I've not had major problems with Plastic Pop, but I've not ordered from them often, and it was a while ago now.

This is bit of a longwinded post and I appreciate this is nothing to do with Lisa Scott-Lee, but given that we're on the subject of Plastic Pop...

My original Plastic Pop orders:

Order 1 in October 2021: Nicola Roberts - Green Cassette, Green Vinyl + Double Clear Vinyl

Order 2 in November 2021: Nicola Roberts - Double CD

If I recall correctly the Cassette was released in December 2021. However because I ordered it in a bundle with the vinyl formats, they weren't going to ship the cassette until the complete order was ready. I wasn't very satisfied with waiting for the cassette. So in January 2022 I decided to cancel both of those above orders. Then I re-ordered in this way:

Order 1 in January 2022: Green Cassette & Double CD

Order 2 in January 2022: Green Vinyl + Double Clear Vinyl

I didn't receive a shipping notification for Order 1 so I was a little worried until they arrived, but I was happy with both items.

The vinyl order - bearing in mind the formats were announced and pre-orderable in October 2021 - originally their release date was "TBA", then it changed to "Spring 2022", and then to "Summer 2022" which was so vague. They finally shipped/arrived in July 2022. I was slightly disappointed that one of my vinyl formats had a little dent in the corner. I don't think the packaging used to ship them was as strong as it should have been. When you buy something as New you really anticipate it to arrive in Mint condition. After waiting for months to receive them though, I couldn't be bothered to go through the process of getting a replacement, so I decided to accept it as it was.

I will says that the quality of the CD, cassette and Vinyl were all very nice in terms of design and packaging!

That's my only experiences with them so far.

If you check Trust Pilot and Facebook, the reviews leave a lot to be desired at this point. In terms of Trust Pilot, I'm wary of any company below 4.0, but Plastic Pop is on 3.3 and the majority of the more recent reviews are negative. Plastic Pop has never publicly responded to the complaints, which I don't think is a very good look.

The experience of waiting months for the Nicola vinyl formats would make me think twice about ordering Lisa Scott-Lee formats straight away (if it actually is Plastic Pop handling them!) and I'd likely wait to order when it's clear they're ready and about to be shipped. I can't really deal with vague seasonal release dates, I need something firmer than that to have confidence, going forwards.

I'll leave it to James to add anything else to this!!

Soooo where do I start with this company?

Contact is limited, blunt and unprofessional.

Comments and queries on social media are ignored or, worse still, deleted.

Shipping dates change without notification.

Also a big hoo-ha on another forum about Holly Valance in which the following happened:

- The creator asked about/gauged interest in Holly Valance vinyl presses

- Saw that the reaction was largely negative due to her political stance

- Agreed with the negative reactions

- Said the ones who were interested made his stomach churn.

I just wish that ANYBODY else ran the company because I can’t fault the fact we are able to get otherwise unlikely pop pressings but honestly, I’ve seen better businesses run by GCSE students!

This bothered me so much! Like, why even ask in the first place, if that was their stance? And then shame the people who expressed interest in supporting it? Okay...!

It's relatively still a new business (less than 2 years old) so you'd think they'd be eager to ensure customer satisfaction, rather than stick their head in the sand if there's complaints. If I had a company I'd be mortified if my online presence had fairly poor review scores online.

Still... when it comes down to it I think I'd have to get Lisa items if they're happening. I just won't be rushing to pre-order! (Now watch them be super limited and sell out :kink: )

I don’t think I’ve heard either of Holly’s albums to know whether I would want them on vinyl but her political stance should have nothing to do with his business. If anything, it won’t do his business any good being too vocal on politics!

Oh yeah, this annoyed me. Fair enough that he's trying to gauge interest in potential releases and realising that it's unfeasable due to Holly's lack of popularity, but he didn't need to pretend that he wasn't potentially interested in doing it in the first place. He could've just said that he thought Footprints and State of Mind are good albums, but that public reaction to Holly's political stances means it's not something that can realistically be printed. Essentially saying that those that were interested are horrible people is like, no.

I mean I can't speak for anyone else's experience but I've ordered the Nicola and Sophie Ellis-Bextor vinyls that Plastic Pop has done before and I've not had any major issues, save for being sent two copies of one of the Sophie vinyls (I think it was two of "Shoot From The Hip" when it was just meant to be one of that and one of "Trip The Light Fantastic").

But that was just a small human error - hey, who of us can say we're perfect? - and he was so lovely and sent me a return slip so I didn't have to pay to send the duplicate one back and he got the correct vinyl out within a couple of days.

From what I gather he runs it all himself, and that's a lot to take on by yourself, particularly as it's a boutique record label. There are things in my job that I do better than others, but I do them anyway because otherwise the rest of my job can't be done.

And as for the Holly Valance saga highlighted above, people have different views on things. I can't say I care for some of her political leanings but if you can detach that from the music, should it really matter?

It’s okay to have views but what it isn’t okay to do is tout for potential business and then slate the people that would have actually purchased said item!

To me that's just a really weird thing to do, I can't make sense of it.
