Beautiful Intentions was released 17 years ago this week. How time flies! :o

I actually really like this album. The production values are a bit meh apart from on a couple of tracks, but overall it has some stunning tracks!

Beautiful Intentions, Don't Need This, You'll Get Yours are some of her best still to this day. A shame cos I think the singles weren't that great to be honest...

Music wise the album aged badly probably because the production was a bit poor imo.

I still likes a few songs.

I was 17 when it came out and now 17 years have passed :cheeseblock:
We should do a new ranking of this album!!!

Youll Get Yours still remains her best ever song ❤️

I havent played this album for awhile!

Little Piece Of Me should have been a single.

Same here it's barmy isn't it!

You two are old ha!

I’d LOVE this to get a vinyl release! The artwork would look amazing!

^ what a time for Melanie !!!

It really was a high moment for her with that single taking off:

* #1 in Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal

* Became the most downloaded song of all time in Germany with sales of over 400,000

* Nominated for an Echo Music Pride (the German Brits / Grammys)

* Certifies Gold in Austria, Siwitzerland and Platinum in Germany and Portugal

* Stayed on Austrian top 100 charts for nearly a year

* Beautiful Intentions is propelled to Gold status in Germany for sales over a quarter of a million

* Beautiful Intentions certified Gold in Austria, Switzerland and Platinum in Portugal

* Beautiful Intentions outsells Reason's sales of half a million

* Beautiful Intentions goes to #1 in Portugal and stays there for 9 weeks even keeping Madonna off the top spot

I just wish it had been a song that Melanie herself wrote since she would have reaped far more benefits financially rather than for Enrique, that song must have made a fair whack. Also it's a shame that the UK success was poor at the time would have been interesting to see how the song would have fared had they released it over here, apparently radio basically said that they wouldn't play it so they didn't bother.

Im still irritated that they followed this huge success with Better Alone 😬😬

In hindsight, it was a mistake. It was a tricky situation though. She had no other pop song on Beautiful Intentions to follow it up with.

Oh me too, what a bad choice!

I imagine they all thought another ballad was the best way to go forwards and this is certainly supported by the fact that they then released The moment you believe as the lead single from This Time. I do wonder what fans who bought Beautiful Intentions off the back of FDOML thought since it really is nothing like that song, I also wonder if it put off fans who expected it to be a ballads album from buying This Time (which ironically better suits FDOML).

I wish she had released Last night on earth or You will see something completely different to FDOML, but then I wish she led the TT campaign with Carolyna or Understand

Little Piece Of Me would have been my choice. A catchy pop rock song !!

Happy 18th anniversary to Beautiful Intentions! This is the album that made me a big Melanie fan.

My favourite song on the album has to be You Will See. And it's even better in its (fanmade) remix form. :magic:

'Better Alone' is great :(

Although maybe it came across like whinging about being dropped, which maybe wasn't the best look. I don't think anything else would've done anything for her either though.
