Taylor has referred to cardigan, august and betty as 3 songs exploring young love and calls them 'the teenage love triangle', with the 3 songs exploring the love triangle from all 3 people's perspectives at different times in their lives -> cardigan (Betty, reminiscing when she's older), august (the other woman, likely told from a point in the future) and betty (James, told from a teenager's perspective)

I didn’t realise this was a love triangle and these three songs were connected. Just listened to them again and l like the links.

 

1. Cardigan - on my first couple of listens, I wasn’t sure why this had been chosen as the first single (a few more songs stuck out for me as instantly more likeable), however after listening to this the past week, I can understand why it’s the first single - it’s a real grower for me.

cardigan is my favourite :heart: then I'd probs say august 2nd and Betty 3rd but they are both neck and neck for me!!
