Where on earth has this "omg she's gonna release on 9/11" rumour even come from?! Fans need to stop being dramatic for no reason

She's from New York, no way she would actually go through with that rumour... no way.
Both Gypsy and G.U.Y. would flop if they were released as singles, and the situation isn't much different, because we are talking about 3rd singles in both situations. 911 works as an album track, but it doesn't work as a single, that's a fact.

But anything as the 3rd single from ARTPOP would have flopped at that point, she's in a much better position now.

I, like you would much prefer 'Alice' though.

that was different. ARTPOP had some potential hits left like Gypsy that would've definitely done better.

But now with Chromatica, seeing how radio treated ROM, I don't feel like there is ANY song that's gonna be a hit. So why don't just please the fans since she's gonna flop anyways?

Gypsy? LMFAO, this song would tank even more, compared to it, G.U.Y. seems to have been the right choice, even though it wasn't.

The answer to your question: Because Alice is the biggest chance she has of having another hit from this album at this point, and because she shouldn't waste time and money releasing fillers whose buzz will last only a week after its release???

This is not true. Free Woman only recently passed the 100k mark. Sour Candy is the only song that will reach 500k by Q1, the rest will struggle to reach 200k. I mean, how do you expect each of those songs to add an extra 400k units in the US alone when they are barely pulling 100k daily on Spotify? Doesn't make much sense.

I don't rely on what chartdata says, I make my own estimates, and according to my estimates, all 3 main album tracks of the album have sold over 200,000 units in the US. In addition, Chartdata doesn't update sales automatically, when it's said that a song sold over 100,000 units, it may be at like 150,000 units sold or even more, and Sour Candy has sold over 600,000 units in the US for some time now.

But where is the "opportunity"? What song could be a hit? Also, Gaga has nothing left to prove, especially after she had such a big hit with ROM this year, so I don't think anyone's gonna care if she flops with a 3rd post-album single.

Sour Candy is the only song that could reach Platinum in the US if they decide to push it, but I doubt it could be put on TTH again.

The opportunity is obvious: Alice, Replay and Babylon are much more commercial and radio friendly songs than 911, plus, the more hits the better, why waste time releasing fillers when you can go further with the right move?

I know that in the streaming era, after the album release, the fertile period for future hits is almost over and the chances of getting a hit after that are rare, but she can try and fight for another hit instead of kicking the stick and releasing a G.U.Y. 2.0 that will last only a week on the charts. Also, Sour Candy has sold over 600,000 units (375k with Spotify + YouTube only) in the US, this song will get platinum until the end of the year.

If Chartdata said that Katy Perry's Daisies has sold over 500,000 units in the US, imagine Sour Candy, which has literally the double of Daisies' streams (Spotify + YouTube combined) and was way more successful on AM US & pure sales?!

Huge no, its not terrible but its the weakest on the album along with Plastic Doll and it'd be one of her weakest singles. Ugh with an album this good, we can't get the right single.

I’m here for anything being a single tbh it’s definitely time to push something else though and this does have potential to take off outside the stan fanbase.

However how many times in the past have we been convinced of Gaga doing something on a specific date and it not happening

I don't think she's teasing that she's releasing on 9/11, just that 911 is the next single. Fans are reading into this incorrectly

That's my thinking too!

Was 911 always on the A-list Pop playlist on AM UK?
