I really wanted a shock/surprise winner, but that wasn't to be :( The video was directed with Jonas Åkerlund and portrays Gaga as a doomed starlet, hounded by photographers, who is almost killed by her boyfriend. It shows her survival, comeback, revenge on her boyfriend, and experiences on the way to fame. The video was released to critical acclaim and won two VMA's in 2009 for Best Art Direction and Best Special Effects. Gaga performed the song at the 2009 MTV VMA's in a performance art piece symbolizing the negative effect of fame leading to death. The performance has gone down in history amongst her fans as perhaps her best ever live performance. My fave all time Gaga video. Perfection. :heart: Let's move on to our winner, and to the surprise of nobody it's the video for... qrO4YZeyl0I Bad Romance :lol: :wub: The music video for 'Bad Romance' features Gaga getting kidnapped by a group of supermodels who drug her and sell her to the Russian mafia for sexual slavery. The video sees Gaga burning alive the man who bought her. It garnered massive acclaim from critics, who complimented the risqué and symbolic nature of the plot, as well as its artistic direction and vivid imagery. At the 2010 VMA's, it was nominated for ten awards, where Gaga won seven, including Video of the Year. It won the Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video. In 2011, the video was voted the best video of the decade by Billboard magazine. Time magazine also included the video on its list of best music videos since the 1980's. The very definition of a masterpiece in every way - both song and video. She'll struggle to create anything so beloved, but it's Gaga...so never say never! August 17, 20204 yr 'Bad Romance' is my second favourite out of her whole videography, a fantastic winner :wub: I remember being blown away by it on first watch and feeling invested in the battle between that and Bieber's 'Baby' for most viewed video on YouTube. Things have changed a LOT since then :lol: My whole top 5 would be: 01. Telephone 02. Bad Romance 03. Paparazzi 04. Poker Face 05. Judas Nostalgia probably plays a huge part in my 'Poker Face' adoration but it truly was such a striking video! Wish that had done a bit better :heart:
