July 9, 20213 yr Author According to The Mail and other new outlets, Spanish TV says the Euros are rigged by UEFA for England to win it. Says the final of any big competition should be at a neutral venue. Also it shouldn't have been held here anyway after the contempt we showed Europe with Brexit. LOL. I only said to my wife last night that no team should have home advantage in any final. They say it's been the worst competition to cover with decisions favouring England, especially last night's penalty.

That's not lost on me as a club football fan! Although they totally have a point, always winds me up when pundits call out diving from the likes of Fernandes, Salah, Mane etc. but as soon as it's Sterling, Kane or Rashford it's 'clever' play
July 9, 20213 yr Finals should be at neutral venues? That's not how these tournaments work and never has been. Yes we were lucky in the sense that the semis & final are in England for a one-off continental tournament but then we haven't hosted anything since 1996. Germany for example are hosting the entire next Euros only 18 years after they hosted the entire World Cup and I don't think anyone will bring this point up if they reach the final in 3 years. Also, didn't help France in 2016!

July 9, 20213 yr There's no doubt that being at home is an advantage, and I don't think it's that coincidental that the four semi finalists in this tournament played all group games at home, but saying a final should be on neutral ground is laughable, particularly normally. "We know you've hosted the whole tournament but as you've qualified for the final we're going to have to move it to another country with three days notice" I'm also not sure what decisions have favoured us. A penalty given when two defenders made a challenge, touched the attacker and didn't get close to the ball is hardly the most controversial thing to have happened. July 9, 20213 yr Yeah this wasn't Thierry Henry quite literally hand-slapping a ball twice and leading to a decisive goal, possibly costing Ireland the World Cup berth opportunity and they didn't even have VAR back then. VAR literally said there was no obvious error in the call.
July 10, 20213 yr I know VERY little about football but from the very start of this I thought Italy would win the whole thing. I’d be happy either way (like the Italian part of me really what’s Italy to win but if England won I’d be happy for us). Honestly though I think England fans could actually be our downfall here if Italy score the first goal. Plus Italy are more used to the pressure of being in a final it’s not something the England team have experienced in a long while. There’s compelling arguments for both teams to be fair should definitely be interesting but if I was a betting man I’d stick it on Italy to win. Don’t think it’s gonna be a game with many goals though so it’s very pressurised to manage to actually just get one in as that could be all it takes to win.
