March 14, 20241 yr @1767128335807815694 This article does a really good job at summing up my thoughts on the song. Yes, it was a clear attempt at winning back US radio and adopts a sound that was already established in the charts, but it doesn't deny this being a really catchy and well-produced song. I think that's what holds up most about the song the further we get from its release and, given how hit and miss a lot of Madonna's material was over the 2010s, I'd take good quality trend-following any day!
March 14, 20241 yr I enjoy the song, but I kind of always thought of it as 'Give it To Me' if you literally replace Nelly Furtado with Madonna.
March 15, 20241 yr Is it?? Well, just goes to show how well Love Profusion would fit on the album! Either that or Mandela effect and I was in an alternate plane where it was part of it! And Spanish Lesson is EASILY my favourite on this album, plus wirhin my top 10 Madonna sangs!! It was actually planned to be TJE big single, after 4 Minutes, and for that they included it on Ugñy Butty. HOWEVER, Ugly Betty flopped BADLY by that time and was axed, so no one heard the sang on it. Also, I don't know if you know this, BUT it is heavily rumoured that Madonna is the one playing the guitar in the track!!
