March 31, 20214 yr Wow amazing for Arlo Parks The rest, too many WTF nominations everywhere Its like which big label pays the most Arlo Parks is one of the more "WTF" nominations on that list imo... I think it's a pretty good set of nominations for once. Apart from the International Female category perhaps.
March 31, 20214 yr Is it? I was always expecting her to be there, it was critically very well recieved
March 31, 20214 yr so glad Jessie Ware got nominated, best album of the year along with Kylie & Dua... gutted that Kylie got snubbed but it was expected due to ageism...
March 31, 20214 yr In terms of the album quality, Arlo is deserved... But I tried to think amazing British album that made a decent splash outside of the fanbase and can't think of any, apart from Headie One, which could've been there. Then there are some indie rock albums, but even though I like Idles' album, it has zero relevance for general public. The 1975 perhaps, but that was weaker than their usual efforts. March 31, 20214 yr I’m a bit confused by the eligibility criteria. Billie and Cardi B both nominated despite not releasing an album during the year? Is it just based on any release now? If that’s the case won’t the same artists just clog up the same categories year in and year out? I mean I guess both Cardi B and Billie will be nominated again next year as they’re both probably releasing albums this year.
March 31, 20214 yr Is it? I was always expecting her to be there, it was critically very well recieved I'm not surprised at all at her making the British Female list but the AOTY nominations usually tend to be more commercially successful than this, or at least going to more established names, no? (Then again 'What's Your Pleasure?' is also a little less successful than AOTY noms usually are so perhaps they're just finally moving away from that award being so biased to the best selling albums)
March 31, 20214 yr Is it? I was always expecting her to be there, it was critically very well recieved Is that not for the Mercury’s though? The brits is for commercial success but she did do well with the album peak wise I guess!

Good to see though
March 31, 20214 yr I can't get over Billie being nominated for International Female despite basically doing nothing, except for a Bond theme song that nobody really remembers. Plenty of other artists could have been given that nomination instead. It's so ridiculous that I'd even say Ava Max deserved a nomination more.
March 31, 20214 yr She had two other top 10 hits last year :P (not saying she should be on there again but saying she only did the Bond theme is factually inaccurate - she's not even the least active person nominated for that category, Cardi B literally did only have one song released as lead artist in 2020!)
March 31, 20214 yr She had two other top 10 hits last year :P (not saying she should be on there again but saying she only did the Bond theme is factually inaccurate) What were they? *edit - shiiiit, completely forgot 'Therefore I Am' existed and that was actually really recent. :o Edited March 31, 20214 yr by Tawdry Hepburn
March 31, 20214 yr 'my future' and 'Therefore I Am' - I understand forgetting about the former but the latter was a pretty big hit.
