You’re Beautiful and his album in general are so underrated these days.

26-30

26. Gwen Stefani feat. Eve - Rich Girl 96 points

27. Coldplay - Speed Of Sound 94 points

28. Bodyrockers - I Like The Way 91 points

29. Black Eyed Peas - Don't Lie 87 points

30. Kanye West feat. Jamie Foxx - Gold Digger 87 points

In this section the Black Eyed Peas lose their third and final entry in this heat. I'm quite shocked 'Don't Lie' is the highest of the three since I always perceive it to be the most forgotten. Clearly I'm wrong. The Bodyrockers impress by making it all the way to #28. Such a fantastic albeit creepy song. Coldplay lose a song here but are still in the running with 'Fix You'. Gwen managed to qualify with her solo debut single in the 2004 heat but misses out on the top 25 with the follow-up. Luckily she still has one entry left (sadly it isn't 'Cool'). Will she get a second qualifier? :kink:

21-25

21. Mylo vs Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Pressure 116 points

22. Jennifer Lopez - Get Right 114 points

23. Rihanna - Pon De Replay 106 points

24. Jem - They 103 points

25. Oasis - The Importance Of Being Idle 102 points

Oasis kick of the top 25 and I'm surprised to see them this high. :o Underrated Welsh wonder Jem makes an impressively high appearance at #24 beating some classics! 'They' is my favourite of her three 2005 singles - fun fact: her single 'Wish I' was the opening theme song to Celebrity Love Island back in the day. :kink: Rihanna's first appearance this decade sees her at a strong but perhaps still-underwhelming #23. The song is a BOP but overshadowed by her later releases. I'm sure we will see more of her over the next few days. :kink: J.Lo yet again fails to qualify with one of her biggest hits - the amazing 'Get Right'. Who knows, maybe 'Do It Well' will defy the odds in the 2007 heat. That's if it made the EOY list.

And here is a reminder of 20 songs still left to be announced:

1 THING- Amerie

1, 2 STEP - Ciara feat. Missy Elliot

BAD DAY- Daniel Powter

BEHIND THESE HAZEL EYES - Kelly Clarkson

BIOLOGY - Girls Aloud

DAKOTA - Stereophonics

DARE- Gorillaz

DON'T CHA - Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes

FEEL GOOD INC - Gorillaz

FIX YOU - Coldplay

GALVANIZE - The Chemical Brothers

HOLLABACK GIRL - Gwen Stefani

HUNG UP - Madonna

I BET YOU LOOK GOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR - Arctic Monkeys

I PREDICT A RIOT - Kaiser Chiefs

PUSH THE BUTTON - Sugababes

SINCE U BEEN GONE- Kelly Clarkson

SUDDENLY I SEE- KT Tunstall

WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS- Green Day

WE BELONG TOGETHER - Mariah Carey

Who will make it and who will end up unlucky #11?!!!

I’d love to see Stereophonics and KT Tunstall make it but I don’t think they will.

You're welcome Addy.

I never consider 2005 a great year for chart music (maybe the low sales climate contributes to this lol) but seeing some of the songs in this heat I now think I've undervalued it. That said, there is a lot of crap.

20 BAD DAY- Daniel Powter 125

19 1, 2 STEP - Ciara feat. Missy Elliot 132

Say Hi to Daniel Powter who starts the top 20. This does finish Top 20 in comparison to much better male ballad song that we left some 12 spots earlier 'You're Beautiful' by James Blunt :kink:. Clearly I am not a big fan of this perhaps due to the overplaying factor (radio and in countless TV shows).

Say Bye to Ciara who loses her final track in this heat '1,2 Step' :(. I love this song and as much as I would have loved to do better, I can't complain because I think #19 is pretty respectable.

And it just seems very hard for any r'n'b song to qualify for the finals :nocheer:. That needs to be changed next time we do something like this lol.

Trick Me? Lose My Breath? Dirrty? :frankie:

SAD to see Bad Day out. :drama: I stan both the song and video! A case where overplay was welcome.

Bad Day did suffer from overplay. I quite liked it at first but I’ve never truly gone back to it.
18 GALVANIZE - The Chemical Brothers 133

17 WE BELONG TOGETHER - Mariah Carey 136

These two tracks are totally robbed. 'Galvanize' is one of the best Chemical Brothers track and if I am not mistaken this is also their most successful single!!!'We Belong Together' gave Mariah a very much needed comeback in the charts but IIRC I think it missed #1 in UK by only few hundred copies, right?. I thought this was dead sure qualifier and I am suprised that it didn't quiet make it there!!!

Exactly my point...u can count them on 1,2,3 fingers :kink:

I wouldn't really say Dirrty is r'n'b lol, I was more referring to artists like Mary J. Blige, Ciara, Alicia Keys etc. etc.

We Belong Together deserved better. It is one of the definitive songs from 2005. :drama:
16 I PREDICT A RIOT - Kaiser Chiefs 141

15 1 THING- Amerie 144

Kaiser Chiefs finishes #16. Clearly 2005 was in some certain way a start of British Indie invasion with many of the groups achieving success not only on album charts but also on singles. We have quiet of few other indie bands left in top 15 :o!!!

'1 Thing' proves to be the most popular r'n'b-ish track in this heat and countdown but still it didn't quiet make it to the finals :cheer:. I think it did amazingly well especially considering it finished higher than Mariah's 'We Belong Together'

I REPEAT - And it just seems very hard for any r'n'b song to qualify for the finals :nocheer:. That needs to be changed next time we do something like this lol. :kink:

'1 Thing' DOMINATED the music channels back in 2005! It did very well to reach #15. :cheer: I love 'I Predict A Riot'. Sad to see it miss out!
14 SUDDENLY I SEE- KT Tunstall 162

13 HOLLABACK GIRL - Gwen Stefani 165

Now we're at the point where all these songs were in and out of top 10 and just one set of votes could have made a big difference. U can also see the points difference jumped from 144 for #15 to 162 for #14 which KT Tunstall ends up with her biggest song 'Suddenly I See'. It did exceptionally well and at one point I thought it is qualifying. Unfortunately it did receive only 11 points in last 6 sets of votes and caused her to exit the top 10 :nocheer:.

At #13 we lose 'Hollaback Girl', the third single taken from her debut album. This was also in and out of top 10 constantly. At least she has the much superior song qualified in finals from 2004!!!

I've just realised KT's 'Other Side Of The World' hasn't made it into any heats. :o :( Was it released at the end of 2004? I never really enjoyed Hollaback Girl tbh so don't care that it missed out lol.
12 DARE- Gorillaz 176

11 FEEL GOOD INC - Gorillaz 176

And now this is brutal. Gorillaz looses both their songs in this heat and the funny fact is that each song accumulated 176 points :o. They were only 8 points away from qualifying :snif:. At least they will be represented and competing with 'Clint Eastwood' in finals!!!
