Added the Geri's new Older Now song to the list, to the Rosie Frost sections.

Stilll unsure about adding the demos I posted about in the post above, as have no info on them. Does anyone?

Hi! I'm the guy that found the title in Spice Circle lol. I think like what the guys said on Spice Circle, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun seems like merely a working title, we don't actually if this is a demo they recorded, or hell could even be just a demo lyrics only that left at the writing stage. Also ASCAP site sometimes does messes with titles at time (could be an error which they will remove from time to time), I think this is more suited to place at rumor at best.

About Geri's Passion demos, I known about this from Spiceverse site and it does happened as confirmed by the guys in Spice Circle. I also have a listen at the so call Ride It demo full version, if you listen carefully there's a loop /cut around 2:40. Also the fade at the beginning is edited in, the sound quality is too clear and doesn't match with the rest.

P/S: The "Never Give Up on the Good Times" extended version listed in the Remix Anthology thread is also fanmade, check out the comment section it is made by the uploader. Afaik there's no remixes of the song confirmed.

Hopefully these helps, if someone who is there at the time when it happened please butt in and input lol, I'm curious at the full story as well.

Thank you!

So the full Ride It demo never leaked? Only those clips?

Those damn YouTube pages LYING and posting fan-made mixes calling them 'demos' pisses me off so much, and should be removed from YouTube alltogether, urgh!

(I also admit I did not listen to the Ride it demo link, yikes! 🤭 )

Yep, the full demo is made from the clips, as far as I know no demo of Geri's released songs has been leaked in full, just these Passion clips published.

A lot of Spice fan-made edits out of love and desire to have more songs to listen (given how few their official releases is together!), it does confuses a lot of people lol.

Also have a listen to this (at 3:11): https://youtu.be/kdkT7vvBeFY?feature=shared, the songwriter does said they presented five tracks, but the girls only worked on two of them.

Given how often the girls would mis-remember or forgot the name of their songs, I really doubt about "If Ya Do" now lol. Maybe they meant "If You Wanna Have Some Fun" but mis-spoke? And we only found exactly two titles and it's variations from ASCAP/BMI, I think "If Ya Do" is just a rumor at this point.

About the 5 tracks they brought: I find it really curious about this, as the producers say they 'brought 5 tracks to record' but only 2 were finished.

We know that Mel C and Emma went to USA after Spiceworld tour in 1998 (was it November?...) to record some ideas with Jam & Lewis, so maybe those 5 tracks were initial ideas that they came up with during this time, but then when they got together with the whole group they decided to only do the 2 that were released?

That would make sense to an existance of a 'If Ya Do' and that 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (A Night To Remember) rumours/listings. Maybe these were just initial ideas/demos that the girls did back in 1998 by Emma and Mel with Jam and Lewis that then did not get to the next stage with the full group?

I really wish they would do more in-depth interviews about their music, damn! Specially the Forever era, there are soooo many gaps in knowlege about the 1998-2000 recordings... Forever25 would be the perfect time for this!!

That could be a possibility too! I would really love if they really release a Forever 25 include those demos, and maybe a booklet to explain each tracks, that would debunk so many rumors and mysteries. We did not have too much insight on their writing and recording process didn't we?

Super interested to see what they do with Forever25. It definitely has a LOT of potential!

When it comes to the writing and recording process, we know at least this:

1998 - 1999

  • They all went to Nashville to record with Matt & Biff in Summer 1998 during the American leg of the Spiceworld tour.

  • Emma and Mel C went to Miami or LA to do some sessions with Jam/Lewis and to Dublin for recordings with Biff & Matt in Autumn/winter 1998. Songs were worked on then but we don't know if they were even demo'ed.

  • The first big bulk of recording sessions with the full group, where we know that songs were recorded, happened in Summer/Autumn 1999 for what we then thought would be a Nov 1999 album. These sessions were with Biff + Matt, Elliott Kennedy, Jam/Lewis and Darkchild. A mix.

The writing for these could be asumed to follow the previous way they worked with producers: they came up with the songs together, as a unit.

The album was postponed, giving way to Mel C's solo album release. Maybe they were also not ready to release, for all we know, they/the lable could have been unsure about what the direction to take with the album.

2000

It is clear that by the beginning of the year they had decided to go full r'n'b-pop with the album and Darkchild took the helm. So they went back to the studio in Spring/Summer.

We know that Mel C didn't turn up to a lot (most of?...) the recordings and recorded her vocals separately. She also didn't write on Tell Me Why (thought she has mentioned that she loves the track!). Mel B also missed out on some sessions as she doesnt appear in some writing credits and also on the vocals for Wasting My Time.

I remember that Mel C and Mel B both said that the process of creating the songs was different. Mel B mentioned that they would give them beats to put lyrics too, and Mel C said they had less involvement with the creation of the production of the tracks than before, that they would tell Darkchild what they liked or didnt like based on what he would give them.

This suggests a very different approach to the 1996-1999 approach to their pop music, where the production and the beats of the songs often were created based on ideas and melodies the girls would create together with the producers. So more involvement. For the songs on Forever, it seems like they were given the music to write lyrics and put vocals to.

This is all - mostly - suppositions though, based on what they said. We don't know unless they really go through the process.

I would love love love them to do more interviews on these processes. Enough about 'people power' as the main focus of their campaigns. Tehy need to talk about their music more!

We will get nada lol 😂 one song release perhaps and that’s it!

I’m keeping my expectations low so I’m not disappointed in case you can’t tell 🤪

also fans are saying on SC that there was a rumoured track done early 1998 called Never Forget which is apparently an early demo for Goodbye done with Geri, Emma and 'another girl' around a piano.

I also just came across on Spicenews.com that there were the following reports (rumours):

1998: August: Spice Girls recorded a country/rock song in Nashville (probably lies lol) that was to be their next single

1998: October: All Saints + Spice Girls collaboration for a charity single, a cover of Ain't No Stopping Us Now

Take these two with an extremely large pinch of salt!

Could of other tid-bits:

Rodney Jerkins gave an interview in in late 1998 saying he had had dinner with two of the Spice Girls (probably Emma and Mel C as they were both the active ones during that time) in London and that he was going to London to in January/February 1999 to record some songs with them. You can find the newsreport on Spicenews Jan 1999 page.

I think this is the first time I hear about these recordings sessions....

Later in February 1999, Mel C states that the third Spice Girls album will be out in June 1999, saying they have already 'done most of the album'.... that's f***ing insane lol Maybe they did work on quite a few demos in the following sessions:

1998, August: Nashville with Biff/Rowe

1998, Oct-Nov: USA with Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis and Dublin with Biff/Rowe

1999, Jan-Feb: Rodney Jerkins

Gosh I really wish we knew more lol

To be honest, I honestly think the SECOND ALBUM session of VB on the main page needs sorting out properly but I am aghast at how different information is out there about it and I cant quite make much sense of it.

I do understand that even the songs out there might have been altered by fans before they leaked, as there were discussions on Denden (RIP!!) Forums that the CDs were to be leaked and VB's laywers got involved, so they changed some aspects of the songs before leaking as to avoid lawsuits.... lol

Help me please!!

Some more rumoured tracks just came to light (in this but I am choosing to ont really believe this LOL as it sounds too fan-made). I do remember the rumours about Virgin/EMI wanting to release a Greatest Hits called The Spiciest Hits for sure though, and Mel C stating back then that the record company was going to release it anyway even without the group's involvement.

I will be put all of these on the rumours lists lol

Anyway, the new songs info here is:

New song titles

"Don't Forget"

- early Demo of Goodbye including Geri. Apparently it is a piano-led version that is over 5:20 long. The poster goes to say that the producers at Virgin (lol) mastered it from the original with 'the girls voices filtered' but that just really sounds like made up crap lol and the lyrics sound even worse lol

"Make It This Way"

- from 1997/1998

- Apparently 20sec clips leaked in 2005 but this is the first Ive heard of this

"5 Chances"

- from 1997/1998

- Apparently 20sec clips leaked in 2005 but this is the first Ive heard of this

Other 'new' information from Virgin's Vaults

Never Give Up On The Good Times

- Never Give Up On The Good Times (Morales Classic Mix) to be included on the main CD; it was the version that was apparently going to be released with Viva Forever as a double A-side but Morales missed the original deadline

- Morales Club mix, Radio Mix and Classic Club Mix, Classic Radio Mix and Dubs exist

Viva Forever

- Morales Club mix, Radio Mix and Classic Club Mix, Classic Radio Mix and Dubs exist

2 Become 1

- Morales Classic Edit mix exists

Who Do You Think You Are

- Almighty 2006 Mix exists

Too Much

- Hani's Club Experience mix exists

W.O.M.A.N

- Morales Radio Edit exists

This is just "Bittersweet" tho isn't it? It was called Gone when it leaked because of the chorus I think.

Also the story is true, it tracks as I thought it's odd they have two versions of the same songs, and Full Stop is just 2 minutes long on that version (they cut out the rap!!!!!)

The rumoured titles from the 2000s is a tad less believable, but how exciting it is if there really is a Goodbye demo with Geri called Don't Forget. I wonder tho if this is made up by tabloid because of the Take That song Never Forget lol (it's also 5 minutes long lol).

Never Give Up on the Good Times remixes, I remember people were saying if it did exists it would have been released with Spiceworld 25, but we only get a montage video of it which is now removed lol. Another note, could this have been the said remix but reused?

The funny thing is that there are a few variations of rumours about a 'goodbye' type of song around...

There was a rumour about a song called 'Bye' that was to be 7mins long or something like this, and this as Don't Forget as well which is over 5mins long...

I think they might just be rumours that come from maybe insiders that heard different demos of what would eventually become Goodbye and ran with these stories lol The Don't Forget situation is suspicious but I think the title goes well with the Dunblane massacre-narrative that they were working on first.

Not sure about that Morales mix, but I would love to know if it exists at all!

Honestly the whole thing is so confusing, with so many fan-made variations out there, that I struggle to even have the energy to try and sort out that section on the first page of this thread lol

Any help would that would be really appreciated
