That's all well and good but WHERE IS THE QUIZ?

TOTAL UK TOP 40 HITS: 22

BIGGEST UK HIT: SOUND OF THE UNDERGROUND (#1, 2002) I’LL STAND BY YOU (#1, 2004) WALK THIS WAY (#1, 2007) THE PROMISE (#1, 2008)

Queen finishing above Girls Aloud on Buzzjack, what is going on? :o

Anyway a great finish for one of the UK's finest girl bands. My two favourite GA tracks weren't released as singles: 'Miss You Bow Wow' and 'Not Tonight Santa' which I'm playing a lot right now

Queen for number one? Nothing would surprise me any more!

It's a relief that this poll wasn't won by a group that didn't write their own songs.

So it's Queen v Spice Girls. I really hope Queen can upset the odds.

Girls Aloud. My absolute faves although Spice Girls are a VERY close 2nd (and Queen aren't far behind) so id be happy with any of them winning.

GA have such amazing songs and they were always brilliant live. Despite not being the best singers in the game (minus Nadine and Nicola) they were such a pop force. Really hope that they can reform for their 20th anniversary in 2022 (and hoping Sarah doesn't get any worse) ❤️

Girls Aloud's list of #1s is a disappointing reflection of a generally exciting singles discography, with half of them being inessential covers

My top 5 of theirs is probably:

01. Sexy! No No No...

02. Biology

03. Something Kinda Ooooh

04. Wake Me Up

05. Call The Shots

Im pleased GA didnt win they have some nice songs nothing iconic though.

Girls Aloud are my favourite band of all time, although they are not as shiny and exciting now it's been a while since they had new music.

Spice Girls is my fave out of the two left but I have no issues with Queen potentially winning as they are iconic in their own right.

Girls Aloud's list of #1s is a disappointing reflection of a generally exciting singles discography, with half of them being inessential covers

So true. Thankfully SOTU and The Promise are two of their best.

1. No Good Advice

2. Biology

3. The Loving Kind

4. Wake Me Up

5. Sexy! No No No

6. The Promise

7. Untouchable

8. Sound Of The Underground

9. Life Got Cold

10. Call The Shots

So many amazing pop songs I can't stop at 5. Jump is probably my favourite cover from them but besides that I don't care for their covers. I'll Stand By You, See The Day, I Think We're Alone Now and Walk This Way are very skip worthy.

Girls Aloud actually did some great B-sides too, which not a lot of pure pop bands do. 'Memory Of You', 'Crazy Fool' and 'I Don't Really Hate You' are as good as most of their singles tbh.

Surprised but pleased Queen are top 2.

I just hope their alive members can sing "We are the champions, my friends' after the winner is announced here. :P

Thanks to all who voted and/or commented! It's been a blast.

I still can't get over the fact that Queen beat all those pop bands to number two - I didn't even think they'd finish top ten!!

Kinda suspected all along that Spice Girls were going to come out on top though, no matter what you think of their music you can't deny their cultural legacy. It's just a shame their career was comparatively short-lived, but at least it paved the way for some excellent solo stuff from Mel C :D

Great countdown, really enjoyed it!
