10. Ella Henderson - Take Care Of You

Release Date: June 12, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 50
Adam's Chart Run: (10 weeks) | Peak: 01 | 21-7-1-1-4-9-8-10-24-42-x

Kicking off the top ten at #10 is Ella Henderson's lockdown release, Take Care Of You. I first heard of this by having an Instagram notification that Ella had gone live, I clicked on it and she was talking about her new song dropping at midnight (it was around 11:55pm), so this made me check it out. It's a brilliant track and once again very underrated. It did manage to chart but only hit #50 in the end. Two weeks at #1 for me though and a good run in the top ten before a swift exit. Ella has done much better this year after some awful releases in 2019. Bravo Ella

09. Little Mix - Holiday

Release Date: July 24, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 15
Adam's Chart Run: (15 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 24-4-3-2-3-2-2-8-16-24-24-23-16-34-32-x

At #9 we have another Little Mix single! They really have smashed it this year! It's one of their lowest peaking singles in the charts but I fully appreciate the song being released in July, it made perfect sense. It seems to be quite divided opinions amongst fans on Buzzjack but I loved it and still do. Was it the right choice for second single? Probably not but I appreciate what it did. It managed to peak three times at #2 for me and stuck around for 15 weeks in my chart. Quite the longevity. I remember it having quite a bit of longevity in the official charts too. :cheer:
One more entry from Little Mix to come...

08. Ava Max - Kings & Queens

Adam's Chart Run: (27 weeks) | Peak: 03 | 24-7-3-6-8-14-25-22-20-23-23-28-23-13-6-7-12-24-43-38-28-28-32-30-33-48-x-50*

#8 sees the final entry from Ava Max here. She has really smashed it for me this year, becoming one of my absolute favourite artists! As you can see, it has been a major highlight for me this year and I can't believe it didn't manage to hit #1. Unfortunately this was due to charting it at the same time as Rain On Me with the former having a long run at #1. Still, 27 weeks in my chart and still charting now is HUGE and Kings & Queens is a brilliant song. I'm glad it was a semi-hit for her because she really does deserve so much success. Well done on a fantastic 2020, Ava.

07. Will Ferrell & My Marianne - Husavik (My Hometown)

Release Date: June 26, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 59
Adam's Chart Run: (19 weeks) | Peak: 01 | 17-3-1-1-9-31-27-19-19-20-15-23-31-26-39-33-39-37-42-x

We are truly into my songs of the year now! Husavik is a song from the Netflix movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga (yep, full title). Featuring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams (Regina :D), it's a comedic parody of a couple's dream to win Eurovision. Whilst it is a parody film, it has a good plot and the soundtrack is GREAT. My Marianne (who voices the songs for Rachel's character) has a gorgeous voice that is so beautifully song on this song. This is definitely a Never Enough moment and deserves to be loved. It managed two weeks at #1 for me and was a huge part of my year making me cry on several occasions. Check it out if you haven't already.

06. Rita Ora - How To Be Lonely

Release Date: March 13, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 57
Adam's Chart Run: (16 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 6-6-4-3-2-6-13-13-21-33-15-12-11-12-13-26-x

Just the one song release by Rita Ora this year with the Lewis Capaldi-penned track How To Be Lonely. This isn't one of Rita's best songs by far and you can definitely hear the Lewis influence but I really love this song still! It majorly flopped for her though :o oops.
It's another track that probably would have been #1 if it wasn't for Ari/Gaga dominating earlier this year. I don't return to it as often anymore but it's still a nice track. Hopefully in 2021 we will get some more material from Rita Ora, she is still capable of hits I'm sure.

05. Becky Hill - Space

I've said it before, and I'll say it again for those at the back - BECKY HILL IS SO UNDERRATED!
Becky Hill is a fantastic vocalist and Space really should have been a massive hit for her. It's the best song she's ever released or been involved in and it breaks my heart to see how underappreciated it is. As you can see, it hasn't left my top ten since it entered it 11 weeks ago and I don't see it leaving just yet either. Two weeks at #1 and 11 weeks in the top ten is the type of smash it DESERVED in real life. I've just watched her perform this on TOTP and as usual, it was brilliant.

04. Taylor Swift - cardigan

Release Date: July 24, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 06
Adam's Chart Run: (16 weeks) | Peak: 01 | 4-1-1-1-2-1-6-13-14-16-21-24-19-20-27-34-x

Taylor Swift really came THROUGH this year. :D Dropping two surprise folk albums is something I don't think anybody was expecting. cardigan is absolutely beautiful.. Taylor has always been a fantastic songwriter and cardigan is among her very best. The lyric "Peter losing Wendy" gets me every time. The song spent 4 weeks at #1 on my chart and really was one of my songs of 2020. Taylor has matured so much this year and I'm so excited to see what comes in 2021 :cheer:

03. Little Mix - Sweet Melody

I mean that chart run speaks for itself doesn't it? Little Mix have stormed it this year and two songs in my EOY top ten is a great reflection of that. Sweet Melody is my personal song of the year and my favourite song they've ever released. I'm so glad Jesy is bowing out on such a SMASH. The song is still charting in the official charts and hasn't gone to ACR yet so I really hope it can repeak this week! It's only been out since the end of October and it is still sounding so fresh and is two months in at #1 for me. I can see it reaching at least 10 weeks at #1 as nothing else is challenging it yet! The song is fantastic, the lyrics are FIRE and the production is fantastic. I'm so glad it's done so well for the girls.

02. Lady Gaga - 911

Release Date: May 29, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC

911 is just a BOP, BOP, BOP  :music:. This is the song that clicked with me IMMEDIATELY upon first hearing Chromatica. It is so infectious and catchy and I can't get enough of it. Look at the chart run! You can see how much I loved it this year. It's probably the most unfortunate track that never managed to hit #1 for me, but it has stuck around for so long... and has even re-entered my chart last week! I am really disappointed that Lady Gaga and her label didn't push 911 more as a single, a music video and one performance at the VMAs isn't really enough and the song could have been another big smash. Still, number two on my EOY chart and fully deserved.

01. Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande - Rain On Me

I mean, let's be honest, this comes as no surprise does it

Rain On Me was my very first number one and what a number one it was! Making it Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's sixth UK number one. This song really is just pop perfection isn't it? It was the song that absolutely got me through this year and everything I wanted from Gaga and more. I'd go as far as to say it's one of my all time favourite songs. Gaga and Ariana's voices compliment each other so well too!
It is STILL in my chart after 31 weeks and is the only song that hasn't left my chart from the very first one in May! Looking at my chart for tomorrow, it's set to once again go back into the top 20. Well done to Lady Gaga on getting my top TWO of 2020 also. :cheer:
The highlight of my year and many pop fans, I'm sure.

RAIN.
ON.
ME.
