, 20205 yr I just did tho x I didn't hate it, but in retrospect, it was a bit of a damp squib. The stories were lacking excitement for the most part despite decent concepts, Capaldi was great in future series, but they got his character all wrong here and it was awkward watching him and Clara, Danny Pink is still one of the worst characters in Doctor Who history and the finale was really underwhelming despite the real promise that Missy built up. I'm really thankful Season 9 was a massive step up. It also incidentally contains possibly my least favourite episode ever (In The Forest of the Night) so that also goes against it.
July 4, 20205 yr Author Danny Pink is still one of the worst characters in Doctor Who history Okay this I can agree with x Personally though I feel the complete opposite - despite the 'grumpy' Doctor, I thought series 9 was a bit of a step down compared to series 8. Episodes like The Woman Who Lived and Sleep No More simply cannot be forgiven :kink:
July 5, 20205 yr I definitely agreed with the Danny Pink is a terrible character but, on my rewatch, I’ve actually appreciated him more? I think he’s just perhaps not the right fit for a show like Doctor Who. He’s too serious and grounded in the real world/real life which isn’t really what the show is about. I’ve always had a soft spot for Series 8 but I’ve loved it even more on my rewatch and I can see more what they were doing with Clara/Danny which didn’t work for me on first watch. I’ve always noticed the similarities but it really does feel like Dark Water/Death in Heaven is the first draft for World Enough & Time/The Doctor Falls. You have a Master in disguise for the entirety of the first episode, the dark themes regarding the Cyberman/pain/death in the first episode, the companion dying in the pre-titles but not being seen as a Cyberman until the next episode, the Master working with the Cybermen, (tenuous but) the greenery setting of the second episode
July 5, 20205 yr Day 1: Favourite episode from Series 1: The Empty Child Day 2: Favourite companion: Donna Noble Day 3: Favourite episode from Series 2: The Impossible Planet Day 4: Favourite monster: The Silence Day 5: Favourite episode from Series 3: Blink Day 6: Favourite spin-off: Torchwood Day 7: Favourite episode from Series 4: Midnight - an amazing series but this is easy, absolute claustrophobic perfection! The Doctor at his absolute most powerless. Day 8: Best planet to have been shown on Doctor Who: Gallifrey Day 9: Favourite episode from 2008-10 & 2013 Specials: The Waters of Mars Day 10: An underrated episode: Kill the Moon Day 11: Favourite episode from Series 5: The Time of Angels Day 12: A quote from Doctor Who that inspires you: In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important Day 13: Favourite episode from Series 6: Day of the Moon Day 14: Funniest episode: The Unicorn and the Wasp Day 15: Favourite episode from Series 7: Asylum of the Daleks Day 16: Best relationship between two characters - Ten & Donna Day 17: Favourite episode from Series 8: Flatline Day 18: Favourite guest/recurring character: River Song - always loved it when I saw she would be in an episode. I feel she’s marmite but I think she helped elevate the show to explore new ideas. I think the concept of meeting someone with much greater knowledge of you than you have of the other person just had so much potential and I loved all the intrigue. She was such a vibrant character as well, I just wish we could have had more with Twelve. In a way, I feel she was limited by being Amy/Rory’s child because it meant she was tied with their era rather than being the character she actually was of having a massive impact in The Doctor’s future life.
July 5, 20205 yr Day 1: Favourite episode from Series 1: Bad Wolf / The Parting of the Ways Day 2: Favourite companion: Martha Jones Day 3: Favourite episode from Series 2: Army of Ghosts / Doomsday Day 4: Favourite monster: Weeping Angels Day 5: Favourite episode from Series 3: Blink Day 6: Favourite spin-off: The Sarah Jane Adventures Day 7: Favourite episode from Series 4: The Stolen Earth / Journey's End Day 8: Best planet to have been shown on Doctor Who: Gallifrey Day 9: Favourite episode from 2008-10 & 2013 Specials: The Waters of Mars Day 10: An underrated episode: It Takes You Away Day 11: Favourite episode from Series 5: The Eleventh Hour Day 12: A quote from Doctor Who that inspires you: "Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind" Day 13: Favourite episode from Series 6: The Girl Who Waited Day 14: Funniest episode: Partners In Crime Day 15: Favourite episode from Series 7: Asylum of the Daleks Day 16: Best relationship between two characters: Ten & Donna It just has to be. David and Catherine have such incredible chemistry, making Ten and Donna a TARDIS team that you'd just love to be a part of
July 5, 20205 yr Interesting about Dark Water/Death in Heaven. I did remember enjoying the first part of that, but the finale let me down. Maybe it would benefit from a rewatch knowing what's coming next. S9 obvs had some duds and ended disappointingly, but it's highs were magnificent and it did feel much more self-assured and clear where it was going than the past season. -x- Day 18: Favourite guest/recurring character: Captain Jack Obvs, just so full of character and exuberance that every episode he's in, I always raise a smile. What a shame his most recent cameo was so pointless. I also have a soft spot for Madame Vastra, Jenny Flint, and Strax, I miss them.
July 5, 20205 yr Okay well I missed this somehow but I'll catch up to day... well it seems everyone is on different days so I'll go 18 like Klaus above  Day 1: Favourite episode from Series 1: Bad Wolf Day 2: Favourite companion: Donna Day 3: Favourite episode from Series 2: The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit Possibly my second favourite series. There's Sarah Jane, theres Cassandra, theres a werewolf, even Love & Monsters isn't that bad just a bit silly. The only weak points for me are Fear Her (which is just a drag to get through imo, the setting/story/etc. are all nice but nothing really extraordinary to stop me skipping it on rewatches of the show) and The Girl in the Fireplace (for similar reasons although not as bad, the idea behind it is much better than Fear Her but still falls short of being very good). Every other episode I thoroughly enjoy and love watching, especially all 3 two-parters. Day 4: Favourite monster: Weeping Angels Day 5: Favourite episode from Series 3: Blink I very nearly put the three-parter here but it has to be Blink. I love the Weeping Angels and I love the stories where the Doctor takes backseat and the narrative is pushed by non-lead roles. Their introduction is terrifying to say the least and even in return appearances they are still a force to be reckoned with (although less so in each appearance tbf). Utopia and friends are great episodes also albeit possibly too long, having a three part story makes the whole thing over 2 hours long and it is a beast to get through sometimes. The reintroduction of the master was genius and bringing Jack back was equally as entertaining... it just could have maybe been an episode shorter (somehow, idk how I'm not a writer and this is a minor complaint). Donna is my alltime favourite companion but The Runaway Bride is my least favourite episode featuring her tbh Day 6: Favourite spin-off: Torchwood HOW CAN IT NOT BE TORCHWOOD? To be fair Sarah Jane is a superb tv show too, but Torchwood takes the cake for sure. The characters, the stories, everything about it is just incredible. To the point where I couldn't even tell you my favourite episode because they're all at least 8/10 for me. Children of Earth would be my favourite story of course but I feel that's kind of different. I'm even a big Miracle Day fan - it's silly and goes against canon in every way but as a standalone story it's incredible (maybe minus 2-3 episodes to be more succinct). Day 7: Favourite episode from Series 4: Turn Left Ugh you are killing me! I don't even know. This series completely spoils re-watches for me because nothing tops it. I spend series 1-3 skipping at least 2 episodes each low key just to get to series 4 faster then I speed through this, then basically give up rewatching because I know nothing gets any better. I mean... RIVER SONG... TURN LEFT... THE OOD... THE ADIPOSE... THE SLOW REVEAL OF HIDDEN PLANETS... like it's just perfection completely. The Doctor's Daughter is probably my least favourite just because it focuses too much on Martha when DONNA IS RIGHT THERE. Their relationship through this series was just spot on. No romance, no fooling around, just 'mates' :') I think Turn Left is my favourite... which may be an odd choice but above anything else I'm just a fan of the alternate timeline idea. The finale is spectacular though, as are Midnight and the library episodes. Day 8: Best planet to have been shown on Doctor Who: New Earth Maybe not the 'best', I'd maybe have to give that to Gallifrey, but I'd love to visit New Earth above any other  Day 9: Favourite episode from 2008-10 & 2013 Specials: The Waters Of Mars This took longer than I thought :') I'm now tossing up whether to watch The Waters Of Mars, Turn Left, or The Impossible Planet... or if I should start a rewatch
July 6, 20205 yr Day 1: Favourite episode from Series 1: The Empty Child Day 2: Favourite companion: Donna Noble Day 3: Favourite episode from Series 2: The Impossible Planet Day 4: Favourite monster: The Silence Day 5: Favourite episode from Series 3: Blink Day 6: Favourite spin-off: Torchwood Day 7: Favourite episode from Series 4: Midnight - an amazing series but this is easy, absolute claustrophobic perfection! The Doctor at his absolute most powerless. Day 8: Best planet to have been shown on Doctor Who: Gallifrey Day 9: Favourite episode from 2008-10 & 2013 Specials: The Waters of Mars Day 10: An underrated episode: Kill the Moon Day 11: Favourite episode from Series 5: The Time of Angels Day 12: A quote from Doctor Who that inspires you: In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important Day 13: Favourite episode from Series 6: Day of the Moon Day 14: Funniest episode: The Unicorn and the Wasp Day 15: Favourite episode from Series 7: Asylum of the Daleks Day 16: Best relationship between two characters - Ten & Donna Day 17: Favourite episode from Series 8: Flatline Day 18: Favourite guest/recurring character: River Song Day 19: Favourite episode from Series 9: The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion - Looking back, this is a really weird series. Definitely the most experiment but, possibly as a consequence, the least focused. The Me arc really doesn’t work (essentially removing a full episode from the run), the opener feels a waste of an episode and I find the Under the Lake episodes lacking in something. I do love The Witch’s Familiar and Sleep No More though aka two of the more disliked episodes of the full run. Heaven Sent is of course a fantastic piece of writing (although not overly keen on what it means in practice) and I side with liking Hell Bent but again it lacks the focus needed. The Zygon episodes are the most Doctor Who-y of the run (accolade should probably go to The Girl Who Died if it wasn’t for the random ending) and there’s a lot of fun to be had with it, as well as interesting implications. Face the Raven is also fun, would have been good to explore more of the Trap Street though, I think (ironically given the series) it could have worked better as a two parter
July 6, 20205 yr Day 1: Favourite episode from Series 1: Bad Wolf / The Parting of the Ways Day 2: Favourite companion: Martha Jones Day 3: Favourite episode from Series 2: Army of Ghosts / Doomsday Day 4: Favourite monster: Weeping Angels Day 5: Favourite episode from Series 3: Blink Day 6: Favourite spin-off: The Sarah Jane Adventures Day 7: Favourite episode from Series 4: The Stolen Earth / Journey's End Day 8: Best planet to have been shown on Doctor Who: Gallifrey Day 9: Favourite episode from 2008-10 & 2013 Specials: The Waters of Mars Day 10: An underrated episode: It Takes You Away Day 11: Favourite episode from Series 5: The Eleventh Hour Day 12: A quote from Doctor Who that inspires you: "Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind" Day 13: Favourite episode from Series 6: The Girl Who Waited Day 14: Funniest episode: Partners In Crime Day 15: Favourite episode from Series 7: Asylum of the Daleks Day 16: Best relationship between two characters: Ten & Donna Day 17: Favourite episode from Series 8: Dark Water / Death In Heaven Still a brilliant finale, Michelle Gomez is the true star, and some really interesting concepts explored.
July 6, 20205 yr Day 19: Favourite episode from Series 9: Heaven Sent This still makes my jaw drop. It's such a stunningly written, psychologically tense and beautifully realised mind trip into grief, it's beyond anything I would ever expect from a family friendly show like Doctor Who. Contender for my favourite episode of Nu-Who. S9 did have its weaknesses (REALLY wasn't keen on Clara's resolution and Me was a complete waste of time), but I found it a lot more engaging and unique overall, plus Capaldi definitely stepped up, his speech in the Zygon episodes solidified that.
July 7, 20205 yr Day 1: Favourite episode from Series 1: The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances Day 2: Favourite companion: Barbara Wright Day 3: Favourite episode from Series 2: The Girl in the Fireplace Day 4: Favourite monster: Cybermen Day 5: Favourite episode from Series 3: Blink Day 6: Favourite spin-off: The Sarah Jane Adventures Day 7: Favourite episode from Series 4: Midnight Day 8: Best planet to have been shown on Doctor Who: Zeta Minor Day 9: Favourite episode from 2008-10 & 2013 Specials: The Waters of Mars Day 10: An underrated episode: Delta and the Bannermen Day 11: Favourite episode from Series 5: The Time of Angels/ Flesh and Stone Day 12: A quote from Doctor Who that inspires you 'There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream, people made of smoke and cities made of song. Tom MacRae's scripts are among some of the finest of NuWho. Rise of the Cybermen / The Age of Steel is a fantastic two parter, and The Girl Who Waited is just perfection. He really hit the nail on the head both times and didn't suffer a poor second outing. There are so many moments to choose from in Murray Gold's contributions to the show, but one piece of music that never fails to make me emotional is Together or Not at All (from when Amy and Rory are on the rooftop / jump in The Angels Take Manhattan), however shoutout to Melody Pond from series 6 too, when River reveals her identity to Amy and Rory. Absolutely stunning <3

I feel like A Town Called Mercy is really the only episode that (at the time of broadcast) I really wasn't a fan of at all, whereas everybody else seemed to love it and think it was the best of series 7, etc. Now, I appreciate it a lot more and it's an enjoyable episode but I still wouldn't say it's all that.
