Set to be released this year.

On the way to producer Daniel Tashian's house to work on her new album, which is set to be released this year, she explains how two days ago she was in the process of sitting with her sadness, listening to Bach's "Komm, süßer Tod, komm selge Ruh," when suddenly the word 'tragedy' sprung to mind. This got her thinking about Greek tragedies and the classic three-act narrative, which got her thinking about her divorce and also about the state of America and also about the state of the world at large, locked down and fearful. "This last chapter of my life and this whole last year and chapter for our country — at its most simple form, it's a tragedy," she figured. "And then I started looking into why portraying a tragedy is actually therapeutic and why it is a form of art that has lasted for centuries. It's because you set the scene, the audience rises to the climax of the problem with you, and then there's resolve. There's a feeling of resolution at the end. I was inspired by that."

Golden Hour is one of the best albums of all time and LORD I could not be more excited at the thought of a Kacey album that centres round tragedy in the context of the word now!! This is going to be another huge serve I know it *.* She's such an honest writer who so easily captures universal feelings, or makes you feel like her feelings are your own, I think a mix of inspirations like that could be really special.
Amen to that Liam! I'll touch wood just in case but even with Golden Hour setting the bar so high, this is already looking like such a different album that it should be good in its own way, no matter how it compares to the others. Can't wait to hear some new lyrics and for her to push the boundaries of country even further.

Still slated to be out later this year, but Variety reveals that this album will be released via Interscope and UMG Nashville partnership.

Kacey Musgraves' next album, due out later this year, will be jointly released via Interscope Records and UMG Nashville. The partnership will find the labels collaborating on marketing, radio promotion and international marketing for the six-time Grammy winner’s new music.

According to people with knowledge of the deal, the partnership is geared at expanding Musgraves' reach as an international artist and leveraging IGA's global presence to help achieve that goal. The appeal to Musgraves' management team, led by Sandbox Entertainment's Owen, was in IGA's reputation for launching a record or project. Also, Owen and Janick have long wanted to work together.
