I imagine it could be pretty sordid and a bit of a roller coaster.

I'm not expecting it to be an easy watch.

But -as we all know - he did get his happy ending so from a movie point of view - it's perfect.

Still not understanding why they have to re-create 1998 though.

Can't they just pay a fee and use some of the Brits footage with the real Tom Jones?

We can expect it to be controversial, that's for sure. I am tying to imagine what it will be like

Robbie likes the acting to be real , we know that from previous videos he has done, I am thinking Come Undone / Different videos

I just hope they tell the story well & that some documentary stuff with him talking about his life story features in the film , I want it to be the real deal.

He has had such an amazing story to tell really & as you say Laura we know it has that wonderful happy ending :)

I suppose using old footage would look out of place with the rest of the film.

Well, I like the casting by far. And you?

Liam Head - Howard Donald

Jesse Hyde - Mark Owen

Chase Vollenweder - Jason Orange

Jake Simmance - Gary Barlow

Jonno Davies - Robbie but as CGI. Anyway he played Alex in CLockwork Orange musical. Right image by my opinion.

Yes, he does have the right image Alex but will he have Rob's face super-imposed over his like they did in the film The Irishman, that is what I am expecting given they are using CGI

I see what you are saying Laura about just using old footage for the Brits scene but maybe the old footage does not fit in with the way the story is being brought to screen . It will be interesting to see how they do it .

Yes, I agree , will need to see the overall concept & how they tell the story ..

Robbie Williams reveals he will play HIMSELF in upcoming biopic Better Man but says movie bosses are looking an actor to play his younger self

Michael Gracey said the film will not be like Rocketman or Bohemian Rhapsody, which were about musical prodigies that the world had to catch up to.

He described Robbie as an 'everyman' who has an 'incredibly relatable story' about following your dreams.

Robbie Williams Musical Underway; Michael Gracey Rounds Cast With Jonno Davies, Steve Pemberton, Alison Steadman

ndVCeg2.jpg

EXCLUSIVE: Principal photography has begun on Better Man, and Deadline has the first image from production. This is the musical feature film based on the life of singer Robbie Williams, with Australian filmmaker Michael Gracey at the helm. Gracey’s debut film, The Greatest Showman, grossed over $435M at the global box office.

Williams makes his feature debut playing one of the iterations of himself, of which there are several. Another is played by rising UK star Jonno Davies (Hunters, Kingsman: The Secret Service), who plays Williams throughout his younger adult life, with British stage and screen veterans Steve Pemberton (Inside No. 9, Killing Eve) and Alison Steadman (The Kings Man, Roald & Beatrix). The film’s Australian cast includes Damon Herriman (Judy & Punch), Kate Mulvany (Elvis) and Anthony Hayes (War Machine).

Currently filming in Melbourne, Australia, Better Man is an introspective look at the rise, fall and resurrection of UK superstar Robbie Williams, one of the bestselling artists of all time. From his humble upbringing in Stoke-On-Trent, England, Williams was catapulted to fame in the early nineties at the tender age of fifteen, as a founding member of the era’s biggest British boy band. The singer found further success as a solo artist, with 11 out of 12 of his studio albums charting number one in the UK. Better Man aims to give audiences a powerful and unique insight into how Williams sees himself and the demons he has battled both on and off stage. Gracey will bring light to the incredible highs and lows of a rock star’s journey by satirizing moments inspired by the artist’s life story. The fantastical musical will be filled with reimagined versions of Williams’ hit music, dancing, and spectacular sets melded with stunning visual effects created by the team at Weta FX.

International sales are being handled by Rocket Science.

Gracey is repped by CAA, Partizan, and Hirsch Wallerstein; Williams is CAA and ie:music ltd. Davies is Denton Brierley, Gersh, Alan Siegel Entertainment and attorney Lucy Popkin.

I am begging to get excited about this, I think it will be amazing ;)

According to Wikipedia, the visual effects studio, WetaFX, is the one behind Lord of the rings and Avatar. I hope that means that the CGI monkey and other effects will be good. :yahoo:

Here's a smaller version -it's a great picture isn't it.

Lovely to see him in a suit again.

Yes, sure!

Very interesting how it will be showed!

I wasn't a fan of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie but their scenes aka Live Aid were perfect. Hope for the same quality...

I enjoyed BR but I believe some of the storylines were factually incorrect , I guess as Freddie is no longer around they felt they could do that .. The film brought back a lot of memories, clothing styles, music, hair , it was a wonderful time , some brilliant bands around at that time.

I loved both BR and Rocketman. Completely different films but both great in their way.

I'll watch the Elvis one too when it comes out. B-)

There is one about David Bowie on Netflix which I must watch, I love those type of films . There was lots of things I had not now about Freddy Mercury so I found it very interesting . I have not watched Rocketman yet but will do .
