Northern Star has moved up to #10 on Melanie C's most 'Popular' tracks on Spotify with 3.8 million streams.

Her best single. Should be in the Top3 at the very least :teresa:

^ Actually, I'm surprised Northern Star wasn't in her top ten most popular tracks already. After When You're Gone, Never Be The Same Again, and I Turn To You, wouldn't Northern Star be the next biggest hit in line?...by a pretty considerable margin?

(...though I know First Day Of My Life was a considerable hit in certain markets...)

Should be, yes. FDOML was a bigger hit though, and the other ones in there were more recent or have more playlisting whereas Northern Star is one of her 'forgotten hits' from back then.

It is probably on the level of 'I recognise the song if I stumble across it but never remember it just of the top of my head' for most people, so searches are limited.

Wonder what made it gain some traction now though. Did it get any playlisting?

I'm pretty certain that Northern Star was within Melanie's Top 10 prior to the 'Melanie C' era, so I guess it'll climb back up slowly as this current era's streaming becomes gradually weaker.

Regarding Spotify, it's interesting to me that a couple of her recent songs have performed better as alternate versions than the original versions have!

I think a few of us already know how Blame It On Me acoustic did pretty great numbers for her - 2,595,914 on Spotify as of today, more than the album version - 2,086,282. As well as this, the Todd Terry Remix of Overload (994,793) has outdone the album version (920,798).

I think it just shows how important playlistings are tbh. I'd assume the Todd Terry remix got playlisted somewhere since he's a "name"?

Yep, it's kind of sad for the music industry as a whole that the chart is a glorified radio play chart now as that's essentially what play lists are.

For the first time ever (correct me if I'm wrong), Melanie has more than 1,300,000 monthly listeners on Spotify!

In addition, When You're Gone has just passed 99,000,000 Spotify streams. 100,000,000 - here we go! :dancing:

Melanie's remix of 'I like u' has moved up to #4 on her most 'Popular' tracks on Spotify. It has been streamed 175,502 times so far (by 125,159 different listeners!).

By the way, I've just had a look at the This Is Melanie C playlist. It has 51 tracks in total and is a pretty good mix of old & new material, including collaborations.

That is a good mix. Interesting they also include her remix for other artists on there too!
