37. Have Pity On The Boy - Paul and Barry Ryan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1KcfMGotGg I don't have pity on the boy if he's been unfaithful. The trumpets were the highlight, otherwise this is only average.

Record of the week : 40. Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Stevie Wonder

The drums and horns really pack a punch before the vocals come in. The verse sections don't hold up well and Stevie's vocal is a bit ragged in places but the chorus and main hook is full of energy and this is overall a good UK debut for the 15 year old singer who already has a US number 1 single to his name, 'Fingertips', in 1963. Uptight will reach a peak position of number 14.

Wow I didn't realise how young Stevie Wonder was when 'Uptight (Everything's Alright)' was released 😮

An uplifting start to his chart history here despite what 'uptight' would go on to mean! I remember being confused about that title until learning that the word was more positive slang at the time. Shame it didn't quite make the top 10.

10th - 16th February 1966

14. Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown - The Rolling Stones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0HpuzIwYv4 The Stones' last five singles all topped the chart but this will only get to number 2. Their distinctive guitar work is still present but this lacks the killer chorus of their last few songs so it falls short of the record of the week.

19. Tomorrow - Sandie Shaw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYHV2unfLvl A fairly basic pop song but she makes the best of it with a good vocal and it will return her to the top 10 after her last single only reached number 21.

34. Get Out Of My Life, Woman - Lee Dorsey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=canHi-ez8cs A rhythm and blues song which I liked a lot. We have piano, drums, guitar and brass instruments all involved but it's still nicely uncluttered. He has a few more hits to come so I look forward to them.

35. My Love - Petula Clark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFXZIXMB5r4 There's a constant rhythm running through this with no changes of pace and I can understand why Petula thought it was a bit flat and didn't want it to be released as a single but she was wrong and it will reach number 4 and top the US chart.

36. Girl - The Truth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVgLPFNDky8 A second cover of the Beatles song for this year and I think I prefer it to the one by St. Louis Union, there was some inventive instrumentation. I know an 80s band called The Truth who had a couple of top 40 hits, I didn't know there was one in the 60s as well.

37. Think - Chris Farlowe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKeQg31tITg A Rolling Stones song but not a cover as their version hasn't come out yet. He has a very big voice but a little frenzied in places. His next single will do better.

40. You've Come Back - PJ Proby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3amM9NDFEZo A ballad this time from PJ Proby and he sings it really well, accompanied by some dramatic orchestration.

Record of the week : 30. Sha-La-La-La-Lee - The Small Faces

It wasn't an easy decision but I've chosen this one for being the catchiest song. I also like the mod style guitar sound and the organ towards the end. It will be the second top 40 hit for The Small Faces, going as high as number 3.

17th - 23rd February 1966

35. Barbara Ann - The Beach Boys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wvx14Qv9cg I like many songs by the Beach Boys but not this one. It's from an album of cover versions recorded live at their studio while a party was going on so it's no more than an impromptu singalong. It will, however, give them their biggest hit so far, reaching number 3.

36. Make The World Go Away - Eddy Arnold https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lq0Ri9e6SY0 A dull country style ballad which is out of place this late into the 1960s. His next two singles will just miss the top 40. He sold 85 million records but I haven't heard of him so maybe he's only known to country music fans.

39. This Golden Ring - The Fortunes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ7NbXwWkzc This is OK but nothing that I'm going to remember for too long. It's their third hit but there will now be a gap of five years before we get to the next one.

Record of the week : 38. Inside-Looking Out - The Animals

The Animals first single since a switch of labels from Columbia to Decca is this heavy rock song, have they actually invented heavy metal without even knowing it? There's some great guitar work along with the drums and organ and Eric Burdon has the right sort of powerful vocal style to carry a song like this along with some wailing from the other members. The single will peak at number 12.

24th February - 2nd March 1966

15. Backstage - Gene Pitney https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwPGRBBTmpo Quite a high new entry position for Gene and the single will reach the top 5. It's another good one with plenty of drama both in his vocal and the string section.

30. What Now My Love - Sonny and Cher https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfydxSLLbPs The second cover of this 1961 song to chart after Shirley Bassey's in 1962. I like the production and I'm assuming it's the Wrecking Crew playing the instruments but, as usual with these two, the vocals are a bit ropey.

33. Blue River - Elvis Presley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuYnhf7IPMw Another old song, this time from 1963. It's up-tempo with the interaction between the drums and guitars being the highlight.

36. Jenny Take A Ride - Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20Gih1iuS4k A fast paced song which is a hybrid of rock'n'roll and rhythm and blues. I enjoyed it.

38. Trouble Is My Middle Name - The Four Pennies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG867J1GJH8 The last of the group's five top 40 hits is a cover of a Bobby Vinton song from 1962. It was OK but not one I'll want to listen to again.

39. You Don't Love Me - Gary Walker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNqd6MvtKRc One of the Walker Brothers covers a Willie Cobbs song from 1960. I like the edgy guitar sound he comes up with here. Dawn Penn's version is the one I'm most familiar with.

Record of the week : 40. Lightnin' Strikes - Lou Christie

What a good pop song this is with its build up from the verse to the bridge and then to the fabulous chorus sung in falsetto. I also the like the use of the saxophone, tubular bells and backing singers. It will be the first top 40 hit for the American singer, peaking at number 11 and going all the way to number 1 in his homeland.

Eek a month behind 1966 now! The year I most want to review, so much I dont know but so much I loved at the time too. Plus laods of 60's USA-only hits Ive discovered since the 90's.

Dusty's Little By Little was never one of my faves of hers, but it is memorable as a hook and it's still pretty good (of course it is, its Dusty!). I knew of Paul & Barry Ryan due to Barry's solo career but never recalled any of their hits by the time of Eloise - and it was only 2 or 3 years earlier! This one is pleasant. I like it. Nice tune till it slows down unwisely. Uptight is the best of the 3 though, but I'm not sure I'd heard of Stevie until 1967. I didnt know how young he was either.

Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown is a banger, I knew it but didnt love it. I rate them much higher than at the time. Sandie's Youtube link has laready gone, doh! Tomorrow wasnt on my greatest hits vinyl, so it's not one I know that well. I heard Always Something on Radio 2 today, and thats just brilliant, this one is merely good. Lee Dorsey's is new to me, but it's pretty good, I like it, another I'd like to hear more of. My Love is a fave Petula 60's smash, great song, that chorus is incessant. When I heard it years later it was a tune I recognised. The Truth cover also slipped past me unknown, The Beatles original sounded new when I bought the Red album in 1976, and is infinitely superior, but Girl has a ceratin charm to it. Think ditto no memory of, Chris farlowe trying to strike gold again but it's no Out Of Time. I bought P.J.'s hits for my aunty Norma last year so I will have heard this one, but it doesnt ring a bell. That leaves the Small faces, I tend to be a bit indifferent to their pre1967 stuff, though this was obviously a biggie that had a memorable hook. Petula wins for me, over the Stones, with Lee Dorsey the best new=to=me

Barbara Ann I feel like I've always known, catchy singalong harmonies, though maybe not top-tier Beach Boys, it's still great fun. Eddy Arnold's version is worse than Donny & Marie's and not a fave. This Golden Ring I've heard before, but The Fortunes had much better singles. I still like it, mind. Way better is Gary Lewis & The Playboys US hit This Diamond Ring, a lost pop monster that one (son of Jerry Lewis). Inside Looking Out not one that ever pops up on compilation albums, which is a shame, as I'm not familiar with it and it's good. Beach Boys for me though.

Gene Pitney's Backstage played a lot on his Hits CD's, it's a drama goodie, but not one of his many classic faves. What Now My Love was an odd choice of song, but it was famous in the 60's for sure (the song) and I always enjoy Sonny & Cher. Blue River rolled on by, sounding like a movie out-take, it's not bad though. Like the twangy guitar. Jenny Take A Ride is more familiar as a cover/rip off CC Rider, Elvis tackled it among many. This sounds pretty good actually, and another I want to hear some more. Thats a discovery for me, as Ive never liked C C Rider much, but this is great. The Four Pennies tune sounds like a Bobby Vinton song, and Bobby Vinton was pretty unknown in the 60's UK. I'm guessing his version is better than this, but it's pleasant enough, I like the song. Gary Walker another obscurity, or so I thought, but it's that 90's reggae smash which was great (Dawn Penn) and this is pretty cool too. I like it.

There is no question which is the best track out of all of these though - Lightnin' Strikes is a monster fave of the time and since, stunning still, and Lou Christie is better than his 2 UK hits might suggest. Well worth a listen generally, and this record remains huge, what a voice!

3rd - 9th March 1966

18. I Can't Let Go - The Hollies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3aUcorSCpk This will reach number 2 but it's not one I've heard that often. The guitar part on the intro is very similar to the start of Rat Trap by the Boomtown Rats. After that, there are some good vocal harmonies and a persistent rhythm to the song. It's a cover of an Evie Sands track from 1965.

28. Shapes Of Things - The Yardbirds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlifbs-dpIs An early example of psychedelic rock, this will go on to influence what will come later in the 60s. Jeff Beck's guitar solo is the highlight. It will be the group's fourth consecutive top 3 single.

34. Dedicated Follower Of Fashion - The Kinks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfNc9tg128k A change of direction for The Kinks with less of the guitar riffs and more towards a whimsical music hall type of sound with lyrics about one person trying to keep up with the rapidly changing London fashion scene. It would normally be a contender for ROTW.

35. I'll Never Quite Get Over You - Billy Fury https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RxTJtFy3Wk There's some lush orchestration here along with the piano and a stirring vocal from Billy.

38. Flowers On The Wall - The Statler Brothers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW7FOgJcidI An enjoyable up-tempo country song with a good contribution from the banjo. I always like the banjo as a musical instrument. It will be their only hit.

40. May Each Day - Andy Williams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biepdSFVQKs This is from 1963 but could just as easily be from 1953. In his defence, he sings it very well with a warm, clear vocal.

Record of the week : 26. The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore - The Walker Brothers

Even on a week that has some quality, there's no doubt that this is the one. I'd put it up with 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' as the best single of the 60s up to this point. That expansive production with the deep drums, tambourines, trumpets, tubular bells, guitars and backing singers is just magical and then you've got Scott Walker's towering lead vocal, 10 out of 10. It's a cover of a Frankie Valli song from 1965 and will spend four weeks at number 1.

The Hollies Can't Let Go is a goodie, quite romps along as they bask in their Imperial Phase © Neil Tennant. The Yardbirds one isnt that familiar to me, though Ive heard it once or twice. S'OK. Dedicated Follower Of fashion one I def knew and liked at the time, and the quirky period piece is as whimsical as ever, almost as good as the Hollies single.

Billy Fury in lush mode always welcome, I don't remember hearing this one over the last 55 years, oddly unmemorable hook, but the production and Billy are both very good. Flowers On The Wall I got on a 60's hits cd 35 years ago or so, and it seemed oddly familiar to me when I heard it then, so I'm sure it's one I knew at the time. Good track in a good week. May Each Day was Andy's obligatory song to end his show on back in the 60's and 70's, so I've always liked it and the sentiment, but my fave bit of the show was The Cookie Bear, not even close. "Can I have a cookie, huh huh". You had to be there....

The Sun Ain't Gonna Shone Anymore is, as you say, a perfect record. Everything about is awesome and it would win any week for me too, also poss exception of Righteous Brothers. Sheer brilliance from beginning to end. That's how you do a cover version.....classily.

29. Woman - Peter and Gordon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4oHM5faTDo Written by 'Bernard Webb' who was quickly worked out by the music press to be Paul McCartney. I like the use of the cellos and brass instruments but otherwise this is not standing out.

31. Hold Tight! - Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv60e_jQBf8 The rhythm to this one was inspired by "a clapping craze at football grounds". That particular rhythm has endured to this day at football stadiums. The song is a good foot stomper with some inventive guitar work in the second half.

39. I Got You (I Feel Good) - James Brown and the Famous Flames https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTdihu-mp90 A song well known by all generations, this has some great contributions from the brass section and saxophone as well as James Brown's distinctive vocal.

Record of the week : 33. Substitute - The Who

I could easily have picked the James Brown song but I've gone with this one. It's catchy enough to appeal to the pop fans from the time but also has that gritty guitar sound to satisfy the alternative crowd. The lead and backing vocals plus the drums also make this a standout single. It will reach a peak position of number 5.

Woman I'm not familiar with, but it sounds instantly Beatles-Macca, albeit not top-par Beatles of the time, but tunefully pleasant. That horn riff sounds very familiar but I can't place it, I think it was borrowed after the event is my guess. I Got You is still a funky James Brown highlight, but even Top-rank Brown struggles to make me love him, proper tunes over rhythm for me. Substitute I associate with its 1976 re-issue hit these days though I was vaguely aware of it before that. It's good, but not top-tier Who for me. So that leaves Hold Tight, easily my fave at the time and since, that pounding chant still excites and as I've said many times, I adore Dave Dee & co, their back catalogue is under-rated bar Tarantino/Edgar Wright's recent inspiration for movie Last Night In Soho.

30. A Man Without Love - Kenneth McKellar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfURdA-KpAQ The UK have chosen a very old fashioned ballad for Eurovision and it will finish in 9th place, the country's worst placing until 1978. Coming from an opera background, he certainly puts in a capable performance of the song.

32. Heartaches - Vince Hill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0czFLPVCqj4 Vince Hill covers a song from 1931 and keeps to that pre-war sort of sound.

35. Elusive Butterfly - Val Doonican https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FF0m-580B4 We have two versions of this song and Val does a good job with the mid-tempo ballad, aided by backing singers and some strings.

38. I Met A Girl - The Shadows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4SJEMZE140 Another single with vocals from them and there's a country twang to it. They come up with some good vocal harmonies.

39. The Sound Of Silence - The Bachelors https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hFAJtBHtLI This is much better from the Bachelors as they are covering a contemporary song this time but obviously inferior to the original version by Simon & Garfunkel who will appear soon with a different track. It will go all the way to number 3, giving the group their biggest hit since 1964.

Record of the week : 21. Elusive Butterfly - Bob Lind

The original version recorded by its writer charts in the same week at Val Doonican's rival cover and is preferable. There's a wistful sound to his vocal and the strings are gorgeous with the guitar and drums keeping up the rhythm. The single will spend two weeks at number 5, the same position that Val's version will peak at. Bob Lind is 83 now and released a new album just two months ago.

Kenneth McKellar and his style of singing (early 20th century stylee) not really my thing but older generations enjoyed it. I'm enjoying a book by Bob Stanley on early 20th century pop, and all sorts of ancient gems are changing my views on popular music of the time. Actual Million sellers were a thing! That's never even mentioned in all-time sales charts which deal only with post-50's. And so many great songs hits decades later to boot. Here's a tune I have come to love thanks to Lou Christie's cover.

anyway back to the releases! And talking of which Vince Hill's cover from the same era and style, quite nice. Vince was always affable on telly. Talking of affable on telly, there was no-one more affable than Val Doonican, hugely popular among kids for his novelty songs, but my oh my how I loved Elusive Butterfly, honey-warm vocals and what a soaring melody, I still love it to bits (along with the Bob Lind original). Talking of which his voice is has more wistful emotion to it and jangly guitar is more upfront. Playing them back to back Bob Lind's is indeed the better version, much as I still love Val's.

The Shadows' single I have no awareness of, it's just a song name in a long list of Shadows hits, and you wouldnt even know it was them, it could be anyone from that era. Nice harmonies yes, jaunty. As will Val's cover, I'm pretty sure it was The Bachelors cover that I knew first, and by their standards it really was one of their best records, though I agree not a patch on the Simon & Garfunkel original of course. I find myself enjoying this version though, and it may not just be nostalgia, it is good.

24th - 30th March 1966

29. Somebody Help Me - The Spencer Davis Group https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fBmgT30zvM A second number 1 single for this group but not as good as the first one. The hook of the chorus stands out but not much else remarkable about it.

35. Blue Turns To Grey - Cliff Richard and The Shadows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNlHkzW-R48 A cover of a Rolling Stones song which had been recorded by two other artists before the Stones' own version came out. It goes along nicely at a good pace but, like the first song today, there's not a lot to it.

36. 634-5789 - Wilson Pickett https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSGuaVAufV0 I don't think there are too many chart hits with just numbers in the title. It's another soulful vocal display from Wilson with the backing vocalists singing the phone number.

38. Someday One Day - The Seekers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adAdRbmhYx8 While their first three singles all reached the top 3, this one will only get to number 11. A strong vocal once again from Judith Durham and it's interesting to see the Sydney Opera House still under construction.

39. You Won't Be Leaving - Herman's Hermits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpQ0b5Ye1KE So his girlfriend didn't just come round to his house to look at the pictures on his wall, she came to stay the night is the gist of this one. It was OK.

Record of the week : 40. Tijuana Taxi - Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass

This is just a happy instrumental which should put a smile on the face of anyone who listens to it. It's mainly the trumpet and xylophone with that comical car horn sounded a few times. It's Herb Alpert's third top 40 hit and will only get to number 37.

Somebody Help Me has always sounded a bit meh to me, mystified how that did so well. Blue Turns To Grey is a forgotten tune, I do recognise the melody from that era and quite enjoy it. Never knew it was Jagger/Richard! Very Beatlesy twanging going on. Wilson Pickett another one I never got, for the most part, he didnt have a lower setting vocally, and pedestrian funk passes me by. I do recognise this one too without hearing it much over the last 55 years. It's not bad as such though.

The Seekers song I will have last heard on their final tour, and I bought the Greatest Hits CD that night, but I still don't remember it. Pleasant though. Herman's hit also not one I recognise, and I have the Greatest Hits CD, so I guess it's been left off. Jaunty and nice but forgettable. So, very unespectedly, Herb's then-very-famous melody wins out for me too - that tune was everywhere in the 60's. I never knew who it was or what it was called, but I liked it. My childhood Herb Alpert moment of love was still 2 years away.

31st March - 6th April 1966

26. The Ballad Of The Green Berets - Staff Sergeant Barry Sadler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZXHsiFaUFM A US number 1 single so I remember it from the Sunday listening sessions. I don't know why anyone in Britain at the time would want to buy this American patriotic nonsense.

31. Supergirl - Graham Bonney https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6Vp1qZoQUU A well produced pop song with good use of the piano and saxophone and some falsetto from the singer. This will be his only hit.

34. Alfie - Cilla Black https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp5YsIPlVJI Bacharach and David wrote this for the film 'Alfie'. Cilla sings the quiet parts well but the bigger sections are an acquired taste as always seems to be the case with her vocal approach.

38. I Put A Spell On You - The Alan Price Set https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQ0MAFovbrs Alan Price's first hit since leaving The Animals is this cover of a well known song. It showcases his skills on the organ and he also puts in a passionate vocal performance, very good.

39. Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) - Cher https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qePKIa6Pmxc This will be a top 3 hit for Cher and it's a good one with the violin playing really standing out. I'm more familiar with Nancy Sinatra's cover after it being sampled on that Audio Bullys song from 2005.

40. A Legal Matter - The Who https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvl5oGo7sv8 Substitute is still climbing the chart and this single has been released by the Who's producer without their permission after some dispute. Sung by Pete Townshend, it's a decent rock song but not as good as Substitute and will only get to number 32.

Record of the week : 29. Homeward Bound - Simon and Garfunkel

Another well known act make their chart debut this week. The song has a great melody with the tempo changing from slow to faster and back again. The acoustic guitar, drums and vocals are all top notch. There's a plaque at Widnes railway station proclaiming that Paul Simon wrote the song there. The single will peak at number 9.

Ooh I know all of these bar The Who track, makes sense if they weren't promoting it. The Green Berets was old-fashioned and I guess any appeal it had in the UK would have been as a general supporter of Men and Women serving in forces, of which my dad was one (in troubled Aden at this time while mum was in Liverpool with us) but Viet-Nam I really don't recall anyone supporting in real life, and it got increasingly horrific as time went on - Communist supporters bomb booby-trapped and killed a kid in my brothers Primary School in 1970 in Singapore even though the UK was already winding down in the Far East, and the war wasnt that far away physically or news-wise. Oh yes, the record is rubbish too, but I do remember it at the time!

The Who's is pedestrian, but not bad as such, Alan Price does a good version of the much-covered I Put A Spell On You standard, but I'd opt more for Nina Simone or Sonique. Alfie is a great song, and the film was a sensation at the time. Cher sung the USA release theme of the movie, but Burt decided to piss Cilla off by making her do it over and over and over when the first take was usually the one with Cilla. I rated it at the time and still. My fave record of the week at the time though was Bang Bang, mad on that one, and easily a personal chart-topper had i been doing them then. 60 years on and I'm still fond of it, but these days I'm even more into the other 2 remaining:

Supergirl I've been obsessed with of late, as a tune I loved at the time, then more or less forgot for a decade, during which time I'd become a massive fan of DC Comics and Legion Of Super-Heroes in particular (still in a fanzine) and Supergirl was a member of that team, so this appeals along with songs/media sharing the same name as Legion super-heroes like Star Boy, Dream Girl and Karate Kid. Oh and John Peel's fave obscure track called...Legion Of Super Heroes. But do I love it more than Homeward Bound? Ooh, tough, it's a folk-rock classic and always hits the spot. I should pick it, really, it's the best record here. But at this moment in time, which would I rather play? Supergirl!

7th - 13th April 1966

26. Pied Piper - Crispian St. Peters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ehJ3wH_QHU It's a second top 5 hit for this singer but also his last to reach the top 40. It has a very jolly sound to it with the repeated chorus making up most of the song.

35. Twinkle Toes - Roy Orbison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CyRhrjFOgw A Roy Orbison song that people can have a dance to. It was OK but his voice is better suited to dramatic ballads.

36. Frankie And Johnny - Elvis Presley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM7Nx9bFHfc The title track from Elvis' latest movie is a version of a song from the turn of the century about a murder. He does a good job with his vocal, backed by a jazz band.

38. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - Otis Redding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y55qpkmLNfc Apart from the chorus, Otis makes up his own lyrics for this cover which is done in a sort of scatting style, accompanied by bass guitar and horns.

Record of the week : 16. You Don't Have To Say You Love Me - Dusty Springfield

It has to be this song which has one of the most recognisable choruses from the 60s. Dusty comes up with a powerful and emotive vocal performance. It originated as an Italian song called 'Lo Che Non Vivo (Senza Te)' from 1965 but now has new English lyrics. After five solo top 10 hits, Dusty will finally have her first number 1 single, spending one week at the top of the chart.

Pied Piper is a great song, I really liked it at the time, and also the reggae cover by Bob & Marcia in 1971, very 60's and charming. Roy's Twinkletoes I have somehow missed out on my whole life!! Assuming I didnt hear it at the time, which I probably did. Not exactly Pretty Woman but it's not bad. Frankie and Johnny I knew well at the time, and liked, but not so much these days. Didn't know it was archive as a song though. I knew it was a cover, but not that old! Otis Redding, Dock Of The Bay and My Girl aside, I never really hugely got into, and I dont remember his version of Satisfaction. Funky enough, but on balance I prefer Bubble Rock's cover.....😇

And of course, it's Dusty for me too, what a legend. Nobody does ballads better than Dusty, and that's a firm full stop. And it's still not even her best record, not even her top 5.

I’ll have to revise this year properly at some point but great to see “Elusive Butterfly” and “Homeward Bound” winning. “Pied Piper” is such an earworm but I agree it has to be Dusty really in the last group.
