Ok, I’m a bit of an insomniac, so I went down the rabbit hole. These are the only discrepancies that I noticed. I hope this helps some. I’ll try to find the appropriate links from Spice News or other

I never found credits for All We Need, so that is definitely interesting to see. It’s been a good 15 years since I searched publishing for the Touch era writers. I kinda lost interest and was more int

Love Thing - Using the Instanbul tour version as the single version

Never Give Up On The Good Times

If You Wanna Have Some Fun

Tell Me Why

all should have been singles. Based on their Spotify numbers most fans prefer their uptempo singles over their ballads. 2 Become 1 is the only ballad in their top 5 most streamed tracks.

Very true, all of those are the 'singles which got away' from each era and all of them would have done well, imo

Tell Me Why is amazing and the remixes were so good don't know why they didn't film a video and get over with it

Because they were managing themselves. It’s clear that they only planned to release one single and didn’t plan what to follow up next in advance. They only met up once after their Europe Music Awards in December and then they decided to end the promotion. Their fault was that they wanted to be solo artists more than a group by that point.

Yep, the solos killed the group <_< I often resent the solo projects for this specific reason

I was listening to Pain Proof the other day. That song has a meta narrative which is now very common with the current big pop girls like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo.

Added the song What A Feeling which was apparently rehearsed by them during the Touch era, alongside the Take Me Away, We're Gonna Make It Happen, etc. No mention if this is a cover at all.

Also, according to one of the writers of the songs on Spice Circle, the writers own the publishing and the rights, so technically if they wanted they could release these songs without the girls consent. But he also mentioned that the songs admittedly weren't the best, as they were created, written and recorded in two days upon a request from Bob Herbert (their original management) so the girls could rehearse with something.

I love pain proof so much

I imagined Too Hot would be something like this AI version (which is so good) -

Do you guys know the two songs that were registered recently? Some reason I cant find them? They were registered in the last couple of weeks, and I blieve they were co-written with Cathy Denis?

I stumbled upon 3 articles which interviewed Icelandic singer and songwriter Heiðrún Anna. She is one of the songwriters of Angels, a unreleased song from the greatest hits album. She reveals some juicy details about the track.

Heiðrún was under contract with Universal Publishing as a songwriter for many years and worked with many well-known artists. For example, Angels was chosen by the Spice Girls and was supposed to be their comeback song. The Spice Girls recorded the song and the album was expected to sell around 5 million copies.

Unfortunately, the Spice Girls cancelled at the last minute and the song was not released. "It was a huge disappointment when the song was removed from the album at the last minute. I cried for a whole weekend," Heiðrún Anna says in an interview with Viljinn.

"When I think back and listen to the Spice Girls recording of the song, I remember that I didn't think it was nearly as cool as my original. One of the main bites had been taken out that I was actually asked to sort out at the last minute," she adds.

"I played my song Angels for Simon at this meeting and he was adamant that this should be the Spice Girls' comeback song," says Heiðrún Anna. "I was just dancing on my way to the bank because he was adamant that it would be a global hit and would sell 5 million copies, and then it just didn't happen - as is often the case in this business."

"The meeting actually took a complete u-turn when I played him a song that he thought was quite major and sounded like a possible hit. He got the song and everything started, first he was going to use it for Idol star Jordan Sparks, but then the idea became to use the song on the Spice Girls' comeback album."

"Subsequently, I was contacted from Los Angeles, where the Spice Girls were filming, and I was asked to adjust the rhythm of the song. But at the last minute, their old producers came along, with another song in their bag, and mine was pushed out.

There were only supposed to be two new songs on the album and mine would have been one of them." Heiðrún Anna admits that it was incredibly frustrating to miss out on this opportunity and was very disappointed for a long time afterwards.

"Three months ago, Simon Fuller called me again and asked if the song was still available. I said yes and now he has it at his disposal for six months. We'll see what comes out of it," she says stoically.

I used Google translate to read the articles. Here are the links to check them out for yourself.

Oh wow thank you for this. So we do have a confirmation of the existance of Angels and that they did indeed record it.

But it is odd since it would be the first Spice Girls single that was not conceived by them originally... it obviously would have been very strange for that to be part of the album, since all other songs were Spice-originals...

Also, f*** Simon. He was clearly 'shopping for songs' for them, which was a total change from their original approach to music making...

Having said that, I would like to hear it!!

Thank you for posting, I don't remember seeing that before!

That would definitely have been an interesting/new approach for them at that time, to have songs offered to them rather than written from scratch (apart from Touch era, but that was pre-fame). I would love to hear it - would it have been any better than Headlines or Voodoo!

I suppose in a way it was nice that the Greatest Hits was kept to Spice Girls written stuff with the original producers. Maybe that wasn't the ideal time to go with songs offered to them. A new studio album though, maybe...

When a fan interviewed Melanie C in 2017, she had no recollection of this song when it was mentioned to her!

Yeah I agree about the original-song + original team strategy even though the songs picked to be included in the GH are some of the most maligned of their career

Maybe Mel C just doesnt remember it by that name?... They probably recorded it and discarted it so didn't think more about it... I mean, even Geri couldnt remember Outer Space Girls or Christmas Wrapping ever existing, so who knows lol

I would LOVE to hear Angels though... An updated GH with some more rarities could include this and give Heiðrún Anna her dues! :teresa:

Well, maybe Simon already heard "Headlines" already and tried to persuade the girls to change the comeback single lol
