When I first heard of Lady Gaga collaborating with Elton John, I was expecting a piano ballad like the rest of the Little Monsters. Never did I expect to be hearing a dance track! Sine From Above is an absolute masterpiece (we will excuse the weird ending here), with a euphoric drop! Elton sounds great on it too and I'd actually like to hear more of him doing this kinda stuff. Doubtful I know :lol:. I like the message behind the track and lyrically it's brilliant. I keep hearing it on the TV during adverts and was hoping it might have taken off in the chart but it hasn't managed to chart unfortunately. A #7 peak in my chart seems a bit injustice because it was one of my favourite Chromatica tracks at one point! :heart:

Ahhhh, so the world of TikTok has reached my EOY chart... :rolleyes: I've gotta say I haven't returned to this song once since I took it off my playlist as it got very stale for me very quick. It's an ok song but it's nothing special and really shouldn't be in my EOY chat, but clearly earlier in the year I was playing this just that bit more :lol: I'm struggling to find the positives here as you can tell :lol: TikTok has given us some proper bops though this year... others not so much. :unsure:

What a year 2020 has been for Harry Styles. He's had so many hits and it's thoroughly deserved IMO. Considering I heard Watermelon Sugar pretty much everywhere (and still do) this year, I'm surprised it only peaked at #4 and wasn't a chart topper tbh. It managed three weeks peaking at 6 for me... call that what you want :lol: :kink: I really enjoyed this song over the Summer and it deserves to be in my EOY chart. :heart:

If I'd have been charting back in 2018, this would have been a MASSIVE #1. As previously stated, Six the Musical is my absolute favourite West End show and I cannot recommend it enough. Ex-Wives is the first song in the show and introduces you to the queens. Nothing beats that feeling when the opening 'DIVORCED' is spoken, I get goosebumps every time. I've seen the show five times in the last year and every single time it feels brand new. As you can see, it's just re-entered my top 40 after seeing it in November (I feel so lucky I managed to see it during the pandemic before it closed again :(), I've been listening to the soundtrack and falling in love all over again. :wub:

This is another gem I found through looking through New Music Friday on Spotify. I was familiar with Alan Walker but never heard of the other two artists on this track. This song is SO GOOD and it's another that's slipped by un-noticed by many people. End of Time has one of the best beat drops I've heard and I still listen to this song often. A great find. :wub:

Using a sample from Roger Sanchez' Another Chance, Ella Henderson released this banger in October. Sadly it didn't take off in the charts but I really enjoyed the song. It's quite generic (and her vocals can be quite grating when she does that weird high pitch thing on the end of some notes she sings), but it's enjoyable to listen to all the same. Ella is a very underrated artist and she has another entry still to come. :)

When we look back on 2020, we will remember the time in lockdown when everyone was doing that weird arm dance on TikTok... well, in true Jason Derulo style, he hopped on the trend and turned it into a hit single. I've gotta say I don't really approve of it being so high in my EOY chart to be honest. It is utter trash, but clearly at some point this year I did like it... not much more I can say. It's been out of my playlist almost as soon as it dropped off my chart. :nocheer:

Breaking Me was such a highlight to my chart this year! I'd go so far as to say it's one of the best songs of the year. It lands at#18 on my EOY though, probably due to the lack of weeks in the top ten. It did stick around for a while though. I think both of these artists are quite new(?), so they definitely came out with a BANGER. :dance:

We see another TikTok phenomenon here with you broke me first! Originally I loved this song, and it managed two weeks at #1 for me... but it grated on me as time went by and outstayed it's welcome in my chart. I'm not really interested in looking into any more of Tate's work either :unsure:

Now, when Chromatica came out, I actually rated Replay as one of the worst tracks on the album... boy did my opinion change! This now sits firmly in my top 3 Chromatica tracks! The peak-OUT was a shock though, my chart must have had a reset :lol:. I love the lyrical content over the intense beats. Gaga sounds great vocally on this too. :wub:

Expected more Little Mix songs if I'm honest, but we're only at the second entry now! Break Up Song was the first song from the Confetti era, and it is widely approved off by many on Buzzjack. For me though, I never got into the hype really. I mean I like it, of course. But something didn't wow me about BUS. Still tho, #15 on my EOY isn't a bad result, I'm sure there are a couple more LM songs to come :D

Head & Heart is by far my favourite #1 from this year, such a nice dance piece and MNEK's vocals are fab. Death Bed and Breaking Me are both great as well, two of the rare charting songs to make my Personal Top 40.

 

Giving Far Away From Home a listen now, I've warmed to VIZE over the past few months and Sam Feldt can produce a great track on a good day. This is sounding pretty nice anyway, particularly like the build-up and drop!

At #14 we have probably the most less-known tracks in my EOY chart! Push It Right samples Push It! and let me tell you, MOTi has done a great job on this mix. A complete bop and fully deserved to peak at #1 for me. Just makes me wanna go out (as if that's gonna happen any time soon :rolleyes:). Some of you will remember that dramatic X Factor elimination with Laura White back in 2008, it's great to see she's stuck at the music route. She sounds great here, even if her vocals are a tad distorted. Check this out guys, a PROPA BANGA. :music:

Another entry from Six the Musical here with the finale song Six. This song is fantastic. It showcases unity as well as confidence in oneself. This is the part where the queens come together to reform their history. Or as they like to call it, 'her-story'. It's been in and out of my chart 3 times as I still enjoy it a lot, I'd expect more re-entries down the line from this track. #21 seems an awfully low peak for #13 on my EOY chart, but it stuck around that mark for ages and fully deserves it's position in my EOY top 20. :heart:

2020 and Carly Rae Jepsen still releasing music never would have crossed my mind back in 2012. I was sure she would have been a one hit wonder with Call Me Maybe... she's had a couple of hits since but nothing much else... well in the UK at least. However, this was one of the first songs to appear when I started charting and it became quite the hit for me. It's typical Carly lyrics but it has a wonderful chorus and a great drop. A song I wish a lot more people heard. :wub:

Just missing out on the top 10 in my first EOY chart is the first track of Lady Gaga's album Chromatica, Alice. This song is a MASTERPIECE. I love anything Alice in Wonderland themed, so it was always going to hit strong with me. Twice it peaked at #4 and it did stick around for a little while after, re-entering twice. To any Gaga fan, hearing Chromatica I into Alice for the first time was just insane. Not knowing which way the album was going, you're hit straight away with a club BANGER. She really outdid herself with this album, and she still has two entries to come. :cheeseblock:

Thats #50-11 done! I'll be back tomorrow counting down my top 10 songs of 2020 and finding out who has taken the first #1!
