Slide Away / Malibu / We Can't Stop would be good for this round

The Climb and Party In The Usa are underrated and not appreciated here

Slide Away >>> Malibu imo

We Can’t Stop or Midnight Sky feel like more obvious choices if we’re going for a hit

My mind is all over the place with this one now! Unfortunately with only 5 rounds where it is possible to send singles, we're not going to be able to send all of the suggestions above but I hope you're happy with what we end up going for
Thinkin' or Bad Mood for album tracks choices

we have angels like you, plastic hearts for that !

Miley's recent rate results

04. Slide Away

03. Nothing Breaks Like A Heart !!! YES

02. Wrecking Ball

01. Midnight Sky

I'd probably go with Slide Away, Nothing Breaks Like A Heart but I feel like PITUSA can be a big pop voter.

I know Midnight Sky is very recent but it is an undeniable jewel in Miley's discography. Definitely a worthy contender for the final round if Miley gets there.

If only 5 singles get to be picked then my preferred five would be Slide Away, Midnight Sky, Malibu, Wrecking Ball and Nothing Breaks Like A Heart/We Can't Stop. But I don't know how popular they all are with the forum. :P

ROUND 1: free choice

'Slide Away' (2019)

Released two years ago, off the back of the 'She Is' EP plan being scrapped, comes one of Miley's most underrated moments. Slide Away was another minor hit for her in both the UK Official Chart (#40) and the US Billboard Hot 100 (#47). It is one of her most open tracks describing her break up from ex-husband Liam Hemsworth and the reasons for them drifting apart. I'd go as far as to say that it has one of the most gorgeous outros in recent pop music - it's up there with SZA's 'Good Days', for me.

I listened to what you guys said and for now I think we'll save our big two for later on. You better all pull through and vote for it now! We're up against some tough competition and some outright uptempo bangers but I'm hopeful that 'Slide Away' can hold its own.

Loved this instantly.

3rd for Slide Away! Not a bad start x

Looking at Round 2, we have to pick a first or final single from an era. I reckon this one is really between Malibu OR Party in the USA based on the reception in this thread. I'll throw We Can't Stop in the mix too so but I think it's a bit more divisive than the other two. Looking at the road map ahead, this could be the last chance for any of these songs so let it be known if you have some strong opinions, or forever hold your peace :teresa:

I would go with Party In The USA but I think Malibu would do better!

You could also get away with The Climb, Can’t Be Tamed or Prisoner!

We Can't Stop (high chance of making my votes)

Party In the USA (high chance of making my votes)

Malibu (I like it, but it depends what else is sent!)

So that settles it, go for Malibu

Malibu for me- I can’t see Party making my votes and We Can’t Stop might depend on the other songs chosen

ROUND 2: first or last single from an era

'Malibu' (from Younger Now, 2017)

The stripped-down approach worked pretty well for us in Round 1 so I'm hoping that 'Malibu' can somewhat recreate that success. This track is one of my all-time personal favourite Miley singles and was actually my most played by her until the Plastic Hearts era arrived and 'Midnight Sky' stormed ahead. It was her first step into the direction of mellowing down after the insanely controversial Bangerz and Dead Petz eras, and worked well at reminding the public of what she was capable of when she turned the crazy off for a moment.

It just missed out on a top ten spot in the UK Official Charts but is now certified Platinum so it has stood the test of time. It fared slightly better in the US reaching a #10 peak on the other side of the pond. Fingers crossed it can reach a higher spot here like it deserved all along.
