She was never going to light up the singles chart anyway though. It's just that 'Say Something' isn't building up hype for the album in the same way that 'Dancing' did.

You have also got to take into account the current climate. Kylie can’t do the promo she could do pre-Covid. Dancing was covered by numerous tv/radio interviews plus performances (Saturday Night Takeaway notes below being one of the biggest).

The song has been well received and doing just fine for where Kylie is career wise now. I do hope she can get into the top 75 still by album release time. Maybe another Gente de zona remix is what is needed

I do agree with all that but all I'm saying is that 'Say Something', while not a bad song, just isn't as iconic sounding as 'Dancing' was. If there's stronger songs on the album then I'll be annoyed that she didn't lead with one of those instead of 'Say Something'. Maybe she's saving a bigger sounding song for the second single? Anyway let's just hope that the album can sneak a week at the top!

I think Dancing surpassed expectations to be fair, it really cemented itself as a Kylie classic despite "only" peaking low top 40. Say Something isn't doing what Dancing did but that's okay, it doesn't need to be any sort of hit on its own. Singles chart success is a bonus at this stage for Kylie really.

Dancing done great at picking up sales over a long period after getting some great performances, i love say something and i think its suffering from no promo but chart success of any kind in the singles as you said is a bonus for Kylie, its the album the focus will be on.

Yeah I completely agree with this, ‘Dancing’ was such an earworm. I’ve heard ‘Say Something’ many times and still struggle to recall anything. It’s lacking a big chorus or something, just not a very memorable song. Radio 2 were always going to play it and Kylie fans were always going to buy it but ‘Dancing’ just had a broader appeal. It’s not just about promo. Saying that it performed well enough, reaching the top 100, I just think she can do better than this song

The new single by Clean Bandit sounds like a big hit to me.
