Coming in at #5 on my Albums of the Year is none other than AG6 also known as positions released by Ariana Grande. Her third album in two years has really grown on me after originally being very underwhelmed. It takes it's spot at #5, not her best album by a long shot but plenty of bops and growers. The album managed two songs in the top 10 on my chart. Very much looking forward to what comes next, will we get ANOTHER in 2021?!

Highest Song In My Top 40: 01 cardigan

Taylor Swift dropped her folklore album in the Summer this year, and whilst it wasn't Summery sounding at all, it was absolutely STUNNING! Taylor has really found herself this year with her two folk albums and she's matured so much. Her vocals on this and evermore are beautiful. I was hooked from the first listen and pleasantly surprised by it! It also managed five songs on in the top ten on my chart too making it the most successful from the countdown so far. My favourite track on this album is epiphany, a beautiful written song that really reflects this year in the second verse where she sings about seeing loved ones through plastic. Heartbreaking but breathtaking at the same time. I'm really impressed with Taylor this year and can't wait for whatever comes next, because who knows what route she's going? Heavy Metal next?

Highest Song In My Top 40: 01 Rain On Me

Favourite Track: 911

Well, some may think this is a surprise at #3! When Chromatica was released, I was absolutely loving it and I still am! It just seems two other albums this year rank a tad higher than Lady Gaga's latest efforts. That doesn't take away how AMAZING this album is and just what we needed during the first lockdown. I was hoping Gaga would go back down the pop route and boy did she deliver! I just wish more efforts were made after Rain On Me to push the album and third single. Five songs charted in my top ten here equalling it with folklore. I adore pretty much every song here, but 911 has stuck with me since day one and has only just left my chart after over 6 months in the top 10 after stalling at #2 when Rain On Me was dominating! Such a bop, I still can't get over the infectious chorus!

Bravo Gaga, a really pleasant surprise this year, I can only hope we get more like this next time!

Hi Adam! Unfortunately I've literally listened to about three albums in total, but what I've heard from folklore is definitely much more to my taste than anything Taylor has released before - exile in particular is fantastic. Giving epiphany a listen now since you've linked it, also sounding quite nice.

Hey Pete! Yeah folklore is fantastic! I like Taylor's pop side a bit more but I was stunned by folklore! Let me know what you think of epiphany, it's gorgeous!

02. Little Mix - Confetti

Release Date: November 6, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 02
Highest Song In My Top 40: 01 Sweet Melody
Songs Charted In Adam's Top 40: Break Up Song, Holiday, Not A Pop Song, Happiness, Sweet Melody, Confetti, Nothing But My Feelings, Gloves Up, A Mess (Happy 4 U), Rendezvous, If You Want My Love, Breathe
Favourite Track: Sweet Melody

Where do we start with Little Mix?! What an AMAZING album this is! All bar one song from this album entered my top 40, with a massive NINE of the tracks getting a top ten peak! Little Mix have always been a massive influence on my musical taste so it comes as no surprise to see them doing so well in my chart! My favourite track of course is Sweet Melody which is currently number one in my personal chart at the time of typing (and has been there for 8 weeks), but Confetti comes as a close second as that is fab too! The entire album is so strong and I still listen to it in full, the last four tracks on the album I probably skip more than I listen though. This is the last album with Jesy Nelson and I'm so glad she left with such a strong album! I wish her all the best and hope the girls can continue to be successful as a three piece.

So, which album makes my number one?! Some of you that read my personal chart may have a good guess by now! :D

01. Ava Max - Heaven & Hell

Release Date: September 18, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 02
Highest Song In My Top 40: 01 Who's Laughing Now, OMG What's Happening, Born to the Night, Belladonna
Songs Charted In Adam's Top 40: Sweet but Psycho, So Am I, Torn, Salt, Kings & Queens, Who's Laughing Now, OMG What's Happening, Naked, Tattoo, Call Me Tonight, Born to the Night, Take You To Hell, Belladonna, Rumors, My Head & My Heart
Favourite Track: Belladonna

Ava Max, Ava Max, AVA MAX. Well where do we start? Look at the stats above! FOUR number ones from this album, and every single track charted in my top 40. This album actually posted eight songs in the top five, a masterpiece. Heaven & Hell was released during my birthday week and what a present it was from Miss Max! I can't skip any track, legit. It is bubblegum pop perfection. In May I was sure that nothing would beat Lady Gaga to my album of the year... but Ava releasing her very long-awaited album changed everything! It's hard to pick a favourite track, because as you can see it managed four number ones from this album. But if I have to choose, it would be the spectacularly dark-themed Belladonna! Perfect for Halloween! And those whistle notes!! Move aside, Ariana! I can't wait to see what Ava does next, she has never released a bad song for me yet, so it's going to be reaaaaaally hard to top her debut album!

----------------------------

So there we have it! My top five albums of 2020:
1. Ava Max - Heaven & Hell
2. Little Mix - Confetti
3. Lady Gaga - Chromatica
4. Taylor Swift - folklore
5. Ariana Grande - positions

It's time to move on to my full End of Year chart, starting tomorrow!

50. Katy Perry - Daisies

Release Date: May 15, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 37
Adam's Chart Run: (9 weeks) | Peak: 13 | 27-20-21-13-16-21-27-34-32-x

Opening up my top 50 and just scraping into my EOY chart is Katy Perry's lead single from Smile. Daisies is a pretty song but it didn't do a lot for me, and really flopped for her in the official chart. It's a shame to see how much Katy's popularity has decreased but overall I'm not surprised, her efforts since Prism have been way below par. She has managed to enter on this chart though, and I did enjoy Daisies when it came out but it wasn't really a song I was itching to replay.

Adam's Chart Run: (10 weeks) | Peak: 03 | 41-41-x-35-14-7-3-10-18-27-32-x

Coming in at #49 is another lead single. This time from Miley Cyrus with her smash hit Midnight Sky. This song spent AGES in the official top ten and it's so good to see her have a home grown hit again! She has really come into her own with her Plastic Hearts era and definitely the route I hope she has found music wise. Originally, I didn't think much of Midnight Sky as you can see, it dropped out after two weeks for me. But then it just clicked and managed a top 3 placing in my chart. It's probably not something I will end up going back to in a year or so but I really enjoyed this Miley track, my favourite since Wrecking Ball.

Adam's Chart Run: (9 weeks) | Peak: 15 | 23-24-16-15-22-18-27-37-40-x

Ashley Tisdale releasing a cute summery bop was something I never expected to hear in 2020! I came across this song just by scrolling through New Music Friday when it was released. It was accompanied by warm weather at the time during lockdown when most of us were in our back gardens and it sounded so refreshing at the time! Famously known as Sharpay from High School Musical, Ashley's voice remains instantly recognisable on this track. I doubt I'll ever really listen to it again as it's now off my playlist, but I loved it at the time. Check it out if you haven't heard it before! :D

Adam's Chart Run: (11 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 25-11-9-2-4-14-11-25-36-31-48-x

Now, I've never really been into Sam Smith's music, as it isn't usually to my taste. However when they released Diamonds, it was a major improvement on anything I've heard! In fact their newer songs have been decent to be honest! This song just missed the #1 and spent ten weeks in my top 40. It's still in my playlist now and I still enjoy it when it comes on... hopefully Sam will release more bops like this as it's by far the best thing they've done. :)

46. Ariana Grande - Stuck With U (with Justin Bieber)

Release Date: May 8, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 04
Adam's Chart Run: (8 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 2-5-8-11-20-24-28-43-x

Scooter Braun managed artists Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber released this lockdown ballad earlier this year. Both artists sound absolutely stunning on this track . It didn't stick around for too long on my chart after entering straight at #2, but it's still cute. It really aged for me though and isn't a song I'll be returning to very often. Oddly, being an Ariana fan, I actually prefer Justin's vocal on this compared to Ari's.

45. Ava Max - Who's Laughing Now

Release Date: July 30, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 93
Adam's Chart Run: (17 weeks) | Peak: 01 | 13-2-3-1-3-5-11-17-14-15-8-11-11-17-15-15-48-x

At #45 we see the first track that peaked at number one from Ava Max. Who's Laughing Now was pushed as the second official single from her debut album Heaven & Hell. It didn't manage to take off though unfortunately and only reached #93 in the official chart. However, in a different reality, it was quite the smash hit for me! We see the first entry from Ava here and I am expected a fair few more to come! I adore this song, it's another powerful self-confidence song from the American star and I wish it had taken off in the UK! Ava seems to be very hit and miss with her singles in terms of success which is a shame. This song was pretty much the soundtrack to August for me and I loooooooove the music video . A great choice for a single and the guitar riffs are STUNNING

44. Demi Lovato - In The Mirror

Release Date: June 26, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (9 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 19-4-2-2-7-13-16-43-x-50-x

At #44 we see a song from the movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga. Yep, what a long title! Demi Lovato makes a cameo appearance in this movie as one of the 'contestants' where she performs this absolutely STUNNING song! Honestly, it's one of the best songs from a movie soundtrack I've ever heard. Her vocals are amazing and whilst it is from a movie, the song still has the Demi touch. It managed to get a peak at #2 in my top 40 for two weeks, but it did take quite the tumble soon after.
If you've never heard it, take a listen

Another entry from Ariana Grande here with her second single from Positions! 34+35 is a risque track along the same lines as Cardi B's WAP, however I find this song much more bareable and it's actually my favourite track from the album! A whole bop. It's cheeky, it's catchy and it's easily replayable! I'm somewhat surprised it's in my EOY chart already but then again I have been spamming it lately  Ariana rarely disappoints. :D

Release Date: November 24, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (5 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 6-2-3-2-6*

*Still Charting

Frock Destroyers walk and they all bow down! One of the most recent songs in the EOY chart. Founded on Season 1 of Ru Paul's Drag Race UK, the Frock Destroyers have become such a guilty pleasure of mine! A three piece drag queen trio featuring Baga Chipz, Davina D'Campo and Blu Hydrangea; they serve CAMP! The name of the group is a play-on words and comes from a certain duo that made fame calling themselves destroyers with something else that rhymes with frock.
Her Majesty is an absolute BANGER of a song and needs some more recognition! With this track, the girls won't settle for any less than to be treated like the queens they are! They've actually released an album aswell . Some might call them marmite, but I'm firmly on the LOVE with these queens. :yahoo:

41. Christina Modestou - Don't Lose Ur Head (from Six the Musical)

Adam's Chart Run: (9 weeks) | Peak: 26 | 26-34-39-40-39-35-47-46-x-48-x

I was wondering how long it would take for a Six track to appear! Don't Lose Ur Head comes from the ever-growingly popular Six the Musical. It is the track of 'Anne Boleyn' and is probably the most famous song from the musical due to the popularity it gained on TikTok earlier this year. I have adored Six ever since I first saw it in 2019 and it has become my absolute favourite show. I cannot recommend it enough, if you ever get the chance to book tickets - GO! It is just AMAZING. Don't Lose Ur Head is such a catchy bop, it's infectious chorus will have you singing along by the second chorus! I am expected a few more Six tracks to appear in my EOY chart.
