Ghetts' previous albums have missed the top 20 so again would be a big feat if he can suddenly get a #1 now (even considering the low sales that will be necessary!)
Admittedly I don't know anything about him but there's some pretty notable collaborations on the album and it's not unusual for these sort of acts to suddenly blow out of seemingly nowhere.

last Mogwai album opened with 6K:

It is 20 years next month since Glaswegian rock band Mogwai's debut album Young Team gained a toehold on the chart, debuting at No.75 on sales of 2,683 copies. Their 10th regular studio album, Every Country's Sun, is also the highest-charting, debuting at No.6 (6,331 sales) to surpass their ninth, which became their first to make the Top 10 when it debuted and peaked at No.10 (7,783 sales) in 2014. They have been in the chart since then with Atomic, the soundtrack to a BBC war documentary with instrumental soundscapes fashioned by the band, which reached No.20 (4,242 sales) last year.

and I could be wrong as I'm not really a fan, but I've seen a lot of hype for this Mogwai album today - and they were trending on twitter this morning! I reckon they could manage 10k

Yeah I'm not sure how popular he is given it's not my sort of music  but his collab with Stormzy this year only reached #50

That was his first time reaching the singles chart at all as lead artist I believe (although he had a top 40 hit as a featured artist on a Stormzy album track before that) - he's been a well respected name in the grime scene for a long time but not really made much of an impact commercially so far.

Fun fact: he was one of the featured artists on Ed Sheeran's first project that received any mainstream attention (the 'No.5 Collaborations Project' EP) so Ed's feature on his new album is coming full circle a decade later!

Ghetts is a legend in grime so I would be delighted but very surprised to see him get to #1.

He's a bit more of a legacy act now in the same way as Dizzee & Wiley so I can't see him managing more than what Wiley's Godfather did in 2017.

Yeh he’s a big name in grime, enjoyed Mozambique last year and the new singles good too, radio 1 supporting him a bit too so should do well on streaming, maybe top 5 overall.

but his album doesn't sound like grime at all,

almost sounds like r'n'b to me :D

I dread to think what album sales are going to be like this week. Presumably a return to the top for Dua or The Weeknd.
Digga D should get enough streaming points to go number one I think given the lack of competition.

Ah yes, I didn't notice his album. Yeah he'll probably be #1.

Architects might take the #2 spot - their last album sold 7,435 despite its #18 peak! True it was released in November but I doubt they're stocking fillers for Christmas.

Ah that's more than I thought given its peak! I think it could actually be close if they push for it throughout the week

if their last one opened with 7K, the new one should do similarly or even more, so rooting for Architects

for what I understand they have 4/5 different colour vinyls alone

They're up to #5 on Apple Music atm which is good

Digga D isn't off to as strong a start as I expected on Apple, can see it being close between him and Architects.
