I wasn't hopefull of anything exciting for Goodbye as they have no album to push from it like they did the Spiceworld singles and Spiceworld25.

I had hoped the might use it as a chance to push Christmas Wrapping though.

I didnt expect much at all, but a Lyric video with the theme of the frozen house from the video would have been cute. That's all I expected to be honest...

We got a 30sec video of a mimed performance from Top of the Tops 1998 in a tweet instead..

I think the only hope for Goodbye is 2025. If they do Forever 25 then Goodbye can be used as a promo tool for it in December, especially if they use Holler/LLLTW to promote its release.

Girls Aloud have a handful of songs with vocals from less than five members (some even with just one member!) and they're credited as Girls Aloud. So it doesn't matter that it's only two of the Spice Girls on Christmas Wrapping, it's still considered part of the group catalogue!

Exactly. Often in groups this happens, even in boybands and it is more about the song itself than the group. Anyway, it is very much a Spice song and the record label should do a lyric video for it at least! It doesnt even need to mention that it is only Emma and Mel C

Who gets the royalties for it - all Spices, or just those two?

And I guess - a lot (99%) of PCD songs are sang by one person!

I believe that up until Geri left, they used to split everything equally but after that, they started to get individually paid according to their input on any given song/album as most artists do. I remember reading somewhere that this was due to if they were still credited as 'Spice Girls' in the writing credits (as they were in the original albums), rather than individually, Geri would still get royalties for sales of songs/albums she wasnt a part of, hence the individual accreditation after she left.

When it comes to singer-royalties, that's a different thing as the publishing works differently there. So I would imagine that the group gets royalties from that song and then gets distributed equality between all. They don't have writing credits on that song though, so they wont get any from it.

All in all, they are probably each seeing like £100 per year each from the song's streams across streaming platforms, radio play and the odd sale here and there. If they were credited as writers too, Emma and Mel C would be getting a bit more.

Not to mention Feed Your Love, which is basically a Mel B solo song.

I wonder who wrote the alternative lyrics in Christmas Wrapping? Because it only credits the original writer of the song, Chris Butler. The updated lyrics are so specific to the Spice Girls and the UK that surely they came from any or all of the following: Emma, Melanie C, Matt & Biff. Maybe they thought it would be too cheeky to get writers credits on a cover version, even though they made changes?

Yeah it is quite odd isn't it? I would imagine they did all a bit, but then for credits clearance, they didnt bother much with adding their own credits. It was, at the time, only a b-side that probably would be forgotten forever more after its inclusion in one CD of Goodbye. Had they imagined it would take off on streaming (the concept of it didnt even exist at the time lol) they definitely would have added it lol

It is probably why none of them even bother to mention it. They get no money from it's success lol

Of course they get money from it, otherwise singers wouldn't record cover versions.

That statement was an exageration, of course they do get it - as explained in the posts before that. But as singers they get quite little in terms of royalties - it is in the writing that you get the most royalties, and they are not credited as writers.

It also just goes to show that they should have done an original Christmas song and a covet of I Wish It Could Be Christmas!!!

I am pretending I can't see it :teresa:

Ridiculously overpriced it's just insulting to the fans tbh.

I'd actually love a jumper, I already love a Xmas jumper as it is, but it's just outrageous especially when you can buy jumpers of similar quality in Primark for a tenner! Also really do like the baubles but I refuse to pay that price.

They have truly lost me as a purchaser now.

Me too :( It's way too overpriced and it's evident that the quality will not match such prices.

Before I saw the prices I thought the baubles were cute for the novelty of it, but my absolute maximum that I'd consider paying for them is £20 (and even that I would consider to be very pricey for 5 baubles). £50 is just insane.
