Bad Habits has at least been as high as #2 in this chart this year, whereas Heat Waves and Mr Brightside are currently a place higher on the YTD than they've been on these weekly charts this year.

 

I can only think of two songs which ended the year higher on the EOY than on the weekly charts compiled by the same metrics - Love The Way You Lie in (EOY #1 in 2010) and How Do I Live (EOY #6 in 1998), although Let It Go came close (think it would have been EOY top 10 for 2014 if it had been sales only, where its weekly peak was still #11).

Let It Go was the #9 of 2014 based on the version in The Chart Vault which does include streams. I think it depends whether you include streams for the first half of 2014 when they weren’t actually chart eligible or only for the second half of the year. Kind of makes sense to include them for the first half (which I believe The Chart Vault version does) otherwise it isn’t a like for like comparison across the year.

That makes sense as the OCC has it at EOY #13, which I guess is without streams for the first half of the year. I assume it would still have missed the weekly Top 10 even if streaming had been counted at that time, but couldn't say for definite.

2019 she’d have got there instead of River.

 

2020 she’d have got there instead of Positions’ last week, but then she did actually make it for 2 weeks.

 

2021 she genuinely wouldn’t have got there (instead Wham! would have had 3 weeks as part of a Sausage Roll sandwich).

 

2022 instead of Anti-Hero’s last week.

I wondered if you might have been thinking about winding up this thread. I'll be sorry to see it go, but understand - thanks for all the work you've put into it for so long! Hope it gets to 225k views by year end :D

 

Will you continue with the YTD estimates in 2023? The first week of the year is an unusual one for this thread with all the songs which don't get reset, but it should be the same as the YTD chart for that one week. After that, I think the monthly YTD updates would continue to go down well if you're planning to carry those on.

 

Back to this week, I see Kelly's and Bobby's Christmas songs have cracked this top 10 for the first time - I reckon only one of them will do that officially in the coming weeks.

I enjoy your thread seeing what the charts really look like without the OCC's shenanigans applied. It would be a shame to wrap it up, but I can understand if you choose to do so as it does not get many comments. It's good to see all the real number 1s rather than the fake official ones (sometimes).
