Snowman

Shame it's a bit late for it to be a proper hit.

But I think it's doing well enough for people to want to play it again next year, so maybe it can become a slow-burning low-key Christmas classic, or at least make an annual resurgence :)

isn't Snowman climbing cos it's a TikTok?

wow Ed already in straight at #39

Ed's new song isn't as commercial as his usual output, I'm expecting a reasonable debut but wouldn't be surprised if it tailed off quite quickly. A bit like when Drake released some of his less commercial music.

He would have debuted lower, it's taken longer than usual for him to show up though, which is a glitch with brand new songs on Apple a music sometimes.

little over 5 hours to get to 39th. I wonder what I don't care did in 5 hours. It is pointless to compare it to shape of you because that was his peak and also had much more promotion being a lead single. Also we have take into account that its Christmas in 4 days and it was released randomly on a Monday at 11am

It is random but I’m still looking forward to tomorrow’s figures!
Snowman is indeed being streamed this much thanks to TikTok so I'm also wondering how it will perform after December 25th

I imagine it’ll fall like the other Xmas songs Tik tok or not

Ed is 17 on Apple Music now.
Ed's song is quite bearable, not a big sounding hit but...
Ed up to #15 on Apple and already the second highest non Christmas song ('positions' is #10).
Ed #4 on Apple, not the showing I was expecting
He's been swallowed a bit by the Christmas releases, probably moreso than he expected - the label wanted a last minute Christmas #1 apparently. I'm sure he'll jump straight in at #1 the week after though - it would have made more sense to release on Christmas day - it could have still been called a Christmas present and he wouldn't have all the Christmas and charity song competition.

If the label wanted the Xmas #1, surely they would've released on Friday?

I'm not saying the don't want it, but it's hardly a race.

agree, released on Friday would have made more sense.

wasn't expecting it to be behind Shakin Stevens :D

Most people don’t even know ed released. He didn’t promote it on socials like a comeback single but it does have good playlisting on Spotify.
Knowing how much Ed cares about chart facts and figures he definitely released to try and get the Xmas #1. Better luck next time, ginge.

I literally knew about this release beforehand because his label wanted a last minute Christmas #1. But they underestimated how busy things are at the moment. Because his singles usually open with such massive numbers I think they expected bigger numbers first week.

Not that it matters, I assume he'd rise to #1 the week after unless the song really does fail to connect the way he usually does.
