I wouldn’t have predicted Better Best Forgotten performing this well when the survivor started, it’s more of a BuzzJack fan fave than I realised. So I think it’s done really well to come this far (assuming it goes this round, that is)

 

I’m also not sure I would have thought Something in Your Eyes would outlast as many classic Steps singles as it has!

Yes, Something In Your Eyes success is somewhat of a surprise, a good surprise.

I would have always thought better best forgotten was far more popular than deeper shade of blue but I get and understand what you saying. I agree about something in your eyes as I never thought it would come in so high.

From my point of view Deeper Shade of Blue appears to be the bigger fan fave elsewhere (for instance, Popjustice forum) and it seems that Steps themselves much prefer it!

 

On tour, they often relegate Better Best Forgotten to inclusion in medleys (that happened as early as The Next Step tour in 1999, more recently on The Ultimate Tour and Party on the Dancefloor). For 2000's Steptacular tour they even left it off the set list altogether! If I’m right in what I’ve researched, the only tours they’ve performed Better Best Forgotten in full was Step One Tour in 1999 and their Christmas shows in 2000 and 2012. It'll be interesting to see what they do with it this year.

 

When they came back in 2011, they performed Deeper Shade of Blue for a few TV performances. It’s also a song Claire chose to cover and release as a soloist. It seems guaranteed to be a song they'll always do in full on tour too.
