I think it's fine as a reimagining for a remix album, but I'm less keen on the idea of them pushing it as a single when the original is superior and a hit waiting to happen.

Tbh, I highly doubt they'll push this as a single. It's not radio friendly in the slightest. Maybe there'll be a radio mix? that would be quite cool, they could release it for streaming/download too

This is EXACTLY how I feel. I'd enjoy it if it was a remix tacked onto the original, but not as a single of its own right leaving the superior original just sitting unreleased.

Could you not just enjoy it in its own right and not think about whether it's a single or not though?

At least we have the original. How long before her team do a 'Say So' and release the version we really want instead of the version they gave us...
I was hoping it'd be great despite the mixed/negative reception but for a dance remix the production is sadly rather lifeless. :( I hope we get some more clubby tracks on the album like the Paul Woolford remix of Hallucinate which I'm loving at the moment.

Also the edit I heard a while back had more Madonna on it - she had her own middle 8 where she even went into Lucky Star a bit - it was really cool. They cut it for Missy though which is fair enough, Missy sounds great on it.

Gah it's very one-note isn't it.

Missy's verse coming before Madonna's would sound better imo, and a bit more depth to the production.

Right now the big names feel wasted on this version, especially when the original track was already such a serve.

But the original is still there for them who choses to listen to, it's not like they've removed it.

this project is clearly a very passionate project for Dua but I am dreading the moment when the album full of remixes drops  if we go by reaction to this...

Yeah I’m not keen on this, as a song or a single or a “club mix” it’s just meh. Vocals are fantastic all around but that production drains the entire life out of the song :/ Even if this came on while I was out clubbing I’d get sick of it because it’s literally one of the most lifeless productions released this year imo

Maybe we were all expecting more given it was Dua x Missy x Madonna, hopefully other songs on the album are better than this

tbf I can see it working as part of the full package, and I feel the start of the song particularly hints at that. It’s just that it renders adding someone like Madonna to it pointless because it should be a big moment and not just like a small part of a mixtape. It definitely doesn’t feel like it should be listened to in isolation.

If they’re pushing this, I think they should release it with the normal production with Madonna and Missys parts added.

What was you expecting ??

This is much better than what I was expecting.

I guess it’s hard for fans who have been playing the original to death . But I have too !!!
