Lowering the lyrics of ROM and SL doesn't make Savage's lyrics any better, Gaga songs don't have such desperate lyrics.

And song is more than lyrics, right? Megan has had a tremendous year and is very deserving of a Grammy nomination for Savage.

I don't want to turn this into a Megan vs GaGa thing, but when we talk about lyrics, it's not like GaGa herself has always been a Shakespearean poet, so I don't really see the point in attacking Megan for some of her lyrics. Both woman are successful, talented and Grammy nominated so let's celebrate that

First of all, if a song isn't totally instrumental, most people concentrate on analysing the composition of that song and I am one of them. Savage's lyrics are horrible. Justifying Megan's Grammy noms with the argument that she had an "tremendous" year is bullshit, because The Weeknd had a much better year than hers and yet he didn't get any nominations. Gaga also had a better year than Megan and she only received 2 noms, which proves that having a successful year isn't the reason for an artist to be nominated. Another proof of that is that out of 8 albums nominated to AOTY, only 3 were successful: Hollywood's Bleeding, Folklore and Future Nostalgia. Also, think before you try to diminish Gaga's incredible ability to compose by comparing her to Shakespeare, because, besides not making any sense,

The Grammys have always been kind of a head scratcher for me.

I mean. I can generally watch a batch of movies and tell what the Oscars are going to like. A movie like, say, Wonder Woman may get glowing reviews, but everyone knows that's just not the kind of movie that gets nominated for Best Picture. The Oscars are largely predictable.

In a way, the Grammys are less predictable and pretentious than the Oscars, I guess. Something fun and light and popular actually CAN get nominated at the Grammys (like Savage this year), but that makes it actually a little more confusing why certain other things get shut out. I get on a certain level that music industry insiders can recognize a level of excellence in releases that maybe I don't. But. To me? If I had to name the one song that truly summed up the year, it'd be Blinded by the Light. And it's a bit shocking to me that The Weeknd got shut out completely. And they've even recognized his work before.

Anyway. It's not new. The Grammys famously shut out the Spice Girls after they conquered 1997. Madonna never won a Grammy for her music until the Ray of Light era...and that meant snubbing a whole lot of iconic stuff.

Yeah! I think it's pretty clear that him performing at the Super Bowl affected here. Even though they don't admit it. It's all about politics.

Remember when Steely Dan won AOTY for Two Against Nature, an album that no one remembered then let alone now. It's always been a bizarre institution.
