Isn't Katherine Jenkins bigger than spice soloists there and more well-regarded?

 

It's not that I think Melanie C is too big for it, she did a DJ gig at a student union bar. I just don't think it will do anything for her career.

Lee Ryan and Sophie Ellis Bextor are ICONS of LGBTQ+ communities and culture for different reasons (music and sex), so sit down :teresa:

Also Sophie Ellis Bextor is on a higher level of success than Melanie music wise I’d say.

I so guessed Sophie because of the twang in her voice. Im sad she went first !!!

 

We have to remember that this was filmed during first lockdown so maybe the names wont be as big as first thought ? We shall have to wait and see!!

They must have told Sophie the aim of the game was being unrecognisable as opposed to sing well cause she did a perforce putting on a completely different voice and singing a lot below her standards (it was pretty bad vocally).

 

As for Mel being a contestant, they only introduced 6 yesterday, and she wasn't one.

So. I know everything we're saying in here is total speculation...but...I actually would rather like it if she'd do The Masked Singer in the US.

 

I realize she's pretty unlikely to travel over here during COVID. But. In the event life somewhat returns to normal in the next year, I'd love it if she did it.

 

The show's a huge hit here. Massive audience. And honestly, I think Mel C easily has the smallest profile of the five girls in the US. In the Spices' big US heyday of 1997/1998, I always felt their fame was very much as a group...and a lot less so as individual members. I actually think Victoria and Mel B became better known as individuals here starting with their 2007 projects...than they were in the 90s. Emma's done a few things on US TV. I guess Geri has some residual fame from being the one who left. Mel C's done comparatively little to be known individually in the US.

 

Granted, there are some drawbacks. I'm sure some contestants are having to swallow their pride. Living legend Patti LaBelle only came in 8th in her season...with the people beating her including a basketball player. I also cringe at the memory of the judge panel speculating that an alien definitely wasn't a singer...and then it turned out to be LaToya Jackson. But if Mel can really go in there and crush it, would be nice to see her trending here for a bit.

 

I think MelB is on The Masked Singer, maybe is she the Seahorse?

I hear her singing Kylie's Can't Get You Out Of My Head, and I think is Mel.
