Interesting spread of top 20!

 

Season 5 and 6 having the most queens in it kinda unsurprising. Thrilled Bimini has made it up here to compete with so many iconic US girls - and that Jaida's popularity shows no sign of waning despite it being a while since her win and it being a year where she hasn't been able to do much to raise her profile or build on her legacy.

20 = Valentina (Series 9 | All Stars 4) = 255pts
Number of Votes = 11



Kicking off the top 20 is Series 9 and All Stars 4 Queen Valentina. Valentina is the second highest Series 9 Queen behind Shea and managed to gain 11 votes in total. I was surprised to see Valentina make the top 20 as I would’ve thought her popularity may have waned slightly over the years. She made a great impact on Series 9, however her run was cut short after hitting the bottom 2 and then she forgot the words to the lip sync song… or did she :D That particular lip sync did provide us with one of the most Iconic Drag Race moments though when Ru asked her to remove her mask. Her elimination was shocking at the time as was the reaction from other Queens that series when she was crowned Miss Congeniality. In fact, writing these and having just watched Series 9… it is sort of peak Drag Race in many ways – so many iconic Queens/ moments. Valentina returned for All Stars 4 and despite a win finished in 7th place – she had some good moments, but even and she got a villains edit. Still a fierce Queen and she had so many iconic moments throughout her time on the show.

Naomi is my fave ever she’s so above it all and know she is the one and her fashions for me are unmatched (in particular her AS4 fashion run- WOW) and them two lipsyncs in AS4 were some of the all time greatest

19 = Adore Delano (Series 6 | All Stars 2) = 270pts

At 19 is the first of three Queens from Series 6 to make the top 20; Adore Delano. Adore managed to gain 1 top ranking and 12 votes in total. I loved Adore on Series 6 when I first watched it and whilst I think overtime my love has lessened slightly, she is still such a fierce Queen. Initially on Series 6 Adore hit a couple of bumps and placed low in the first two challenges… to be honest she probably should’ve had to Lip Sync in the first week. However she managed to finally hit her stride with the Rusical and then gained back to back wins. Adore went on to get to the final despite 2 bottom 2 appearances, however in the end finished as a runner-up to Bianca. She then returned to All Stars 2 where after getting torn apart by Michelle for her runway she decided to quit the series. I watched All Stars 2 recently and the critique did kind of seem overly harsh and out of the blue, but Adore herself felt a bit out of her depth. I recently read she was meant to appear in the next All Stars series but it didn’t work out, it would be good to see her return though for another go.

18 = Shea Coulee (Series 9 | All Stars 5) = 272pts
Number of Votes = 13



At 18 is Shea Coulee who the highest ranked Queen from Series 9 and the 8th Highest ranked winner. Shea managed to gain 13 votes in total and finishes 18pts away from a top 15 placement. Shea’s run on Series 9 was incredibly strong; 4 challenge wins and 3 other high placements with only 1 bottom 2 appearance. She seemed like a shoe-in to take the crown, however the lip sync for the crown saw her eliminated in 3rd/ 4th place. Sasha completely dominated her in their Lip Sync and seemed to have an intensity that evening which was unmatched. Shea then returned for All Stars 5 and was the front-runner from the outset, however only managed 2 challenge wins. Despite this she was eventually crowned the winner of the Series and became the 3rd Series 9 Queen to be crowned. Despite having 4 Queens in the top 25, Series 9 becomes the 6th series (US, UK, CA) to be all out of Queens.

17 = Willam (Series 4) = 280pts
Number of Votes = 11



At 17 is the highest ranked Queen from Series 4; Willam. She managed to gain 11 votes in total and finishes quite a way ahead of the rest of the Series 4 Queens. Willam came into Series 4 for the win and despite not hitting high for the first few weeks definitely made an impression. She seemed to be hitting her stride before hitting bottom 2 and then ultimately being disqualified. Willam was a fierce Queen and extremely funny at times with her inflated ego and comments to the other Queens. She probably would’ve made it until at least the final 5 had she not been disqualified, however she went out in style and with one of the most iconic moments in Drag Race; being sick on, then Sharon and Phi Phi Lip Syncing, only for her to then be brought forward. She’d probably do well in an All Stars series to be fair, although probably wont be back. With Willam out it means that Series 4 becomes the 7th series (US, UK, CA) to be all out of Queens.

16 = Detox (Series 5 | All Stars 2) = 285pts
Number of Votes = 12



Just outside the top 15 is the 4th highest Queen from Series 5; Detox. She gained 12 votes in total and is 5 points shy of a top 15 place. I thought Detox was great on both her Seasons, whilst the Rolaskatox stuff became a bit grating at time I did feel that Detox had the skills to back up her attitude. In Series 5 Detox had a great start and managed a challenge win the first 3 weeks, she had a dire Snatch Game and hit the bottom 2, however lasted until the top 4 before being eliminated against eventual winner Jinkx. Detox then returned for All Stars 2 and her runways were even more amazing! She won 2 challenges and made it to the final this time finishing behind Alaska with Katya.

I’m quite surprised to see Detox this high but she is definitely in my top five of all time

15 = Violet Chachki (Series 7) = 290pts
Number of Votes = 10 (1 Top Ranking)



Kicking off the top 15 is Violet Chachki who managed to gain 1 top ranking and 10 votes. Whilst she has less votes than the rest of the top 20, near enough all of her votes were high. Violet is the second highest Queen from Series 7 (behind Katya) and the seventh highest winner. I really liked Violet on Series 7 and whilst she may have had a bit of a superior attitude at the beginning should could certainly bring it on the runway. Yes some of the improv and acting challenges weren’t the strongest, however she made up for it in other ways. She grew a lot in character throughout the competition as well and I think was a deserving winner. She managed to win 3 challenges overall and never hit the bottom 2. Its funny rewatching the series though and having Violet win after Bianca as you couldn’t really get two more different Queens in terms of their strengths etc. Both are great Queens though and deserving of the crown.

14 = Manila Luzon (Series 3 | All Stars 1 | All Stars 4) = 306pts

At 14 is Manila Luzon who has starred in Series 3, All Stars 1 and All Stars 4, of those series she is the second highest Series 3 Queen and the second highest Queen from All Stars 1. However Manila is the top ranked Queen from All Stars 4 and managed to gain 1 top ranking. I thought Manila killed pretty much every series she’s been in, in Series 3 she managed to win 3 challenges and place high on 4 other occasions, only hitting the bottom 2 once. She made it all the way to the final and finished in 2nd place behind Raja, however throughout the competition she showed she could give great runway and excel in most of the challenges. She returned for All Stars 1 where she was paired with Latrice and they were the third Queens to be eliminated, she then returned for All Stars 4 where despite 3 back and back wins, she only made it to 6th place. All Stars 4 becomes the first All Stars series to be all out of Queens.

13 = Jaida Essence Hall (Series 12) = 328pts
Number of Votes = 13



At 13 is the second highest Queen from Series 12; Jaida Essence Hall. Jaida actually has the same number of points as the Queen in 12th place, however the 12th place Queen gained a top ranking. Jaida is the sixth highest winner and managed to gain 13 votes in total. Jaida was a standout from Series 12 from the start (or show 2) and went on to win 3 challenges overall and only hit the bottom 2 once after the one Queen Show challenge. Jaida then went on to win the competition beating Crystal and Gigi to the title. Because of the pandemic, her reign feels a little underwhelming which is no fault of her own as she showed herself to be such a fierce Queen throughout the show and its good to see her still popular.

I reckon Violet's Pit Stop interview helped her ranking here - she was so real! Refreshing to see a Rugirl be so honest instead of tiptoeing around being too polite and not rocking the boat.

12 = Aquaria (Series 10) = 328pts

At 12 is the Highest ranked Queen from Series 10; Aquaria. Although she gained the same amount of points and votes as Jaida, as she got a top ranking she gains the higher place and she is the fifth highest ranked winner. Aquaria had a great run on Series 10 and whilst there seemed to be initial beef with Miz Cracker and The Vixen, she soon settled down and actually let her talent do the talking. Whilst she mainly excelled at the runway/ design challenges and gave us some sickening looks, she also won the Snatch Game too and overall 3 challenge wins. She never hit the bottom 2 and went on to win the series ahead of Eureka and Kameron Michaels. Aquaria seemed to grow like Violet throughout the competition and whilst she seemed to lack confidence in her verbal delivery, she did manage to overcome this and slay. A fierce Queen and a worthy winner of the crown. With Aquaria out it means that Series 10 becomes the 8th series (US, UK, CA) to be all out of Queens.

11 = Crystal Methyd (Series 12) = 332pts
Number of Votes = 12



At 11 is the highest ranked Queen from Series 12; Crystal Methyd. The gap between 11th and 10th place is just under 50pts so there was a bit of a divide in the end. Crystal gained 12 votes in total and is the second highest Queen not to receive any top rankings. Crystal started Series 12 quite slowly and whilst she was a kooky Queen seemed to hold back slightly before hitting midway through the competition and really stepping her pussy up. She then had a 4 week run of hitting high before finally winning a challenge in Week 11, she then hit the bottom 2 the week and then became runner-up to Jaida in the final. I loved Crystal during Series 12 and was such a loveable Queen, I also really liked her runways and the fact she was different. I hope she returns for an All Stars series at some point as I think she could do well… plus would be good to see more from here!

Willam on her season isnt my favourite tbh but the Race Chaser podcast with Alaska has put both of them way further up in my lists!

10 = Alyssa Edwards (Series 5 | All Stars 2) = 381pts

Kicking off the top 10 is the first of 3 Queens from Series 5 and first of 3 Queen from All Stars 2; Alyssa Edwards. Alyssa gained 14 votes in total including 1 top ranking and finishes 4pts behind the Queen in 9th place. Alyssa is probably one of the most identifiable Queens from the show, starring in series 5, Alyssa initially had a very strong start. Despite the beef with Coco that seemed affect Coco more than Alyssa and she won a challenge in week 4. However by the next week, it started a pretty dire run for Alyssa who would’ve been bottom 2 after the Snatch Game but had immunity. The following week she hit low and then placed bottom 2 for the next 3 weeks and was eliminated. Alyssa then returned for All Stars 2 and had a pretty good run, despite being eliminated In Week 4, she then won her place back and finished 5th – but was robbed really of a final placing due to Alaska choosing to save Roxxxy. Alyssa has returned numerous times as either a choreographer or Lip Sync assassin, whilst her personality is a bit marmite, she has had some great/ iconic moments. Back Rolls?
