Imagine had it been lisa who had quit the band what the press would have been like as H and Claire did get away easy enough press wise when all was revealed.

Unless she got a surprising feature on some current dance artist my bet would be she wouldn't do much but a multi format new album should chart easily for her.
After listening to the Glitter & Gold: The original Podcast:

• They talked to the producers of the album.

• A top 5 for ‘Lately’ and top 10 for ‘Too far gone’ would’ve paved the way for the album to be released back in the days.

• ‘I’ll wait for you’ was planned as single #3. There was a synopsis for a Christmassy video with reindeers and snow. They also wanted her to go live on TOTP with a piano (creating an ‘Angels’ moment for Lisa).

• They wanted to release the album around Christmas.

• ‘U sure do’ could be a double a with the song mentioned above or as a single release. They mentioned ‘Rush’ as a later on single in the campaign as well.

• ‘Why can’t I’ and ‘C’mon lady’ were also songs recorded for the album.

• Lisa wasn’t the priority for her manager.

Thoughts?

That's very interesting and back in the day I would have loved for this to happen as I was a pretty huge Steps fan back in the day and did like Lisa's first 2 singles at the time. Although looking back do find 'Too Far Gone' quite weak, but dunno if anything else would have worked instead after listening to the album. "Burnt Out And Falling" should have made the album properly as that was far better than most of the tracks on there & maybe could have offered more variety if released as the 2nd single instead of 'TFG' which wasn't all that different to 'Lately'.

"I'll Wait For You/U Sure Do" as an X-Mas double A-side, might have been fun, no-way it would have had a Robbie Williams 'Angel' moment. If they perhaps rerecorded 'IWFY' and beefed up the production & gave it more polish on the vocals, then it may have worked a lot more and scored another top 20 hit.

"Rush" as the 4th single, not sure about that one, who knows how things could have turned out

The release schedule would looked something like this:

MAY '03: "LATELY"

SEPT '03: "TOO FAR GONE"

DEC '03: "I'LL WAIT FOR YOU/U SURE DO"

DEC '03: ALBUM RELEASE

MARCH '04: "RUSH"

Such a waste reading your post with everything summed up. LSL, the popstar that got away..

I wonder if anything will come from that visit to the studios she did the other month? Or was that for Steps?
  • 2 weeks later...
I cant see why she would be visiting a studio with steps when they are not active so i would have assumed it was something solo related.
