Let It Go is a euro-club pop dance banger. It's very of it's time, but in a good way, imo. I prefer it to the lead single from that era... but tbh, the album had better singles options! Speaking of the lead single... ... it falls out at #5! The final 'Heartbreak On Hold' track to leave and the lead single, Elephant is another "club banger" of the most generic kind. A banger and a top 3 hit for her, but really faceless and lacking in the Burke personality that we came accustomed to. We can't do this write up though, without mentioning the ICONIC interview where she claimed to bring the "Elephant In The Room" saying over here to the UK! *.* It is her best ever middle-8 though. GLORIOUS. Missing the top 3 is the final single taken from Alexandra's massive debut era! The Silence was on the original release of the album, but was saved to be the 5th and final single from the era as they re-issued the album in time for the big X Factor promotion. The performance was class! The song is a massive power ballad that really showcases Alexandra's finest vocal moments! Stunning song.
July 16, 20204 yr Author As we hit the top 3 of: All Night Long (feat. Pitbull) Bad Boys (feat. Flo-Rida) Broken Heels --- How would you have launched the HOH era!? For me: Heartbreak On Hold Between The Sheets Fire Let It Go
July 16, 20204 yr That's a stellar top 3. I'm pretty sure the final will be 'Bad Boys' vs 'All Night Long', although 'Broken Heels' is my fave!
July 16, 20204 yr Broken Heels is the best thing she’s ever done but going off the rate what had a lot of X Factor acts on it that was done quite recently on here I think one of the other two will win.
July 16, 20204 yr Author Broken Heels is the best thing she’s ever done but going off the rate what had a lot of X Factor acts on it that was done quite recently on here I think one of the other two will win.*cough*Ghost (comfortably!) WINNING that rate and "only" finishing 6th in Ryan Tedder's rate*cough*
July 17, 20204 yr Let It Go and Elephant are both generic, they are not bad, but Alex could do so, so much better. The Silence is a gorgeous song. Worked very well as a single, especially during the Christmas rush with the X Factor performance.
July 17, 20204 yr Ugh that section :cheeseblock: The Xfactor performance of The Silence still has me SHOOK I would release HOH like this Daylight Robbery Between The Sheets Heartbreak On Hold Elephant Remix
July 17, 20204 yr Elephant and Let It Go aside and Between The Sheets as well I wasn’t really a fan of the HOH era tbh. It was very faceless and generic pretty much anyone could have sung most of the songs and it was lacking in Alex’s personality that she had it Overcome. It’s shame the original 2nd Album she recorded got scrapped as it was apparently meant to be more Rnb based as well.
July 17, 20204 yr Author 03| BAD BOYS (feat. FLO-RIDA) [AVG. 8.90] Highest: troylovesmusic, Slick, Mack. & JosephStyles (11) + Nina West, Soapsfan20, TawdryHepburn, Jonjo, Rossco & Tim* (10) Lowest: Billy. (04) J9iVgw4sv-M Here is 3rd place! A surprise? :o Bad Boys was Alexandra first fully launched single after winning the X Factor 9 months or so before. This was a HUGE curveball and honestly, changed the game in terms of X Factor winning artists first proper single being a huge up-tempo, contemporary, pop smash! It spent a week at number 1 before it was knocked off the top spot by her own mentor Cheryl, the week after. The X Factor performance of this is STELLAR. You'd have thought she'd been in the business for years prior! The choreography, the vocals, Flo-Rida jumping on stage for his verse and then running off :') ICONIC. The song is perfection! It's so anthemic and was EXACTLY what Burke needed. I'm so thankful it wasn't a ballad (as much as I love her ballads!). A SONG.
July 17, 20204 yr I remember LOVING Bad Boys so much when it came out. I was so glad it was a dancey bop! The perfect start to her career. Amazing.
July 17, 20204 yr Bad Boy was and is so iconic what a moment it was ! should have been at least top 2 here imo . Edited July 17, 20204 yr by troylovesmusic
July 17, 20204 yr Heartbreak On Hold Between The Sheets Let It Go Would've been the order of singles for me. The first 2 are undeniable.
July 17, 20204 yr Author And at #2 iiiiissss.... ALL NIGHT LONG VS BROKEN HEELS 02| BROKEN HEELS [AVG. 9.074074074] Highest: ...ready for it, Tawdry Hepburn, Josh!, J00psyMethyd & George.keh (11) + Nick F1, Mack., JosephStyles & Tombo (10) Lowest: Billy., WinterFreeze & Hide&Seek (07) e2GecVOCxSM So your 2nd favourite Alexandra single is the empowering, power pop ANTHEM Broken Heels. The 2nd proper single from Alex's debut album was a collaboration with producer of the moment RedOne! It seemed like everyone and their dog was working with him since Lady Gaga broke through within the 14 months or so before this! Getting that trademark shout out "RED ONE!" seemed to be a huge pop cultural moment and it showed Syco were serious in launching Alexandra as the star she is. This was her 3rd UK top 10 hit and I seem to remember the video being played everywhere! Such a good video. Not a fave of mine, but it's a banger! Surprised to see it beat 'Bad Boys' in this rate though :o
July 17, 20204 yr I feel like Broken Heels doesn't get mentioned as much as All Night Long or Bad Boys, but I'm glad to see such a strong outcome for it, it's absolutely fantastic!!
