I've really disliked the Mick and Katy storyline and was not excited by the prospect of them dominating last night's episode, but I was pleasantly surprised. Kellie was particularly fantastic and even Danny stepped his game up, their scenes together were the best either character has been in a long time. The past week has given me hope for this show again after being at my wit's end...!

Tonight's episode starts at 8:35pm :nocheer:

Phil and Sharon are not going to kill Ian. Why are they dragging this out?

Ian did have a cheek though, Sonia just back from an 18 hour shift and he’s popping round for special medical treatment.

I feel like Sonia's scenes last night would have been much more impactful if she hadn't been off-screen for weeks and we had seen the pressure of her job building up.

I'm guessing we're not going to get any aftermath with Mick despite him nearly killing himself and realising he was abused?

What’s wrong with Sonia I was confused ?

The stress of working in healthcare during COVID. But like Liam says, it’s not effective because all she’s done since EE returned is tell Gray to shush and randomly get given a car. We haven’t even had scenes of her rushing into work and last night was the first time we’ve even seen her in a hospital despite many hospital scenes since September.

I’m trying to work out if they’ve actually made Ian look more unwell or they’ve just increased Sharon’s tan.

I like how they have introduced the Sonia storyline because it really does need exposure but... it would have more weight behind it if literally anyone in the character rosta actually upheld social distancing/masks/any of the Covid restrictions. Odd that they are bringing Covid to the limelight and yet no characters are acting as if there is a pandemic at all!
And what’s worse, they haven’t even given Sonia’s story enough respect to continue it in the very next episode!

Omg Patrick cannot die.

This Sharon stuff is ridiculous. It was fun for a camp Christmas reveal but now she’s swiping Jean’s medication?

I don't know how Steve McFadden managed to get through the line "why would I threaten the woman raising my kid".

The only positive I get out of this Ian/Sharon mess is the thought of Kathy slaying in the reveal. She's one of the only real characters left in the show.

Chelsea is so playing Lucas, which helps make a bit more sense out of the story.

Nice to see Jean again. Can we get some follow up on her cancer scare?

Typical the only time they give Sonia a storyline is when it's for her a temporary exit due to budget issues.

Rudolph Walker is fantastic. I can't wait for the follow up to what happened to Patrick in six months time.

Shit, I forgot about the cancer scare. This is so poor right now.
It was genuinely my highlight of the Christmas Day episode so it's typical it's just been forgotten about. That really does show a lack of care in storylining.

I used to like Ruby too :selena:

I've never seen a show in six months that's made almost all their likeable characters unlikeable.

Tell me about it! :drama: It's hard to really see the likes of Gray and Lucas as villains when most of the characters are just as, if not more, morally bankrupt as them.

The character assassination on Ruby is so disappointing. It was so refreshing to see a young, independent woman not defined by marriage and children, but now she's married Martin, seemingly as a way of getting back on Stacey, and is so desperate to hold onto him she's going to fake a pregnancy.

I just don’t see the point of bringing Ruby back if this is what they were going to do with her. What she really needed was stories outside of Martin and Stacey.
