She closed her online store in the middle of the release week... Meanwhile, literally the rest of the industry continues to sell their stuff on their respective websites, without regard to the protests or blackout movements... What a dumb decision. And the haters are still trying to force all of this not to affect her debut. <_<

No, it doesn't matter. Gaga has deliberately made this decision to drive people's thoughts towards the Black Lives Matter movement. By worrying about missed sales and her chart position, you would be doing the exact opposite. Put your time to better use - people are literally dying.
gaga has closed her online store as a protest to make a statement - ie. she cares more about people’s lives over a chart position. it’s quite a loud statement considering this is arguably the most important week of the albums chart life. you can literally buy the album tomorrow or from somewhere else. it’s an amazing gesture to show solidarity.

Sales mean nothing today when the entire online world is symbolically taking a stand. We need some perspective.

This is a great move by her - I am aware it'll achieve next to nothing in the grand scheme of things, but it's a statement and gets people thinking at least which is more than enough right now! Even if it makes one more person consider the injustices happening in the US and around the world right now, then it's done its job.

What are others' thoughts on this decision?

It will hardly f***ing matter if Gaga gets a number one or not if the world comes to an end. Which is a strong possibility at this point.

I respect her a lot for this to be honest

I can see why some of us chart fans may be worried but what’s happening right now this is just a small but effective way of making a voice etc and it’s not really gonna cost her a good debut as well as weve already gotten her the fastest selling album of the year so far.

I am a chart fan myself, but anybody thinking about sales or chart positions right now needs to get some perspective.

Completely admire this decision! Like Bal has said if it even makes one person take notice then it will have served its purpose.

I'm proud to see her take am action like this.

People who think this is a dumb decision or worry about her sales/chart position really need to check their privilige because a #1 album means N O T H I N G compared to BLM and what the going through at the moment. Stans really need to get a perspective sometimes because it's damn silly.

We can only applaud GaGa for doing this and taking a stance.

Stop the drama, this is not an acting test.

Everybody here playing the good guy and nobody has answered me why Beyoncé, Taylor, Katy and 90% of the shops of the rest of the artists in the music industry are still open, while Gaga self-boycotts in the middle of a week of album release that she worked for 3 long years. Stop the hypocrisy.

Idk why I'm even entertaining this lol but it's one day, she could not sell a single copy for the rest of the week and she'd still be #1. In fact 3/4 of the buyers could take it back the shop and she'd still be #1 probably (not that there's much of that I hope x) Even if she wasn't, it pales in significance almost entirely compared to Black Lives Matter

Because this is her way of making a stand! Other artists may be doing different things (or nothing at all). We should commend her, not come for other artists for not doing it. And anyway, I'm sure the store will be back in a matter of hours so it's really no big deal!!

Gaga has stopped selling her albums on her store for ONE DAY, because she values showing respect for victims of police brutality more than a few sales of her albums.

Why does it matter if other artists have done or not? Let’s applaud Gaga for taking this correct stance

No one has yet answered me about why the artists I quoted and 90% of the rest of the music industry still sell their stuff as if it were just another day. I'm sure if it were the other way around, everyone would already be attacking Gaga. Gaga's laudable attitude doesn't erase the lack of awareness of the other artists, who continue to sell their stuff, and the need for them to participate in the movement, as they are also opinion makers.

so.. what point are you trying to make?

Besides the fact that, unlike Gaga, none of them are releasing anything this week, so she shouldn't close her store if the others haven't either.

Anyway, that won't change anything, people won't stop hating each other just because of the color of their skin just because Gaga closed her shop for one day.
