Have you seen that if you add to the cart the bundle of 3xLP book + deluxe cd, you can add 2000 or more? It's weird

Oh that’s weird! It makes me wonder whether the amount shown for the book by itself isn’t necessarily how many there actually are, I guess it could just be random.

What? If you buy multiple copies in one transaction it’s one sale?? What about the bundles are they counted as one sale? Surely not?

There’s definitely no problem in regards to bundles - for instance the Vinyl Book/CD/Cassette bundle will definitely count as 3 sales!

When it comes to buying multiples of the same format in the same transaction, I don’t think there’s proof that it would count as just one sale. It possibly stems from fans being cautious. I personally doubt that if you bought 2 or 3 copies of the same CD that it would only register as one sale.

Well to be on the safe side I’ll be doing separate transactions!!!

I’m buying the HMV vinyl and shipping them for people who are wanting them abroad.

Melanie is currently at 856k Spotify listeners. It would be great if she could reach 900k by the time the album is out :)
Mel now has an average of 893K monthly listeners on Spotify! Surely this is the highest number we have seen in a long time.

For the book item: if you add it to your cart & change the number to 2000, it then changes that number to show how many are in stock! There’s 1,795 now. The only thing that isn’t clear is how many there were in the first place.

If this number really is an indication of how many copies are in stock, 6 days later it's down to 1,788.

It is actually the highest it has ever been since Spotify launched. :cheer:

That enough to get her top 30 alone which is a good start.

A lot of her sales will come from outside of the UK though.

It’s still early days and I hope that upcoming promo & support from Radio 2 will get these formats selling. I’m a little concerned that she over-egged it by having so many vinyl versions tbh.

Regarding the book format, I think it should have only included the album on vinyl, i.e. not including the 2 additional vinyl (which are completely pointless anyway), and have it priced at £45-£50 instead of £75.

There is no way she produced only 500 copies of the standard version while producing 2000 copies of the pricey book. These estimations are simply wrong and way off.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was only 500, she knows surely that the regular cd and some of these formats will be cheaper and easier to get or pick up from HMV, Amazon etc.

Most hard-core fans aren't going to order a singular standard cd, they will go for a bundle. Sales through her site will be her main fanbase, supermarkets, Amazon, hmv's sales will be more casual fans and more likely to just pick up a regular cd. That is why cassettes are always sold through artists webstore as no one but hard-core fans are picking up cassettes from an artist.

Some of Melanie's old singles have had their artworks changed from HQ files into scans of physical copies. How odd?!

For example:

  This Time single has also been changed to a scan of This Time album cover.

Other odd changes include "(Edited Version)" added to I Want Candy and Carolyna EPs and Stages.

It probably has something to do with her new management, but I can't for the life of me figure out why they'd change to scanned copies?

All the Red Girl catalog was re-uploaded to streaming & download services early this year since Melanie changed her digital distributor. I imagine they didn't find the original HQ files of the artworks, so they had to scan them.
