Hints 86-90

We are sticking with me presenting this section, though it'll be posted by tomorrow so no delays this time, so time to get commenting on the above section! x (no there is no hint in that sentence I promise!!)

Whether we're opening an awards show or closing an album, there's a wide selection of songs here. And some of them won't bring sadness! (ft. Grammy Winner) (bees not from the vault)

you got both of them!!! :cheer: :cheer: we love to see it

You are great at guessing these!

We are starting to get towards the business end of the ultimate rate ... exciting :cheer:

I Know Places is such a smash, that chorus really does bang as hard as it does the first time I heard it!! Shame to see it rank so low in terms of 1989 - wouldn’t have thought it’d be under the likes of Clean and Bad Blood for example.

Illicit Affairs actually really grew on me recently, I’d have given it a bit more than a 6 now. From the “don’t call me kid, don’t call me baby” part it really steps up a notch.

Same with me with illicit affairs. I’m going to start the #latetothepartyappreciationforillicitaffairs group.

Also having a similar experience with Evermore - wow - rated that far too low in my rate. Boy does that really get going at one point in the song

some predictions then all will be revealed x

Okay I'm going to guess the lakes for the album closer, either I Did Something Bad or YNTCD for the award show opener and maybe Bad Blood for the feature? No idea what the bees thing means tho
says the one that never completes a rate x

i finished the miley rate

#86-#90:

86. Delicate (Seeb Remix) [Avg. 7.69]
87. I Did Something Bad [Avg. 7.69]
88. happiness [Avg. 7.68]
89. Long Live [Avg. 7.67]
90. Breathe (ft. Colbie Caillat) [Avg. 7.64]

So in this section, we continue with album cuts! This time round we lose 2 tracks from reputation (a fan fave album track + a remix of a single), speak now's closer, another evermore album track departs, and a grammy nominated duet from Fearless.

Starting us off in 90th, we lose our 3rd Fearless album track that made the top 100! This time leaving us we have the collaboration with late 2000's hitmaker Colbie Caillat on the gorgeous Breathe. (or more like wonderful backing vocals x). Breathe is such a stunning track and an instant highlight of early Taylor's discography! The lyrics are absolutely gorgeous, the first verse whew and that bridge, so emotional & always hits me right in the feels! The vocals are gorgeous on this one too and it is easily a standout on Fearless <3 I'm so glad it made the top 100 and probs did better than expected here!! Such a gorgeous song & one of Taylor's best ever collaborations <3 This received 10's from Jktoon, John-James and myself, whilst receiving a lowest score of 5, so pretty solid overall!

Next up we have Speak Now's anthemic album closer Long Live! The song is so beautiful *& one that really hit me over the past few years, the lyrics work perfectly and I love how each verse looks back on the previous one. This song is such a MOMENT live, most recently being performed in a fabulous mash-up on Rep Tour! I remember... HELP I HAVE NO IDEA. I got to this point in the commentary a couple days ago and for some reason decided to stop mid sentence, and I oop :kink: Anyway moving on... this was so fab on Rep Tour & the audience reaction from the london show was insane, I just remember the clapping going on forever!! This definitely works as one of her strongest album closers! <3 This received a 10 form John James & a lot of high scores, but a 3 from Dexton & a 4 from Lee significantly brought it down. Continuing with long songs in this section, evermore continues to lose tracks quite quickly, with a 5th song exciting now in the form of happiness. Which despite the happy title, is f***ing deceiving because happiness brings a lot of sadness x It's not one I go back to hugely but I do really love it, and as a sucker for anything the great Gatsby related, I am OBSESSED with all the references on this song to it <3 For me personally, I feel this would've worked well as the track 5 for evermore! (tho obvs I'm in the minority there judging by this rate x). an underrated beautiful album track, even though I definitely wouldn't place it higher than its finished here! happiness received a 10 from Jktoon & a 4 from Dexton, but apart from that literally every score was between 6 & 9 which fits with this being a consistently liked song but not a huge fave.

And finishing off this section, we have two very different songs from the same era, one being a full-on dark heavy production banger, and the other being a perfect summer remix of easily one of the chillest songs (and a single) on the album. I'm very shocked at I Did Something Bad finishing this low!! I thought it'd be like just inside/outside the top 50!! but then again buzzjack has never been huge on Rep, especially with the heavy produced tracks which I Did Something Bad falls into. The song slaps live and it was also the first song of the Rep era to get an awards show performance nearly a year into the era, despite being an album track and none of the 4 singles receiving that promo opportunity!! I adore this song so much and its probs one of my faves from Rep, I love the lyrics of the verses & the chorus just explodes and is such a moment every time I hear it. The burning all the witches is iconic and I just wanna scream this song outloud every time I hear it. ratatatata is also iconic in the fanbase and we love to see it. What a song. Anyway y'all flops made it bomb here so let's talk through the stats x I Did Something Bad received 10's from DionTheSats123, Doug, Lunar & myself (has to be one of the songs with the most 10s to leave yet?!), but two 2's from Lee & Jade, a 4 & a 5 sink it down pretty heavily. Def one of the most divisive songs so far! Surprisingly beating it is one of the last remixes left in this rate, also from the same era! (I think in terms of ones not pushed to radio, we have one more remix & one more demo iirc). Ugh I so so wish they pushed the delicate seeb remix as an alternate single version, especially in Europe where I think it rly could've helped the song be a big hit!! This was perfect for summer, and after this dropped in like June I was obsessed and played it during the hot weather so many times!! It legit came at the perfect time with the weather getting good + the fab original being a single for a while now, and whew for once a Taylor remix slappedT. I love how the chorus hook on the remix was taken from a line from one of the verses which is pretty rare for a pop remix, and it really restructures the song in such a magical way that makes it euphoric whilst keeping the charm! Definitely one of her best remixes ever and I'm glad it managed to do so well in this rate & get the top 100 place it deserves!! A real underrated bright spot in her discography & is so slept on usually due to being a remix. Anyway, unsurprisingly I gave this a 10 & my fellow mod London joined me in showing this taste, whilst it received pretty solid scores overall.

Opening an awards show = I did something bad

closing an album = long live

some of them won't bring sadness = happiness

(ft. Grammy Winner) = Colbie Caillat = Breathe

(bees not from the vault) = brackets tag = remix + seeb backwards = bees

You got I Did Something Bad!!! (Ngl in terms of award show openers, I am shocked that went out before YNTCD ). Bad Blood and The Lakes are still in though! (I was convinced the latter was already out and I just realised it isn't omg and I oop )

Hints 81-85

One album loses two songs: of these two songs, one I associate with Brooklyn and the other one with Winter.

If I was making a film, I def wouldn't film royalty in LA unless I wanted some long cuts.

And one of the songs hinted above I was convinced would finish at like ~155, but somehow made the top 100 and is probably the most random song to make it there

I Did Something Bad way too low!! I thought it was more popular than that?
