I love both of these. Over time, 'Secret' has become a real, real favourite of mine. It's totally mesmirising! I was a fan of 'Celebration' at the time... and still am! Her last true hit here...
Secret is easily my favourite of those two. It's one of the best examples of mid 90s r&b for me, such an infectious beat and I think she sounds great on it.
Secret is great, Celebration not so much

Gutted to see Holiday gone already; it's almost 40 year's old and will forever be an M classic and although I don't listen to it so much anymore, it's still one of her greatest pop moments, and as already mentioned, a top 10 on 3 different occasions (when that actually meant something), and I remember as a little boy wondering that M was at #1 with Into The Groove and #2 with Holiday, again when that actually meant something, and was a huge achievement, signalling Madonna mania in the UK.

Secret and Celebration should have been much much lower.

I much prefer the dance remix of 'Secret', although the original is still nice.

'Ceebration' is good but not an essential, pretty galling it's her last top 10 hit. :(

Got no boundaries and no limits

| 33. Give It 2 Me 7.96

| 34. You'll See 7.94

The lead single from Madonna's ballad compilation album, You'll See aimed to tone down the provocative image that she had gained in the years previous. She stated that she wanted her music to be appreciated over the controversy that had riddled her career. The acoustic ballad speaks of having independence in the aftermath of a relationship's breakdown and does so with delicate vocals and a gentle instrumentation. Its music video was a sequel to that of 'Take A Bow'. The second single from Hard Candy drops out next (it's the best performing song from that era in this rate). Give It 2 Me initially appears to be about dance and sex, but is also a reference to her career spanning three decades in the music industry. The bouncy, up-beat song features vocals from Pharrell Williams. It was a hit in some markets but fell short from having longevity in the US due to limited radio play. It did however garner critical acclaim and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording.

You'll See is about 20 places too high for me, as nice as it is. I just don't see it is one of my personal favourites.

Give It 2 Me is a lot of fun. I remember loving it so much at the time too and it has continued to stay in my affections since.

You’ll See is among my favourite of all her ballads. I much prefer it to Take A Bow (for which is it a sort of semi sequel) and it’s one of her most assured vocals, albeit not technically as good as what was yet to come, but still so full of emotion and sentiment to really sell the song. Also much love to Veras.

Give It 2 Me is such an odd song, it certainly doesn’t as fresh or as good in 2021 as it did in 2008 and I prefer the Eddie Amador Remix but it’s by far the best track on Hard Candy.

Youll See has underperformed here it’s usually a fan favourite.
You'll see is one of her best ballads

You'll see is a great track. I'm never overly keen on her ballads - Something to Remember wasn't a great release for me - but this was a good one.

It was exciting at the time to see her return to Top of the Pops.

Give It 2 Me isn't a highlight. Not something I would return to at all. I don't like the "Get stupid..." lines.

Is there something I'm missing? Do I take this to literally? It just seems odd.

You'll See is nice enough, it feels like a precursor to the Evita soundtrack to me - it's a shame she didn't add an original track for that score.

I like Give It To Me more now than I did at the time, it's aged pretty well I think

| 31. Nothing Really Matters 7.98

| 32. Like a Virgin 7.96 (more 10s)

Sneaking ahead due to having more 10 scores, Like a Virgin is out. One of the most instantly recognisable, iconic and career defining hits, the song was the lead single to Madonna's second album and it catapulted her to dizzying heights from which she would not come down from for decades. With hidden innuendos through its lyrical content, it's a playful song and became one of her biggest hits, including reaching the top spot in the US. The music video showed Madonna on Venetian gondolas wearing a wedding dress and being a fearlessly independent woman owning the camera. Next up we lose the Ray of Light era's first song! Nothing Really Matters was the album's fifth and final single and combines ambient sounds with more erratic electronic sounds. In terms of its lyrics, the song deals with motherhood, affection and in particular, her daughter Lourdes. The music video for the song was inspired by the novel Memoirs of a Geisha and shows Madonna as a geisha wearing a red kimono designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. She also wore the outfit during her performance at the 41st Grammy Awards.

Ugh at Like a Virgin beating some of my faves. At least it’s not unbearably high. I can appreciate it’s place in making her a star but I’d definitely never choose to listen to it.

Nothing Really Matters is great, although pretty much everything on Ray of Light is. As much as I like it, it’s still my least favourite single from that era, although I agree the aesthetic of the video is really good

ouch hate Nothing Really Matters, one of her worst songs ever imho and doesn't deserve top 40 :/

Like a Virgin is great but I see only old fans like it now it seems :/
