That will be the end of Steps spending for you for a while.

Dear Steps Fan,

As you know we were planning to ship the ‘What the Future Holds - Live’ project next week (w/c 5th Sept). However, a combination of delays at the printers and the postal strike mean that we will have to postpone this by 1 week.

We are truly very sorry, and understand this will be disappointing but it truly was unavoidable, despite all our best efforts.

Thank you for your continued patience, and if this affects you to the point you need to contact our customer service department, we would appreciate your continued kindness to our team as this delay is out of their hands.

We are very excited for you to get your hands on the show and we can’t wait to hear what you think of it. It’s been a true labour of love, and we are super proud of how it’s turned out.

Nearly there…

Live Here Now

Sales wi be split then over 2 weeks.

? What do you mean?

Shame about the delay but considering the postal strikes it’s a sensible delay.

Aren’t DVD sales still Monday-Sunday?

That's right. Though in terms of the charts, I don't think it matters too much for Steps that they will only have Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday sales contributing to a Friday chart entry in the album chart (sales from formats that include a CD). Mainly because their releases are so frontloaded anyway, so the vast majority of the sales they achieve will occur during pre-order and during those opening days on sale. It's still essentially a full first week sale.

What the Future Holds Live seems like it is going to remain as an exclusive to the LiveHereNow website, which is different to how their 2017 Party on the Dancefloor release was handled. Those formats also had availability on HMV and Amazon. I'm assuming that because this new release is less widely available, this will limit its chart potential... so I wouldn't be surprised if it's less successful. I'm not holding out hope for it going Top 20 anyway. We'll see though!

I'm not too fussed about their chart impact with this release to be honest, live releases tend to be niche anyway. I'm very much looking forward to owning it and watching it though!

Yeah I was expecting it to go on Amazon and HMV so I think top 20 is out of the window now, hope it goes too 40 and the other is still in the top 40 would be cool to have two in there at least. I still need to order my copy really looking forwards to seeing this show as I missed it due to covid.

I wonder why they are doing it this way? It will cost me more buying this way due to shipping, I wonder is it limited availability as well.

I didn't realise how exclusive it was. Yeah I think top 20 maybe even top 50 is a bridge to far.

Happy my copy has been ordered though. :)

I need to order mine 2m to be safe.

I do hate when these niche type release styles are done as it throws away some sales opportunities i think.

Maybe it’s to do with the rights & the distribution costs, a better deal for Steps for it to be exclusive to this particular store.

It’ll be interesting to discover if the audio gets a release on iTunes and streaming platforms. There’s no iTunes preorder, but I can’t remember whether their previous live album had an iTunes preorder.

Before I ordered it I was banking on it getting an iTunes release, then thought nah I'll just bite the bullet and get it as the DVD would be worth the watch.
They dont even have it listed on their own store, its also a shame their own store offers very little music wise, apart from the platinum collection i only see one version of what the future holds available.
It is similar for many artists, music purchases are generally the current releases only.
