I am gutted that ChelseaBoy didn't win this week. Her runway was absolutely GORGEOUS and really fit the theme I thought? Plus she won the Snatch Game by a mile. I know it's Envy's to win just now (which I wouldn't be mad at) but she's next in line IMO.

Omg I would die for Envy's mum, pure joy and you could tell she loved every minute :wub: In fact I loved Abby's brother as well, it was lovely to see a straight guy from his backgorund support his brother being a drag queen, and ofc Pa'Pa Queen as well! Lovely episode, and I agreed with all the judging for once! Envy killed it and was the clear winner EASILY, but this is the first time i've enjoyed Abby's output too. It was still pretty basic but it was great to see her do something different and have a bit of fun with it. Ma'Ma's presentation was great but it's the one time I haven't liked her look on the runway, bt I didn't care because it was such a joy seeing her dad get into it like that.

 

As with Sederginne last week, sad to see Chelsea go for sure but based on that episode, it was the right outcome :( For someone capable of what Chelsea is capable of, that was a really dull look, and her lipsync was a mess unfortunately. Janey's look was basic and boring too so right bottom 2 for me. It was nice to see a bit more personality and vulnerability from Janey this episode though!

 

Rusical next week so I'd be surprised if Envy didn't get 4 wins in a row :lol: She is really killing it but that does kinda make it boring and predictable sometimes as we already know she's winning the whole thing, but she really does deserve it. I thought we'd get a Ball instead, they should have done a Rusical instead of that random voguing challenge.

That was the best lip sync so far tbh. As sad as I was to see my favourite Chelsea Boy leave I did think it was right giving the rest of the looks but I was shocked it was Janey she had to lip sync against...Ma'Ma Queen's look was so done before (not style I mean more the pregnancy look and she even did it for her entrance look) so i was like eh would have liked to see her in the bottom too. Janey actually was my second fave with envy tbh. That black hair was STUNNNG.

 

How has 9 to 5 not been used in a lip sync until now???

The judging continues to be ridiculous

 

As I saw on another blog, they reckoned ChelseaBoy was marked down simply because she didnt have a big emotional moment with a family member because her makeover was only a friend.

 

The editing is getting hilarious with how weird it is on this show too. All the sad music around Mama Queen and her father, juxtaposed against the fact they're stood there with fake pregnancy bellies... and it went on for as long as Sederginne's fainting episode interlude...

 

Abby's costume was ok but her partner's was crap and his runway walking was like the abominable snowman. But of course, she can do no wrong. Wouldn't be surprised to see her make it to the final now. (OMG)

Abby’s costume (yes, “costume”) was wrinkled and cheap. The performance was Oh My Basic as usual too. Yay mortal combat

Ngl the thing i disliked the most about about abby's look was that she had sai's but the her sister (the mileena) had a sword. Abby should of had fans and the sister have pinl sai's to give the full fantasy.

This is getting even more ridiculous than Canada's Drag Race now... Why the hell do they keep Abby around? Go back to Party City where you belong!

 

Fred suddenly deciding that Ma'ma's performance in the mini challenge will be taken into consideration...

 

Janey Jacke doing a Jimbo actually having the best makeover only to end up in the bottom...

 

Envy Peru winning again, already obvious she's getting the crown, zero suspense only half way through the season...

 

ChelseaBoy also doing a Jimbo having to lipsync with hair not made for performing... It should have been ChelseaBoy vs Abby OMG at least...

I thought Envy was getting over praised until I saw this weeks episode...jesus that look was to die for :wub: she can win now the whole thing and I wouldn't be upset!!!

 

And Abby OMG, why the bar for someone like her is so low to survive but not the same for Chelsea Boy?! They decided to send home Chelsea Boy because she is amazing and always gave a 5 on the runway but today she gave us 4 and she needs to go home, while Abby OMG went from always being 1 to 2 and omg you're a fighter and you deserve to stay?!! Meh!!!

That was the most bizarre episode of drag race ever??? The only part I agreed with was Janey winning the challenge. Her runway looks were stunning.

 

Fred be like: Don't be bottom two again Abby....Abby gets bottom 2 again...Fred double saves??? I thought at least it was gonna be Ma'Ma queen winning the lip sync or at most double sashay tbh, it was so boring, the two in the back were giving me life more lmao. It feels a bit of favoritism towards Abby for some reason?? Imagine the looks Sederginne and Chelseas woulda delivered at this challenge.

Janey definitely won the Rusical but I thought her first two runways were the weakest along with Abby's, Envy killed the runway as usual. I loooooved Janey's third, but the first two were forgettable and quite basic, they were too literal of an interpretation of the theme and felt like rough drafts before she settled on the third one as a final look? I don't think Envy's Rusical was as meh as they made out and she should have got that win tbh, she deserved it more than she did during Snatch Game, the voguing challenge and arguably the gym one too? It feels like they just went "aw Janey has only had one win, Envy's had enough". Actually that episode just felt pointless, the "ball" esque runway just felt rushed. If they HAD to do a double shantay, they should have done a competitive ball episode next week and THEN the finale. But with a god awful lipsync like that, it should have been a double sashay, and it probably would have been earlier in the season. Seriously what a total and utter dead performance, absolutely no passion, fight, flare or determination on either part. I'd have hated Ma'Ma not to get to the final, but it would have been what she and Abby both deserved after that.

 

The way they kept saying that they were all so great and it was hard to decide, I feel like they'd have done a double shantay whatever happened, they were building to it all episode. They should either have decided it with a proper Ball next week like I said, or just cut Abby on track record. It looks to be another performance based challenge so really they could have done the Ball this week actually and had a RuMix kind of thing for the finale like usual. Idk it just feels like they crammed two mainstay challenges into one episode so that neither shone and the episode felt pointless, I enjoyed this the least of any episode alongside the voguing and workout ones where there was little point even having a challenge.

idk if I can add anything to the Abby oh-my-BASIC-shantay-you-stay narrative they keep shoving down our throats so I'll just say that Janey's Rusical was INCREDIBLE. Every single movement and moment. Her best performance on Drag Race by far for me.

 

Envy is obviously the winner so no point even entertaining the idea of someone else having a chance at getting the crow so I'm going to say... NIKKIE TUTORIALS!!! She's back for the finale and I'm so f***ing happy.

I didnt realise until after that Mama Queen actually fell over at the end of her split and it wasn't intentional.

 

Hilarious episode, I screamed at how shady the Rusical was since apparently Queen Maxima is nothing like that and was a high-powered charity advocate before she married into the royal family, not a party girl stripper!

 

I was shocked they didn't go for an Abby-Envy lipsync because surely that was the one reason for keeping Abby around? Really baffling. Envy did well this episode runway-wise, really amazing to bring a concept to every look on top of the main theme. Also the PUPPET CHALLENGE this episode - Envy tore Mama Queen to shreds and deservedly tbh! I do think that her drag isn't really a fit for Drag Race. The looks this week were very kooky in a way that made me question if she actually can do proper glamour if its called for - like queens like Sharon Needles or Crystal Methyd could pull out if needed, but usually chose not to.

 

As for Janey, agree with Liam. Her runways were very on the nose and tbh even her last look paled in comparison to what Envy was wearing - waist-high red latex boots under a side split maxi dress (!) But her challenge performance was definitely a winner.

 

The judges keep coming across like they've never seen drag before. Like they were so impressed that Abby could dance in heels, it's like... yes that is her job ma'am. Read U Wrote U would blow these judges minds imo :o

I love Ma'Ma :( I think she's got a raw deal a lot of the time, being placed low on episode 1 over a small thing, and most of all being criticised for Half Man, Half Queen just because the judges were ignorant to a non-binary interpretation of the challenge, and most of all being placed in the three-way lipsync over a pair of shoes. I do agree she could have done with more glamour in this week's looks, but I don't think every queens needs to be glamorous. You can get that from any old drag queen and I feel like Ma'Ma looks at things differently, in a way that doesn't always work granted and perhaps a way that isn't quite "Drag Race", but I appreciate her presence this season.

 

Agreed on the last point though, Abby is like a basic "first look" at what a drag queen is, in a way that most people probably already know without seeing drag :lol: If you didn't have anything lese to compare you might think "wow look at her dancing on heels!!" but then surely a guest judge seeing what the likes of Envy, Sederginne and Chelsea could do would see that Abby is just the baseline!

That felt... kinda anticlimactic as a finale? No real challenge, I know the choreo and lipsync performance must have been difficult, but it was the same sort of thing as the Rusical. I feel they should have done a Ball last week as the full challenge then done a top 3 RuMix kind of challenge like the one they did for U Wear It Well in Drag Race Canada, maybe. Idk, it was just a lot of overly sentimental bits even for Drag Race.

 

I did feel emotional for Ma'ma though, I said the same on Twitter but I think it was really important to have someone like her on the show, when we've got a lot of controversy over gender and drag for Ru and his thoughts on trans queens, it might be a slightly different issue but to have someone who is apologetically non binary and embraces loving yourself for it like Ma'Ma does, was just amazing to see. She shows that drag isn't black and white, it's not just glamour and dresses. She's such a pure soul and a wonderful person, I've loved watching her.

 

Very happy for Envy, as obvious as it was :lol: She was flawless throughout, barely put a foot wrong as much as I think a couple of her wins were a bit "hmm". Gorgeous runways, a strong and warm personality, and just pure star quality. I grew to like Janey by the end too, she was much more rounded than the bitch edit made her seem for much of the season, I liked seeing the vulnerability she showed of late.

 

I enjoyed this season as a whole but like Canada, there's definitely some kinks to iron out if they do another one (and apparently they filmed two pretty much back to back I've heard on the grapevine). Some of the editing in particular, like Jupiter said the random out of place soundbeds they chuck in are very odd to the point of comedy sometimes. The judging was off at various points as well, but that's part and parcel of Drag Race these days sadly! I think the issue is that they decided what they wanted from a winner and that was it, they wanted the glamour/fashion/fish and "classic" drag that Envy and Janey gave, and the ones who didn't give that often got a bit of a rough deal and not much of a chance to shine or get their wins (especially looking at Sederginne and ChelseaBoy). I think they need to sort out the challenges and be a bit more open with the type of drag they favour, because the heart and personality of the show is there, it really sets itself apart from other incarnations and has its own identity, it's just got some teething problems.

The moment where Fred said "I could point out flaws, but I'm sure you could do the same for me" and instantly Envy said "yeah!" is reason enough for her to deserve the win.

In retrospect if they'd reordered the challenges a little, it wouldn'tve seemed like such a one horse race bc Janey dominated these last two performances.

 

Tbh, I also think Janey won that final lipsync hands down, and it's unfortunate that when the finale comes down to a lipsync performance, the last two episodes before that showdown basically hammer home that Envy Peru, the presumed winner, isn't really a super great musical performer.

 

Her track record speaks for itself though and her drag was the most polished of the cast nearly every week, with only ChelseaBoy really being able to hold a candle in my book. ALSO. Lol at Abby's final look being basically Envy's entrance look mug and wig, but in a black dress she probably had already. She looked good, but I seriously do think she was taking influence from her and then being all Bebe Zahara Benet saying she didn't get help from Aja about it.
