That's a massive impact for One Direction really for such a half arsed anniversary celebration. If they had actually dropped a new single it would have dominated (of course I wasn't expecting that to happen, I can't see them getting back together and releasing new music... probably ever tbh lol). Surprised that we haven't even had a new solo track from any of the 5 for this moment though.

 

Happy and a little surprised to see 'Little Things' being one of their highest songs, maybe it's a bit more respected among their wider fanbase than it seems to be on BuzzJack :lol: still my favourite 1D song, I don't usually care much for boyband ballads but there's always been something really charming about that one in particular for me ('Night Changes' is good as well). I don't really care much for most of the songs that have entered the top 50 ('Steal My Girl' is the only one I'd count as one of their best songs, 'Drag Me Down' is also ok, don't like the other 3 at all) but they're all pretty much what I'd expect, if anything I'm shocked 'History' is as low as their 5th song.

 

'One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)' returning though? Gross. x

There should a big gap in streaming figures between 4 and 5

Taylor now has 4 tracks top 10 (at least two of them outpeaking the entire Lover era, let alone the day Lover was released) and the whole album top 40 on AM (bar one at 43)!! I'm really excited to see her Spotify numbers tomorrow and how she holds, it's def started way stronger than I was expecting :heart:

Surprise releases are always like this. People have to listen to have any idea. It's the asset in having a surprise release - the downside is that one cannot build up an era with singles so the streaming total in the long run might come short.

 

The singles from Lover have great numbers on Spotify but they didn't had a massive day when the album arrived.

I guessed she'd do better than she did with 'Lover' on day 1 just due to being a surprise release but really didn't anticipate her first day being this massive! I guess the blanket critical love is helping a bit. (I still haven't heard any of it yet, it has a lot to live up to based on the reviews so far so this better be good Taylor xx)

 

Taylor aside, Nathan Dawe/KSI in at #21 and Little Mix at #41 (effectively #13/#28 respectively ignoring Taylor's excess album tracks).

 

Headie One/Drake down to #7 dropping behind DaBaby and Jawsh 685, so looking like that'll probably have cost itself a potential top 3 peak due to its midweek release, could still see it climbing to #4 or #5 though as it was still pretty far ahead of everything else as of yesterday and I don't see Taylor landing all 3 songs ahead of it ('cardigan' I think could possibly stay ahead though).

She broke the all time record of Ariana, female wise. Legend. Legend. Legend. With basically not a big support from Spotify unlike 3 songs in TTH AND NMF like Ariana, the better album won. Done.

But I thought the UK hated her and she'd do really bad?? :P
