BREATHE ON ME
[Avg. 9.65]

Highest Score: Nina West & JuanCarlos 11
Lowest Score: letloverule 07

Kicking off the top 10 is the highest non-single in the countdown, it's the sultry, smooth and sexy BREATHE ON ME which was taken from Britney's 4th studio album, 'In The Zone'. It's widely regarded as Brit's most controversial song and many think it should have been a single. Her performance of this song on her Onyx Hotel Tour is one of the best performances ever. For a performance that was only ever on tour, it's crazy just how much traction it got. I remember a whole lot of controversy surrounding it and parents being "shocked and stunned" lmaooooo. It's not my "favourite" Britney song, but it is absolutely KILLER! Definitely up there though. Great song and yes... it SHOULD have been a single.

Breathe On Me is fantastic definitely a missed single opportunity.

Realistically ‘In The Zone’ could’ve had five or six singles.

(YOU DRIVE ME) CRAZY [sTOP! REMIX]
[Avg. 9.83]

Highest Score: Jay*, Nina West & JosephStyles 11
Lowest Score: ...ready for it & blacksquare 08

(YOU DRIVE ME) CRAZY [sTOP! REMIX] is the next song to leave. It ended up becoming the 3rd single from her debut album with a single remix where it feels punchier and has the ICONIC "STOP!" beat drop! Such a great single choice and the song is fantastic. It was another top 5 smash for R BRIT. It peaked at #5 as it followed up the #1 & #3 smashes 'Baby One More Time' & 'Sometimes'. So weird that this was the lowest charting single from the album when post-album single 'Born To Make You Happy' scored the UK #1! What a crazy time. It feels a lot bigger than both 'Sometimes' and 'Born To Make You Happy', am I the only one? Lol. Anyway, the video is another ICONIC serve. The outfits, the choreo, the fact they're back at a school disco and OMG THAT'S SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH!!!!!! Incredible.

TOXIC
[Avg. 9.84]

Lowest Score: euphorique & dannjohn 07

Up next and a HUGE shock... TOXIC is the next to leave us at a rather underwhelming #8 position. The 2nd single from 'In The Zone' and a song that is often cited as a pop classic and more often than not, it's usually battling it out with 'Baby One More Time' and/or 'Everytime' in singles rates and countdowns, but lately it seems to have been fading (well not so much "fading" coz this average, is probably higher than any average it's had before when it's won these types of things - idk) in Buzzjack's affections for some strange reason and has been failing to get much support behind it... it's really quite bizarre! An absolute MONSTER of a pop song and one of the most defining hits of the noughties. Stellar pop song. Outstanding, career best, video... everything. It became her 4th UK #1 and deservedly so. I wasn't expecting this to miss the top 3, but if people had rated in every single part of the rate, then maybe the results woulda been a bit different, idk.

I think Buzzjack just went through a phase of being sick of seeing 'Toxic' win all the time so probably didn't score this as much as they usually would... but now that it's lost to a few songs I can see BJ rallying behind it again in other rates! What a masterpiece.

BORN TO MAKE YOU HAPPY
[Avg. 9.92]

Highest Score: ...ready for it, NickF1, letloverule, HausofKubrick, JosephStyles & Euphorique 11
Lowest Score: Jade 07

Finishing in 7th position is BORN TO MAKE YOU HAPPY which I don't think was a single in the US! Everywhere else got this as the final single from the debut album and it managed to become Britney's 2nd UK number 1 single. A really, incredibly impressive feat considering the album had sold the amount it did at the time and none of the other singles before it and since 'Baby One More Time' managed to get that #1! I feel like BTMYH is one of her more mature efforts from the early stages of her career. It's a bop. I have never "loved" it the way I should, but I've always appreciated and liked it. I'm glad it closed out the era on a massive high! Definitely one of her more forgotten songs nowadays, I think. Which is a shame, but at least Buzzjack love it!
Oh I love Born To Make You Happy. One of my favs from early Britney. The start of the song always just got me and she looked smoking hot, all in white in the video.

STRONGER
[Avg. 9.96]

Highest Score: Jay*, Tafty, Nina West & jAddy! 11
Lowest Score: Euphorique 07

Just missing out on the top 5 is the infectious, catchy and one of the biggest most empowering anthems of all time... STRONGER became the 3rd single to be taken from Britney's record breaking 2nd album 'Oops...! I Did It Again'. It's always been a huge favourite of mine and I really believe if given the right exposure, this would make an impact again in some kind of way. The ultimate self-love anthem imo. That intro is LEGENDARY. SO much impact. The video is another iconic one and if you weren't trying to do that chairography in school with your friends, then I would believe you are a liar. Incredible. This was the BIIIIG highlight of her tour when I went to see her back in 2017. The crowd went ballistic for it. Just amazing. I will never get bored of this.
