Beggin up to #4 on Spotify now (and it’s on HHUK, I think that’s a new add?) Doja songs also climbing a bit today and You Right is also on Hot Hits

No, Beggin was already there on HH, was added a week ago or something

Ed moved to track #1 on HH, ka-ching :)

on Spotify, Beggin' up to #4 and very very close to #3

clearly Ed Sheeran needs to do a duet with Olivia for his next single if he wants another massive number one.

it is rather pleasing that he can’t just release anything and have it do huge huge numbers anymore.

Be interesting to see as the weekend numbers for Olivia go down to see if Ed keeps up or falls away as well.
'WUSYANAME' only down 1 place to #24 today, 'LUMBERJACK' also still in the top 50 at #47, his other songs having slightly bigger drops but he still has 13 in the top 200 (same as yesterday) and 9 in the top 100 (down 2). His third highest song has changed again lol (now 'JUGGERNAUT' at #63 - that was the song that was on New Music Friday so interesting that it seems to have actually been relatively rising among his album tracks since then, it was only the 7th highest on day 1 and the 4th highest yesterday).

They will both climb tomorrow cos streams always climb on Monday

plus Ed's now track #1 on HH so that would have an effect

I got the feeling that nowadays no "regular" song can do huge numbers unless it's viral or a tiktok or similar

I wonder if Beggin could be a surprise #1 next week or week after

I hope not tbh, must prefer IWBYS don’t like their cover of beggin whatsoever. Much rather it to be Ed or Olivia for the foreseeable future until another big release is out.

Ed is now finally #1 on Apple! (Tbh having now heard the song I do think it sounds more like an Apple hit than a Spotify one, it'd blend in well with all the various brands of Joel Corry et al.)

No song absolutely smashes from week 1 anymore as songs aren't held back, so it takes people time to discover them. Fan base acts get a 1st week boost with physical/downloads but it's week 3 or 4 where songs peak n9w if not longer.

Even Drivers Licence grew the first couple of weeks.

People expecting Ed to not be the same are just ignorantly hoping he fails.

talking about being ignorant...

why songs peak later? cos labels don't put all their money on week 1 and usually songs start low on playlists and grow with time

but Ed is already #1 on all imaginable playlists on Spotify including HH and TTH, something that more songs reach on week 4-5, manyothersongswill never do of course... so what more push can he get? he's already got it all, there is no need to improve

Drivers license still opened with 95k and like very little initial support comparatively and was a largely unknown artist?

Good 4 U, Montero, Positions, Rain On Me, No Time To Die and Godzilla all from recent memory peaked in week one from memory and Ed is a bigger name than them imo (or same standard with GaGa and Ariana). But sure, it's because we want Ed to fail so miserably.

'I Don't Care' also peaked in its first week and continuously declined for its entire run at #1 lol x

('Bad Habits' obviously has a lot more room to grow from though)

'good 4 u' and 'MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)' did both take a few weeks to peak but the rest of those were first week peaks yeah. It's rarer nowadays for big hits to peak in their first week but not completely unheard of.

Good 4 U peaked week 2!

Especially for, who I'd call the most successful and popular (or one of) artist of the past 5/6 years.
