November 29, 200618 yr i think we are supposed to accept the theory, as to date its the best explaination. what would be medieval is the acceptance as 'truth' of the bibles version of events... but where the elements came from prior to the big bang is another matter....
November 29, 200618 yr That is just so amazing.. because of that I'm absolutely positive that there is life somewhere around the universe :D however I don't think it's going to be possible for anyone to discover much more or go that much further in our lifetime :( I mean it would be amazing if we were able to explore those galaxies somehow.

You think the Bible is the only alternative for believing in the Big Bang? lol. I´m not sayng the Big Bang theory is not the best explanation, just that 99% of normal human beings don´t understand it and they accept it as truth just because someone more intelligent then them has said so.
November 30, 200618 yr You think the Bible is the only alternative for believing in the Big Bang? lol. .... no i dont! but its just the obvious alternative :) normal human beings don´t understand it and they accept it as truth just because someone more intelligent then them has said so. which is EXACTLY how religion works!

There's this theory that is being put around that life, the universe and everything was the product of some sort of 'intelligent design'... They're trying to make out that it has nothing to do with religion or 'God', but come on... If you talk about 'Intelligent Design' or a 'Great Architect', then, sorry, but that to me is just a clever, alternate way saying a 'God' type being exists so that it'll sound more palatable to Secular or Atheist opinion....

Intelligent design is another form of creationism... But what I mean is, religion itself is not the only alternative to the Big Bang, there must be some other real scientific theories aswell, since a few atheist scientist don´t believe on the Big Bang either. I was chatting with my philosophy teacher the other day and she is an atheist but she doesn´t believe in the Big Bang either. She says Big Bang is another from of creationism, because sayng that the Universe had a begining is like sayng there is a creator.
November 30, 200618 yr I'm agnostic. I don't believe in the big bang theory or god. Neither convince me.

She says Big Bang is another from of creationism, because sayng that the Universe had a begining is like sayng there is a creator. Hang on... The "Big Bang" theory as I understand it is a totally random occurrence with no design or purpose behind it.. 'Big Bang' is surely the very antithesis of Creationism, because Creationism implies an intelligence or a purpose at work, whereas "Big Bang" says it's all random...
November 30, 200618 yr why has my moon coment been deleted??? because i wasnt having that nonsense in this thread... i created another thread for that contencious topic....
November 30, 200618 yr intelligent design though may be more accurate then that... it gives the possibility of a 'god' like intelligence behind creation, but falls short of religion. after all, the very world we live on is a fantastically balanced place teaming with interactive life forms on a variety of rock types fashioned by nature over many milennia... life is fantastic, and it exists, so whatever caused that to be... intelligence or natural law, is something that we have yet to quantify.
November 30, 200618 yr i saw something on Discovery Science about a Time Machine and how if it were possible you travel at half the speed of a light years and travelled 200 of them and returned to Earth, then you would have barely aged but the Earth would be 200 years further on. Something aong those lines, quite odd to get your head around
November 30, 200618 yr So is the Universe Never ending? Like whats beyond the Universe lol According to the big bang theory the universe is still expanding due to the force of the bang pushing everything out, in the future, gravity will over come the momentum of the bang and everything will return to the original spot and the process will happen again. This was thought of because redshift in galaxies suggested that they were moving. You can then trace them all back to one point. Using this method physicists know most things that happened all the way back to the first 0.4 secounds. before that is anyones guess. :D
