Nobody Knows Me and Mother and Father are two of my favourite songs on the album.

 

Damn American Life for underperforming and meh to Hollywood, which I always found a little bland and repetitive.

 

Maybe if they had started the campaign with Nobody Knows Me, it would have done a little better? Perhaps instead of just scrapping with AL video, they should have just dropped the song altogether?

 

I never rated Nothing Fails very highly (and thought it was a strange track to go with as a single when - for the first time in her career - everything was failing quite badly) but the remix on Finally Enough Love lifts it so much.

^ That all sounds like fanfiction rubbish - I followed the era at the time and there was never any talk about Nobody Knows Me or Mother and Father being singles; if anything Nothing Fails was always slated to be a single; Love Profusion obviously happened to due to the Esther Lauder campaign. Nobody Knows Me's remixes seemed to happen mostly due to the Remixed & Revisted; if anything it felt like they were struggling with what to do post-Hollywood bombing and radio shunning her. I think they mostly put it out there because clubs seemed to still be receptive towards her.

HD video for ‘Hollywood’ and it appears to me like they’ve gone back to the original footage to upgrade the video!

 

I checked out the remix package, the Jacques remix remains the best but I do like the Deepsky mix that’s on Finally Enough Love. If the Jacques remix had a bit more of the original lyrics in that would be even better.

I remember I bought the CD single of 'Love Profusion' just to get that Above & Beyond remix of 'Nobody Knows Me'!

The radio edit of 'Nothing Fails' is cut very abruptly. I do like the Nevnis Radio Mix though, I think it links it with the electro sound of the preceding two singles whilst keeping the essence of the original. I wasn't really bothered about the other remixes; Above & Beyond's remix of 'What It Feels Like for a Girl' is much better than their remix for 'Nobody Knows Me', for me.

Die Another Day remixes uploaded to Spotify but currently greyed out (other than the Deepsky remix that’s available through Finally Enough Love). Wonder what’s going on? I want the Dirty Vegas remix on my playlist!
