I dont think all is lost yet with Ellie. Close to Me done more than fine and she is still constantly in the top 100 most listened to artists on Spotify. She just needs to come back with something that is solid and thought. Brightest Blue was good but should have been led with Close to Me, Love im Given and Tides.

One song did more than fine? That’s not exactly high praise. She’s not had a successful original solo single in over 5 years now. Plus in these recent months she’s been consistently outside of the top 100. Before Brightest Blue’s release she was in the 60s.

This is such a disappointment, it’s far to repetitive and Ellie’s voice really grates on me during this
not clicking with me on first listen.. will give a few more listens but agree its very repetitive :(
repeat post

On a first listen this is sounding AWESOME. I hope it can be a hit for them
Was a bit disappointed considering all the names involves. I think production/song structure in particular is lacking as 'I got new love, new love in me' is not a great chorus especially when nothing is going on instrumentally. I feel like this would be a lot better with a dance remix as I can see Ellie's vocals with an amped up club ready backing would work well. Shame as Silk City have been so good so far at making interesting dancepop collabs.

I agree, that one hook repeated through the pre-chorus and actual chorus isn't strong enough, it needs to be one or the other and something else to make it more eventful. There is a good song in there somewhere though and it's definitely one of the best things Ellie has put her name to in a long while ('Power' aside).
