Buzzjack’s Favourite Noughties Single: The Heat Results

From today, Addy and myself will be posting the results of each heat per day - the 90 songs from each heat will be revealed gradually until the top 10 for every year is unveiled. The top 10 songs from each heat will then give us a top 100 for the final rate to determine Buzzjack's Favourite Noughties Single. :cheer: It's worth noting that where songs are tied on points, the song that received the highest amount of points from a voter will rank higher.

Today is all about the year 2000 - a period of music I never appreciated until I saw the end-of-year list. A fantastic 39 of you cast your votes in this heat so thank you everyone who participated. :cheer: Even if you didn't manage to vote, your thoughts and opinions are welcome in this thread.

no real losses in that first section.

Artful Dodger, Storm and Black Legend really should be top 40 though.

31-40

31. Britney Spears – Lucky 119 points
32. Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch 118 points
33. Lene Marlin - Sitting Down Here 115 points
34. Moloko – The Time Is Now 114 points
35. Madison Avenue - Don’t Call Me Baby 114 points
36. Sweet Female Attitude – Flowers 109 points
37. Chicane and Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up 108 points
38. Bomfunk MCs – Freestyler 95 points
39. Madonna - American Pie 87 points
40. Craig David - Fill Me In 86 points

Kicking off the top 40 is the third and final Craig David song to appear in this heat. Madonna appears with her first of two songs; 'Music' has proven to be the more popular Madge track of the two. Elsewhere in this section we have numerous songs that seem to have faded into obscurity throughout time. Despite a rework of the song appearing in today's chart, the original 'Flowers' fails to get anywhere near the top 10 here. Britney also loses her first of three songs to appear in this heat in the form of 'Lucky'. In the next section we will be losing some classics. :o :kink:

too many classics out in that section for my liking.

I thought people loved Don't Call Me Baby and Flowers!! Don't Give Up and Freestyler are so good too.

26. Madonna – Music 131 points
27. Eminem - The Real Slim Shady 131 points
28. Destiny’s Child - Say My Name 130 points
29. York - On The Beach 129 points
30. Samantha Mumba - Gotta Tell You 125 points

In this section we lose Samantha Mumba's only song in this heat; 'Gotta Tell You' is much higher than I would have expected before compiling the results! We also lose the eurotrance 'On The Beach' as well as the first of two Destiny's Child hits to feature. Likewise, we lose the first of two Eminem songs in this heat with 'The Real Slim Shady' proving less popular than 'Stan' which is still in the running. Madonna loses her last track in this heat but with plenty of hits over the course of the decade she will have many chances to get a song into the final rate!

21. The Corrs – Breathless 144 points
22. Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400 143 points
23. Billie Piper – Day & Night 138 points
24. Robbie Williams - Rock DJ 133 points
25. S Club 7 – Never Had A Dream Come True 132 points

In this section we lose a S Club 7 classic - the first of two appearances from the pop group today. Robbie's only song to feature in the 2000 heat did well to finish at #24. Two songs I'm not overly familiar with - 'Day & Night' and 'Kernkraft 400' - do well to finish higher than some of the more remembered songs on this list. The Corrs just miss out on the top 20 with their sole chart topper 'Breathless'. I forgot how much of a bop the song is. :music:

THE TOP 20:

All Saints – Black Coffee
All Saints – Pure Shores
Anastacia - I'm Outta Love
Blink 182 – All The Small Things
Bon Jovi - It's My Life
Britney Spears – Born to Make You Happy
Britney Spears – Oops I Did It Again
Darude – Sandstorm
Delerium - Silence (Remix)
Destiny’s Child – Independent Women Part I
Eminem featuring Dido – Stan
Fragma – Toca’s Miracle
Kylie Minogue – Spinning Around
LeAnn Rimes – Can’t Fight The Moonlight
Melanie C – I Turn To You (Remix)
Melanie C & Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes - Never Be the Same Again
Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight)
S Club 7 – Reach
Sonique – It Feels So Good (Remix)
Spiller – Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)

Any guesses for which 10 will make it and which 10 will fall short? :kink:

Pleased to see Anastacia top 20! Don’t think she’ll be top 10 though.

Gutted the Corrs missed the top 20!

20. Destiny’s Child – Independent Women Part I 149 points

19. Anastacia - I'm Outta Love 153 points

We lose the final Destiny's Child song in this heat - finishing with 19 more points than 'Say My Name'. Anastacia loses her only single featured in the 2000 list but, like Destiny's Child, will have other opportunities to perform better in the following heats. Still, #19 is a great position for Anastacia!

18. S Club 7 – Reach 155 points

17. Bon Jovi - It's My Life 158 points

I'm actually shocked 'Reach' didn't finish top 10. :o It has never been an SC7 song I particularly liked (school discos firmly killed any love I may have had lol) but I thought Buzzjack would have collectively given it more points. On the other hand, Bon Jovi make a surprisingly high appearance at #17 with 'It's My Life'. Before ever hearing the track and just knowing it by name, I used to think this was the song No Doubt covered a couple years later.

16. Britney Spears – Born to Make You Happy 166 points

15. Delerium - Silence (Remix) 167 points

At #16 is the second of three Britney songs to appear today. 'Born to Make You Happy' finishes with 47 more points than 'Lucky' while 'Oops I Did It Again' is still to come. It is my first time hearing 'Silence' and it is a bit of a banger. :o I feel like 2000 was a great year to rave judging by some of the songs on this list. Nick F1 and ...ready for it lose their 20 pointer in 'Born...' while Addy, Bjork and Shoat lose theirs in 'Silence'. So close yet so far.

Oh no I lost one of my top song (Silence) :snif:

Top 15 is still respectable place and now I am wondering how far off was from qualifying!!!!
