Some great songs here, though it wasn't the best 90s year, in least in comparison to some others (I do have a soft spot for some of the songs just because though, like my birthday number 1, I Will Always Love You)

I did a Top 10 list of my favourite songs from the UK CIN 1999 Year End (according to UKMix and the Chartwatch Annual Charts Booklet of 1999). Here is the link, for those who are curious: https://dalekturret32.blogspot.com/2020/11/...gs-of-1999.html

Blondie released four great singles in 1979 year (Sunday Girl, Dreaming, Heart of Glass, Union City Blue).

From my ongoing countdown, these are my favourite top 40 hits of 1997:

Jade, there is something wrong with not including true pop classic "No Way No Way" in the list of best songs from 1997 year. :)

Fleetwood Mac - Little Lies

Heart - Alone

Jan Hammer - Crockett's Theme

I can recommend my current retrospective 1987 charts thread, but maybe they may seem bizzare.

vision of love <3

Same!

I'm not a massive fan of the music from 1990 but the holy trinity of that year has to be "Vision Of Love", "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and "Vogue".

1990 Whitney had All The Man That I Need too, one of her very best for me

Oh yes actually that is one of Whitney's best as well - that whole album is pretty strong. Basically 1990 is about peak Whitney and Mariah introducing herself to the world. <3

1990 wasn't great was it.

Roxette - It Must Have Been Love, could that be classed as 90?

Kylie Minogue - Better The Devil You Know

Wilson Phillips - Hold On

Roxette - Listen To Your Heart / Dangerous

Belinda Carlisle - (We Want) The Same Thing

Interesting question! I don’t know what was from 1979 aside from Blondie’s ‘Sunday Girl’ as I know that was my birth #1. I’ll do some digging to find out more...

Tut Tut, arguably the year when pop music reached it's peak!

I'll pick some for you that you'll love:

Are 'Friends' Electric - Tubeway Army

Boys Keep Swinging - David Bowie

Voulez Vous - Abba

Pop Musik - M

and some you ought to love:

get It Right Next Time - Gerry rafferty

We Dont talk Anymore - Cliff

Griegs Piano Concerto Number 1 (covered over a hundred years later by Morecambe & Wise)

and anything by Brahms and Liszt
