September 8, 20213 yr Oh poor 'Blood on the Dancefloor' and 'Chocolate Salty Balls' (:kink:) - I am a fan of both but didn't have room for either.
September 9, 20213 yr If only Another Level's number 1 hit were 'Be Alone No More' instead of that boring 'Freak Me'. I could have given it 20 points or more. :D I also love Philip George and Anton Powers 2015 version of course. Discotheque and Something About The Way You Look Tonight didn't deserve zero points. :( EDIT: Just praying the song that got 1 point from me has got more points from someone else. Edited September 9, 20213 yr by Jason
September 9, 20213 yr U2 is the biggest casualty, but MJ, and a couple of others are pretty decent. I also agree with sentiment that Elton's less-famous side is far and away the better record.
September 9, 20213 yr Dandy* 😁 I do love it! It’s the right type of novelty for me. Can’t remember if I gave it points or not though
September 9, 20213 yr Author NO 175- 2 POINTS GYM N TONIC- Spacedust- #1 for 1 week in October 1998 (Voter: Jason) Jane Fonda didn't approve and neither do we!
September 9, 20213 yr Author NO 173- 3 POINTS- CANDLE IN THE WIND 97- Elton John- #1 for 5 weeks in September/October 1997 (Voter: Last Dreamer) And to think people were buying 10 copies of this at a time! HANGING TOUGH- New Kids On The Block- #1 for 2 weeks in January 1990 (Voter: Ready For It) The first No 1 of the 90s and by a boyband- just like the last No 1 of the decade but with some points....
September 10, 20213 yr GYM N TONIC's music video is ridiculously camp but catchy and makes me laugh! I didn't know about the existence of Bob Sinclar's version until now (before reading this thread). Edited September 10, 20213 yr by Jason
September 10, 20213 yr Author No 170- 4 POINTS Unchained Melody Righteous Brothers (Voter: Colm) #1 for 4 weeks in November 1990 The best selling song of 1990 thanks to “Ghost” Do The Bartman The Simpsons (Voter: Ready For It) #1 for 3 weeks in February/March 1991 Co-written by Michael Jackson but it’s fallen from favour now, Millennium Prayer Cliff Richard (Voter: Last Dreamer) #1 for 3 weeks in December 1999 The second and final Cliff track leaves the rate
September 10, 20213 yr Okay 'Saviour's Day' did not deserve to be outperformed by 'The Millennium Prayer' lol 'Unchained Melody' is a great song and that is my favourite version of it by far, but again, didn't have the room
September 10, 20213 yr Wow. I did not think I'd be the only person voting for UM. Was that because it was a re-release?
September 10, 20213 yr I left it out only because it was a rerelease, same for the Clash. I tried to pick new songs!
September 10, 20213 yr I agree it’s the best version of Unchained Melody, but I don’t love the song in any form. There’s no chorus and it doesn’t really go anywhere. :P Millennium Prayer… I respect Cliff and he’s done some great services to music, but that isn’t one of them! Do the Bartman is OK for a novelty type song. I’ve been watching back early Simpsons on DisneyPlus and they are a great cultural institution.
September 11, 20213 yr the Simpsons series is genius, the song... not so much, one of the most diabolical #1s ever
September 11, 20213 yr There’s no chorus and it doesn’t really go anywhere. :P It doesn't go anywhere apart from the almighty climax?
September 11, 20213 yr Author NO 167- 5 POINTS Inside Stiltskin (Voter: Garyfeld) #1 for 1 week in May 1994 Levi’s advert to the rescue for this one! You'll Never Walk Alone Robson & Jerome (Voter: Last Dreamer) #1 for 2 weeks in November 1996 A Robson & Jerome record with points!- This is their second most popular in the rate! A Different Beat Boyzone (Voter: Hide&Seek) #1 for 1 week in December 1996 Oh dear- a fifth or six entries for the boys crash out of the rate- but at least this gets some votes
September 11, 20213 yr It doesn't go anywhere apart from the almighty climax? Actually I’m not that keen on the falsetto climax either, although it’s not as grim as in Gareth Gates’ version. B-) :arrr: Would have expected Inside to do better.
